Mrs. Bertha Weaver Smith, 82, a native of the Town of Palatine, died Sunday at her home in Ephratah following a long illness.
Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 29 1874, the daughter of Abel and Sarah Billington Weaver.
She was married to Mortimer Smith, of Ephratah, on Feb. 20, 1898.
Surviving are her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Cora Satterlee, Miss Ida Smith. Miss Laura Smith and Miss Elsie Smith, all of Ephratah; three sons, Lloyd," of Charleston Four Corners; Claude, of Old Trail road, and Clarence of Fort Johnson; one sister, Mrs. Lewis Smith, of Rockwoed; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Cole funeral home, Johnstown. Interment will be in Ephratah Cemetery.

Mortimer Smith, St. Johnsville RD 1, Town of Ephratah, today is observing his 100th birthday.
Smith was born in Ephratah, Feb. 5, 1868. The place of his birth was located at the site of the present Ephratah Cemetery.
Smith received, a letter of congratulations from Robert M. Ball, commissioner of the Social Security Administration. The letter was presented by David Irons, local field representative.
Before he retired in the late 1920, Smith worked in a paper mill in Ephratah. Earlier he had worked a s a carpenter and a farmhand. When asked about his early life, Smith said that he got his first job when he was about 12, digging potatoes. He earned 25 cents a day from the dawn-to-dusk job.
Irons said that Smith had never earned any Social Security credits, but that he was covered in the over-72 benefits which became effective in October
1966. Smith had been receiving $35 a month but this amount will be raised to $40 this month.
Although his hearing is poor, as is his eyesight, Smith is generally in good health. He likes to walk and watches television. He attributed his long life to hard work which he said "kept me pretty strong."
Smith has a younger brother, Alpha Smith, St Johnsville, RD 1; and several children, Four of his children reside at St. Johnsville RD 1. They are Lloyd Smith, Laura, Ida and Elsie Smith. Claude Smith resides in Johnstown, Mrs. Cora Satterlee, Johnstown RD 1, and Clarence Smith, Amsterdam. He has 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
His wife, the former Bertha Weaver, died Oct. 28, 1956, at the age of 82.
He is the son of the late Ahijah and Elizabeth Stemburgh Smith.
Friends, neighbors and relatives planned a small birthday party for Smith this afternoon.

Mortimer Smith, 103, of Ephratah, died at 9:30 this morning at his home following some months of failing health. Born Feb. 5,1868 in the Town of Ephratah, he was the son of Ahijah and Elizabeth Steenburg Smith.
He married the former Miss Bertha Weaver, who died Oct. 28, 1956.
A farmer and life long resident of the Town of Ephratah, Mr. Smith was of Methodist faith. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Cora Satterlee, Johnstown RD; Miss Ida Smith, Miss Laura Smith and Miss Elsie Smith all living at home; two sons, Claude Smith of Johnstown RD, and Clarence Smith of Fonda, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Lloyd A. Smith, 67, of Old Trail Road, was pronounced dead on arrival at Littauer Hospital in Gloversville about 10:45 Saturday night. He had been in failing health for six years.
Mr. Smith was born in the Town of Ephratah on Feb. 19, 1902, a son of Mortimer Smith and Bertha Weaver Smith. A self-employed farmer, he had resided in Montgomery County for 50 years.
Mr. Smith's wife, the former Ella Mae Weakley, died in 1944.
Survivors are his father, Mortimer Smith of the Town of Ephratah; four sisters, Mrs.

