Neither the 1800 birthplace of Christian nor his father's 1809 place of death has been identified, but both are presumed to be in Dilleburg, then in Palatine.
Christian was married to Nancy Thumb in 1923 per records in St. John's Reformed Church, now in St. Johnsville. St. Johnsville was taken off from Oppenheim and formed as a town in 1838 at the division of Montgomery County and the formation of Fulton County. The town of Oppenheim in 1838 became part of Fulton County and just north of St. Johnsville. Christian was probably living in 1830 near Nancy's parents in Oppenheim. Following the census readings of Nancy's father, this was the part of Oppenheim which remained in Fulton County. The children of Christian and Nancy are listed here as born in Montgomery County until 1838. (Clyde Getman)

Nancy's father, Nicholas, was listed in Palatine in 1790 and 1800, and in Oppenheim in 1810, 1820, 1830, and 1840. He was living in Oppenheim in 1850 next to Adam Thumb. St. Johnsville was formed and taken off from Oppenheim when Fulton County was formed in 1838 and taken off from Montgomery County. (Clyde Getman)

- Jacob Getman ... was born 1 Mar 1802 in Stone Arabia in what is now Ephratah, Fulton, NY, s/o Christian (1772) s/o Christian (1734) s/o Frederick (1693). He married (1) Lana Suits (1789-1856) and (2) Sarah _____ (1800-1870). Jacob and Lana had at least three children born in Stone Arabia between 1823 and 1836. Jacob is buried in Alexandria Bay, Jefferson, NY. With a child baptized in Fulton County in 1836, Jacob may have migrated to Jefferson County after that time.
- His son Elias (1823-1882), following service as a Captain of Artillery in the Civil War, became involved in the hotel business and established what later was known as the Getman House in Theresa, Jefferson, NY. I think it maybe another hotel operated as a family business until the descendants ceased around 1940 or so. (Clyde Getman)
- The Getman House was destroyed by fire, Sunday Dec 7, 2003
"Fire investigators up in Jefferson County are trying to determine what caused a major block fire in the Village of Theresa. The fire began Sunday night just before 9:00 pm.
It took seventeen fire crews from Jefferson and St Lawrence Counties to get the fire under control. One firefighter was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Most of the buildings destroyed in the fire were vacant. A village landmark, the Getman House Hotel, was also destroyed in the fire.
The village Mayor declared a state of emergency allowing an excavation crew to knock down part of a building preventing the fire from spreading any further."
