- Obituary (Jefferson County Democrat, Adams, NY, Wed. Mar 16, 1927)
Mrs. John W Weaver
On Saturday evening, Marh 12th, occured the death of Flora Amelia Weaver at her home on Park street, aged 70 years. Mrs. Weaver had been a sufferer from complications which resulted in a serious heart trouble for several years and her death was not unexpected. She was born in Redfield, Nov. 29, 1857, and married John W. Weaver in Lorraine, March 26, 1876. Their golden wedding anniversary was observed by the family last year when gifts were made and a social time was spent in their home.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Miles Peters and Mrs Harry Ripley, with three grand-daughters and one grandson, of Adams; also two sisters. Mrs Nellie Ostrander of Watertown and Mrs. Sarah Brown of Adams; and two brothers, William Castor of Wayne Co., N.Y. and Joe Castor of Lacona.
Mr. and Mrs. Weaver came to Adams to live eight years ago from Butterville. Mrs Weaver was of a kindly temperament, devoted to her family and the home, and her friends are reminded in her passing that they who most live are those who think most, feel the noblest and act the best.
He funeral was held yesterday from her late home, Rev. Grant Chambers, pastor of the Baptist church officiating. Burial was made in Rural cemetery, with many beautiful flowers around her, which expressed the love of relatives and neighbors.
"Gently bear the wearied form
Into the phantom bark;
She will not fear - Christ went before,
The way will not be dark;
And safe beyond the troubled stream,
Her tired heart's strife o'er,
Our andel mother, glorified,
Will grow old nevermore."