Miss Elsie Smith, 56, of Ephratah was pronounced dead on arrival at Littauer Hospital after being stricken at her home at 3 this morning.
Born May 20, 1915 in Ephratah, she was the daughter of Mortimer and Bertha Weaver Smith. She was a lifelong Ephratah resident.
In earlier years, Miss Smith was employed as a glove operator at her home for the Tom Donlon Glove Company, Herkimer.
Survivors include three sisters. Mrs. Cora Satterlee of the Town of Mohawk, Miss Ida Smith and Miss laura Smith of Ephratah; two brothers, Claude Smith of the Town of Mohawk and Clarence Smith of Fonda, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

ST. JOHNSVILLE — Benjamin Snell, 83, Town of Oppenheint, died late Saturday night in the Little Fails hospital of injuries received earlier in the day when he stepped from behind a parked auto in West Main street and was struck by a car driven by Ralph Taylor, 28, of 615 Albany street. Little Falls Death, according to Coroner H. G. Ross, M. D, of this village, was due to a fractured skull. Mr. Snell also suffered multiple contusions and bruises. Dr. Ross said that there was no apparent criminal negligence on the part of Mr. Taylor. He said he would hold an inquest the latter part of this week.
The accident occurred in front of the residence of Dr. Raymond Wytrwal.
Mr. Snell was en route to the doctors' office for medicine, and is reported to have stepped from behind a parked auto on the north side of the street. East-bound was a car operated by Ralph Taylor, who said he waa driving between 20 aad 25 miles per hour,
Mr. Taylor said that he sounded the horn of his auto, and he thought the elderly man was going to wait for the car to pass. However, Mr. Snell stepped Into the path of the machine, and was caught on the front bumper.
The driver had applied the brakes, but the machine slid for some distance over the Ice. Had the driver released the brakes, Mr. Snell might not have been badly injured, according to police. However, with the brakes still set, the machine suddenly struck a bare spot of pavement, and came to a jolting stop. Mr. Snell waa thrown from the front bumper to the pavement, striking his bead with some considerable force.
The Injured man waa carried into the Wytrwal home. Dr. Wytrwal, convalescing from his recent Illness, arose from bed and attended the injured man, ascertaining that he had sustained a basal skull fracture and severe concussion. Mr. Snell waa taken to Little Falls hospital in Harry Smith's ambulance
The drlver of the auto made a report to Police Officer Albert Perry. He was aot held.
Mr. Snail who resided at Stille's Corners about three miles north of this village was born in the Town of Ephrafah on August 1, 1869, a son of Benjamin and Mary Anne Ropeter Snell. He had spent his entire life in the Town of Oppenheim where he had followed the occupation of farmer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran chureh of St. Johnsville. His wife was the late Carrie Mae Failing, who died about five years ago.
The survivors art one son, Benny who resides at home, and one sister Mrs. Frank Rexford of Cooperstown. several grandchildren and one great grandchild
Despite his advanced yers, Mr. Snell had been active and carried on much of the lighter work about
the farm.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

The funeral of Benjamin Snell, 83, Town of Oppenheim, who died Saturday night, several hours after he was struck by an auto while crossing Main street, was held yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Smith funeral home, and at 2 o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran church. The Rev. George H. Kling. paator of the church, officiated and the body was placed in the vault for burial in the spring in Prospect View cemetery, here.

Fort Plain - Irving failing, 57, died Tuesday in the Amsterdam City Hospital. He was born in the Town of Minden, son of John A. Failing and Ellen Getman Failing.
He is survived by his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mr.s John A. Failing; one sister, Mrs. Nancy Christman of St. Johnsville.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Lutheran Church in St. Johsville with the Rev. Elmer J. flanders officiating. Interment will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in St. Johnsville.

