Sheriff Jacob N. Shutts received a telegram from Warden Thayer, of the Dannemora prison, this morning, announcing the death of David Argersinger in that institution, as having occurred at 2 o'clock this morning. The sheriff immediately communicated with Argersinger's mother and sisters in Gloversville. and arrangements have been made to bring the remains to that city for interment.
No information is received as to the cause of death, but as he was a sufferer from consumption aud in very feeble health when he was taken to Dannemora from this city in December last, the supposition is that the close confinement there has hurried his death.
Together with Charles. alias "Seneca" Hastings, the deceased was convicted in county court on the 9th of December last of burglary in the second degree, and both were sentenced by Judge Keck the day following to four 'years and seven mouths at Dannemora. The crime for which Argersiuger and Hastings were convicted was committed in the town of Ephratah. on the night of October 6th last, when it was proved they entrred the house of Town Collector Jesse Weaver and carried away about $70 belonging to the town of Ephratah, being money Mr, Weaver had collected for taxes, and about $13 belonging to the latter personally. Argersiuger was a brother-in-law of Collector Weaver, and he had always resided in Gloversville or immediate vicinity.