FONDA, bee. 11.—Mr. and Mrs. Ira J. Burke, who yesterday reached the 50th milestone of wedded life, were honor guests last evening at a party given by their daughter, Mrs. Benjamin A. Saltsman, for about 50 guests.
A program of musical members and readings was presented and an anniversary prayer written by the Rev. Henry H. Richardson, Constableville, retired former pastor of the Fonda Methodist Church, was read by Mrs. Clarence Argersinger, Fort Johnson.
To the accompaniment of "When Your Hair Is Turned To Silver," played softly by Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Burke, Gloversville, on Hawaiian guitars, Mrs. Saltsman read as a tribute to her parents a poem entitled, "Golden Anniversary Day." The program concluded with a mock wedding ceremony.
Fifty small golden bells, gold-colored ribbons and a huge bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums formed attractive decorations in the dining room, where a supper was served at tables in white with golden colored accessories. The honor guests' table was centered with a large wedding cake and two golden lighted candles. Many beautiful gifts were presented.
Mrs. Burke, who was formerly Miss Malinda Weaver, daughter of Chauncey and Mary Ropeter Weaver, Town of Ephratah, and Ira J. Burke, son of William H. and Minerva Smith Burke, Town of Oppenheim, were married December 10, 1890 at the Methodist parsonage in St. Johnsville by the Rev. J. V. Ferguson. Since 1907 they have been residents of the Town of Mohawk. They are the parents of seven children. Mrs. Benjamin A. Saltsman and Reed Burke, Fonda; Lewis Burke, North Chattanooga, Tenn.; George, Fultonville; Harry, Berryville, and LeRoy, Mohawk. A son, Ford, died at about two years of age. The nine grand children are Mrs. Roy Van Deusen, and Melvin Burke, Gloversville; Harry Burke, Jr., Berryville; Charles, Rohert, Wreatha and Jean Burke, Fultonville; Audrey and Richard Burke, Fonda, and one
great grandson, Howard James Van Deusen, Gloveraville.

FONDA, May 25 —Malinda Weaver Burke, 79, widow of Ira Burke, died unexpectedly last night at 9:30 o'clock at her home on Railroad Street, following a heart attack. She had been around the house as usual throughout the day and had received visitors in the evening.
She was born November 5, 1868, in the Town of Ephratah, a daughter of Chauncey and Mary Ropeter Weaver, and spent her younger days there. When she and Mr. Burke were married on December 10, 1890, they removed to Jacksonburg, later coming to Fonda where she had resided the past 31 years. She was a member of the Fonda Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service of that church.
The survivors are four sons, George Burke, Fultonvllle. Reed and Harry Burke, Fonda, and LeRoy Burke, Ilion; one daughter, Mrs. Mae Saltsman, Fonda; one sister, Mrs. George Plantz, Schenectady; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and several neices and nephews
The body was removed to the Jackson funeral home and will be returned to the family home tonight where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Herbert S. Roberts, former pastor of the Fonda Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats.

Mrs. Mae Saltsman, 57, ov 337 North Perry Street, former Fonda resident, died unexpectedly at 3:45 yesterday morning at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, where she had been taken Saturday Night.
She was born Oct. 31, 1893, in the Town of Ephratah, daughter of Ira J. and Melinda Weaver Burke. She spent most of her life in this vicinity.
She was married to Benjamin Saltsman of Fonda, Feb. 3, 1915. Mr. Saltsman died June 2, 1942.
She was an attendant of the Fonda Methodist Church and a member of the Tekawitha Lodge of Rebekah.
Survivors are three brothers, Reed and LeRoy Burke, both of Johnstown and Harry Burke of Fonda, and aunt, several neices and nephews.

FONDA—Funeral services for Benjamin A. Saltsman, village trustee and hotel owner, who died Tuesday at the Little Falla hospital, were held yesterday afternoon at the Home on Main street, with the Rev. Herbert S. Roberta, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. The services were largely attended.
There were floral tributes from the Saltsman family reunion, employes of Saltaman's hotel, Fonda lodge, 773, IOOF, Snell Hose Company, No. 1, Fonda Fire Department, No. 2, Cordone Bottling works, Keinhart Distributing Company, Columbia Novelty Company, the mayor. Board of Trustees and Village clerk of Fonda, relatives and friends .
The bearers were Glen Saltsman, Emery Saltsman, both of Fonda, Lloyd Saltsman and Elmer Saltsman, both of Tribes Hill, Roy Burke of Mohawk and Melvin Burke of Gloversville.
Interment was made In Evergreen Cemetery at Sand Flats.
On Tuesday night delegations from the Snell Hose Company, Fonda Fire Department and the IOOF called at the home to pay their respects.
Mourners were present yesterday from Fultonville, Ephratah, Tribes Hill, Fort Plain. Mohawk. Ilion, Fort Johnson. Johnstown, Gloversville, Schenectady and Brooklyn.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Albert Judd. D. D., pastor of the church and the double ring ceremony was used. The bride, who was given In marriage by hrr father, wore a gown of white satin with a long veil of white tulle and carried a bouquet of white roses. Mrs. Herbert Silvefnail. Ilion, sister of the bride, was matron of honor and was gowned in yellow mussollne de soie. and carried yellow roses.
Harry Burke, Fonda, a brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the parlors of the church where a buffet luncheon was served.
After a brief wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Burke will reside in Mohawk where a newly furnished apartment awaits them. Mrs. Burke attended the Ilon School and is now a stenographer In the office of the Remington Arms Company. Mr. Burke, who attended the Fonda High School, is also employed at the Arms plant at Ilion.

Mrs. Llbbie E. Shults, 69, Johnstown, widow of Edward Shults, died yesterday In the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Glovcrsvillc, where she had been a patient ten days.
She had been in failing health for some time and when her condition became serious ahe was removed from the home of her daughter, Mra. Gertrude Ward, 456 North Market Street, Johnstown, where she resided, to the hospital.
Mrs. Shults was born in the Town of Ephratah, April 26, 1872, daughter of Chauncey Weaver and Mary
Ann Ropeter.
She was a resident of Johnstown for 33 years. Her husband died 27 years ago.
The survivors, besides the daughter with whom she made her home, are five other daughters, Mrs. Lula Lake, Caroga Lake, Mrs. Viola Ford, Johnstown, Mrs. Lena Pfleigl and Mrs. Sarah Clark, Gloversville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Simons, Red Bank, N. J.; three sons, Raymond Shults, Amsterdam, Harold Shults, Tribes Hill, and Walter Shults, Johnstown; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. George Plantz, Schenectady, and Mrs. Ira Burke, Fonda; also several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Ward in Johnstown. Interment will be in the Rockwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah Ellen Procita, 43, wife of Salvatore Procita of 55 Bleecker street, died at 2:05 yesterday morning In the Nathan Littauer hospital, where she had been a patient three weeks.
Mrs. Procita was born June 17, 1901 at Rockwood. the daughter of Edward and Elisabeth Weaver Shults and resided in this county most of her life. She had lived In Gloversville for the past four and one half, years. She was a member of the Episcopal church.
The survivors besides her husband are five sisters: Mrs. Clarence Lake of Caroga Lake, Mrs. William Fort and Mrs. John Ward of Johnstown. Mrs. Frank Pfliegl of Gloversville and Mrs. Leo Simon of Westport, Conn.; three brothers, Raymond Shults of Amsterdam, Harold of Johnstown and Pvt. Walter Shults, now at Rhodes hospital in Utica; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the heme of Mrs. Pfliegl, 32 Woodward avenue, Saturday afternoon at 2 with the Rev. Fred.Clarke of the Fremont Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Rockwood cemetery.

He was born March 29, 1882 in Lassellsville, the son of Francis and Agnes Weaver. He was the husband of Ella Mae Smith who died in 1937.
He retired form M. Denkert & Sons, Johnstown in 1950. He resided at the Third Street address snce 1953.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Charles Tuttle, Gloversville; three sisters, Mrs Adeline Van Slyke, Wells; Mrs. Victor Hyde, Johonstown; and Mrs. Floyd Palmateer, Rockwood; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and neices and nephews.

Mrs. Ella May Smith Weaver, 66, wife of Reuben Weaver, and lifelong resident of Fulton county, died yesterday afternoon about 4:55 at the family home, 222 North Perry street.
She had been in failing health three years and her condition had grown gradually worse since July. A complication of diseases was given as the cause of death.
Mrs. Weaver waa born in the Town of Johnstown, January 1, 1871, the daughter of George and Betsy Weaver Smith. The greater part of her life had been spent in and around Johnstown.
Mrs. Weaver had never affiliated with any religious or fraternal organizations but had devoted the most of her time to her home. A host of friends throughout the county will mourn her passing.
The survivors, besides her husband, are one daughter, Mrs. Charles Tuttle, of Gloversville; one sister, Mrs. Roxy Sayles, of Syracuse; four brothers, Alexander Smith of Johnstown, Thomas Smith of Rochester, John H. Smith of Stone Arabia and Chauncey R. Smith of Amsterdam; also seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The remains were removed to the A. G. Cole funeral home where the funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2. The Rev. Edward L. Swartout, Jr., of the Reformed church will officiate. Burial will he made In the Rockwood cemetery.

On Saturday, the 3d inst., at the home of Frank Rice, town clerk of Palatine, occurred the marriage of Miss Ella M. Smith, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, of Palatine, and Reuben Weaver of this place, the ceremony being performed by Rev. W. D. Baum, of Canajoharie.
On the following day the newly wedded couple came to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Weaver, parents of the groom, where a number of relatives had assembled, among whom were Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver and Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Smith of, Rockwood, Cornell Smith of Palatine, Miss Etta Weaver of Johnstown and Mr. and Mrs. Dorn Van Slyke.
The bride and groom were among a party who went to Canada Lake on Monday. They will be guests for two weeks at the home of John H. Smith of Palatine, after which they will take up their residence in Johnstown where the groom is employed in Streeter's mill.
Mr. Weaver is a young man of good habits and has many friends who wish for him and his bride much happiness.

Born Nov. 23, 1884 in the Town of Ephratah, daughter of Francis and Agnes Wheeler Weaver, she had lived in Johnstown until entering the infirmary.
Mrs. Van Slyke was a glove silker, last employed by the Conroy Glove Company until retiring about 1950.
She was the widow of Dorn R. Van Slyke, who died Dec. 23, 1948.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Tamerlyn T. Chamberlain of Johnstown; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Polmateer of Rockwood; 10 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.

Dorn R. Van Slyke, aged 88. died this afternoon about 12:30 at his home, 214 Burton street after having been in failing health five years.

Mr. Van Slyke was married in 1902 at Floyd, N. Y, to Adeline Weaver and they moved to Johnstown
in 1918
He was a leather worker and was employed for more than 20 years at the former Adams Buckskin mill. He had been retired since that business was discontinued.
The survivors are his wife, two sons. Everett and Roy Van Slyke, and two daughters, Mrs. David Cool and Mrs. Agnes E. Chamberlain, all of Johnstown; one sister, Mrs. Nellie McGarry of New London, N. Y., also seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Cool was employed for many years at Crescendoe Glove Company. She was a member of the United Glove Workers of America.

BORN FEB. 1, 1895 in Johnstown, he was a lifelong city resident. He was married on Oct 29, 1943, in Johnstown to the former Miss Ethel E. Van Slyke, who died Oct. 24, 1960.
Mr. Cool was a 48-year employe of the Johnstown Knitting Mill, where he held the position of foreman. He was a member of the Johnstown Eagles lodge.
Survivors are two cousins, Mrs. Frederick Ernst of Johnstown and Dr. David Vrooman of Schenectady. The bride wore black velvet with matching accessories, and a corsage of red roses. The matron of honor wore gold crepe witti accessories to match, and a corsage of bronze and pink pom poms.
The attendants were presented with personal gifts.
After a several days wedding trip, the newlyweds will take up their residence in a newly furnished apartment at 206 Burton street.
The bride is employed in the William Dovey factory in Gloversville, and the bridegroom is foreman of the dyehouse of the Johnstown Knitting Mill Co.

Henry J. Nellis, 80, of Johnstown RD 1 died at 12:15 yesterday afternoon at Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in failing health since October.
Born May 20, 1894 in Stone Arabia, he was the son of Emmett and Elizabeth Sammons Nellis. His wife, the former Etta Mae Weaver, died in January 1954.
He was a lifelong area resident, and attended Stone Arabia schools. Mr. Nellis was of the Methodist faith.
He was employed for a number of years by the State Highway Department, retiring in 1960. He was also an Army veteran of World War I, serving in France.
Mr. Nellis was a member of the World War I Veterans Barracks of Gloversville, Royal Mountain VFW Post and Sammonsville volunteer fire department.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur of Johnstown and Roger of Johnstown RD 1; a sister, Mrs. Abbie Hisert of Fonda; two brothers, Harry of Johnstown and Charles of Johnstown RD 1; three grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Victor J. Hyde, 67, of 58 West Eleventh Avenue, proprietor of the Vic Hyde Sales and Service auto agency, died at 5:15 yesterday afternoon at the Johnstown Hospital where he had been a patient the last three weeks. He had been in ill health eight months.
He was born Oct. 21, 1900, in Johnstown and had resided in Gloversville for the last five years. He had operated the auto agency at 415 South Main Street for 47 years.
Mr. Hyde was a member of the Gloversville Elks Lodge, Johnstown Eagles Lodge and the Fulton County Republican Committee. He was president of the Mohawk - Hudson Humane Society and past president of the Fulton County Automobile Dealers Association. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Elena Ardizzone; one son, Frank Hyde of Star Route, Hagaman; two brothers, George Hyde of Johnstown and Clifford Hyde of Gloversville; five sisters, Mrs. Arthur Fleming of Canajoharie, Mrs. Francis Hale, Mrs. Donald England and Mrs. William Taglialatela, all of Johnstown, and Mrs. Angelo Entelisano of Las Vegas, Nev.; one granddaughter, several nieces and nephews.

Miss Elizabeth Ann Fulton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fulton, of 107 West Third street, Oswego, was married to Francis Hyde, son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hyde. 2 Parkwood avenue, last Wednesday evening at 8 at a Baptist church in Rocheater. A double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. T. Harding.
The bride is a geraduate of Oswego High school and Oswego Normal school and is now employed at the Army depot at Mitchel Field, L. I.
Mr. Hyde was graduated from Johnstown High and Oswego Normal. He is supervisor of the Industrial Department of the Freeport, L. I. schools.
The newlyweds will reside at 210 Pine Sstreet, Freeport.
Saturday night the bride was given a variety shower at the home of Mrs. Victor Hyde, Games were played and prizes awarded. The guest of honor was the reciepent of gifts.

JOHNSTOWN — Funeral services for Floyd Polmateer Sr., 72, of. Rockwood, RD 2, Johnstown, who died early Thursday at the Johnstown Hospital shortly after being admitted, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Cole funeral home.
Rev. Robert Dettmer of the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Rockwood Cemetery.
Born Aug. 17, 1893 in the Town. of Ephratah, he was a lifelong area resident, and was last employed by the Alma Leather Co., Gloversville. He was of the Methodist faith.
A World war I army veteran, he was a past commander of Royal Mount post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and past commander of Glove Cities barracks, Veterans of World war I.
Suvivors are his widow, Mrs. Jennie Weaver Polmateer; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Hulsaver of Johnstown, Mrs. John Herron of Greenwich, and Miss Kathryn Polmateer of Rockwood; four sons, Sergeant Ivan E. Polmateer serving with the air force in England, Floyd Polmateer Jr., of RD 2, Gloversville, William Polmateer and Leo Polmatee, both of Rockwood; two sisters, Mrs. Flora House of Johnstown and Mrs. Dorothy Harris of Utica; two brothers, Jesse Polmateer of Fort Hunter and Chauncey Polmateer of Utica.

Amie E. Hulsaver, age 83, of Gloversville passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after an extended illness. She was born on December 8, 1926 in Rockwood, a daughter of the late Floyd Polmateer and Jessie Weaver Polmateer. She was employed at the former Baronet Litho in Johnstown for over 25 years. She retired in 1992. Survivors include one sister, Velma Herron of Heuvelton; one brother, William Polmateer of Rockwood; nieces, nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Katherine Polmateer; six brothers, Ivan Polmatier, Floyd Polmateer Jr., Charles Polmateer, Marvin Polmateer, Virgil Polmateer, and Leo J. Polmateer.
Graveside services will be conducted in the spring at Rockwood Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.

The funeral of Virgil James Polmateer, 16 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Polmateer, who passed away last Tuesday night at the Albany City hospital, was held from the home in Rockwood yesterday afternoon at 2. Rev. W. C. Kongsted, pastor of the Rockwood Methodist church officiated. There were many floral tributes, interment was made in the Rockwood cemetery.

Leo J. Polmateer, age 70, a resident of Rockwood, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a long illness. He was born May 5, 1939 in Rockwood, a son of the late Floyd Polmateer Sr. and Jennie Weaver Polmateer.
Leo served his Country in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1964. He attended the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include two sisters, Amie Hulsaver of Gloversville and Velma Herron of Heuvelton: one brother, William Polmateer of Rockwood; nieces, nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Ivan Polmatier, Floyd Polmateer Jr., Charles Polmateer, Marvin Polmateer and Virgil Polmateer; one sister, Katherine Polmateer.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Kenneth Sickler will preside
Friends and family may call on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Alexander Smith, 69, lifelong resident of Fulton County, died suddenly last night about 7 at the family home, 314 West Clinton street.
Hs suffered a heart attack Wednesday night but had apparently recovered and was up and about his home yesterday. Last night he was stricken with another attack and passed away a short timme later.
Mr. Smith was born in the Town of Ephratah, April 3. 1869, the son of George H. Smith and Betsy Weaver. He had followed the occupation of general trucking and also worked at farming.
Mr. Smith had resided in Johnstown for about twenty years and had a large circle of friends.
The survivors are his widow, Mrs. Bertha Ostrom Smith, two daughters, Mrs. Err Miller, Brockman's Corners, and Miss Zena Smith, Gloversville, one son, Roy Smith, Gloversville; three brothers, Thomas Smith, Rochester, John Smith, Stone Arabia, and Chanucey Smith, Amsterdam; one sister, Mrs. Roxy Fusmer, Syracuse; eighteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
The remains were removed to the A. G. Cole funeral home to be prepared for burial. Tomorrow morning they will be taken to the home of his son, Roy Smith, 69 Division street, Gloversville, where the funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 2 The Rev. Edward L Swartout, Jr. of the Reformed church will officiate and burial will be made in the Ephratah cemetery.

Mrs. Bertha (Ostrum) Smith, 77, died Saturday at 8:10 a. m. in the Capitol Nursing Home, where she had been a patient three months.
She was born In Laasellsville, July 11, 1875, daughter of Alvin Ostrum and Sarah (Gray) Ostrum.
She formerly resided at 114 West Clinton Street, Johnstown, but had resided in Gloversville for five years.
Her husband, Alexander, died Nov. 25, 1938. She attended the Methodist Church at Laasellsville.
The survivors are one son, Roy, of the Mountain Road; two daughters, Zena Smith of Gloversville, and Mrs, Ada Miller of RD 1, Johnstown; four brothers, John, of Johnstown, David, Alvin and Edward of Ephratah; 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at the Cole Funeral Home, Johnstown, today at 2. The Rev. Wllmer M. Zuehlke will officiate. Burial will be made at Ephratah.

The next case on the calendar is a divorce action with a Jury, one of the few of its kind ever tried in Oneida county before 12 Jurymen. Edward J. Booth is suing Zena Smith Booth, both of Utica for divorce. They were married in October, 1921. in Canajoharie and separated two years ago.
