- Frank Berry figured in a sensational case in Fulton Co. He apparently seduced Agnes Beard while still married to Dora, and Agnes had a child. She ran away to be with him, and he stashed her in a hotel in Amsterdam, where he visited her. She was taken away by her brothers, leaving the child, and Frank was arrested for child abandonment and non-support. He was not prosecuted, however, because on the appointed court date, none of the other parties showed up. This all happened in 1908, and apparently he and Dora divorced, because in 1910 he was married to Agnes and livng in Oneida Co. On the 1910 census, he claimed that his marriage to Agnes was his first marriage, but it obviously was not. References to Mrs. Frank Berry doing things with Frank's mother and grandfather appeared in the 1908 papers also. (Gaudio)- Obituary (Amsterdam Evening Recorder, August 21, 1956)

The village was saddened on Thursday, Feburary 2, by the death of Alvin J. Berry in the Little Falls hospital where he had been a patient for six days. Mr. Berry had suffered for several years from a disease for which as yet no cure has been perfected.
He was born in Sept. 19, 1896 in the town of Ephratah, a son of Frank Berryh and the late Dora Snell Berry.
His early boyhood was spent in St. Johnsville and after leaving school he resided for several years in Fhineback where he was assistant postmaster. He passed a Civil Service examination for postal clerk while there.
Later he became interested in banking and upon his return to St. Johnsville in March 1920, he became teller at the St. Johnsville Bank. His interest in his work helped him to advance rapidly and in October 1922 he was advanced to assistant cashier. He became cashier and trust officer at the bank in 1929, a position which he held until May 1943 when due to his state of health, he requested to be releaved of his duties and responsibilities. He remained with the bank as assistant cashier and retained that position when the local bank was made a branch of the Canajoharie Bank.
Mr. Berry was always interested in furthering his knowledge of banking and in 1937, completed a cours in trusts and invewstments at Rutgers University graduating with the first class from that institution.
His interest in all community affairs was never retarded by his state of health and he was a past chairman of the Board of Review of the Boy Scouts of America, being a member of the county Court of Honor.
He was a member of St. John's Reformed Church, of which he served as treasurer for several years. He was a member of St. Johnsville Lodge No. 611 F.&A.M. of which he was a past master and of Maquaes Chapter No. 202 O.E.S. where he served as worthy patron for several years.
He was a meber of the St. Johnsvilole Fire Dept., while health permitted, and at the time of passing was treasurer of the St. Johnsville Centrl Schools.
Mr. Berry's cheerfulness and interest in all local and civic affairs, in spite of his health was an inspiration to all who knew him, and will linger long in the minds of those who had worked with him and knew hima as a friend.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. ehtel Christman Berry; his father, Frank Berry of Ephratah and one uncle Elmer Snell, who is a patient in the Hagar Nursing Home in Little Falls.
The body remained in the Lull Funeral Home until Saturday morning when it was taken to St. John's Reformed Church, where funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., by the pastor Rev. Ernest Crouse. The body was placed in the chapel for burial in St. Johnsville cemetery in the spring.
Bearers at the funeral were Harlan A. Devendorf, Earl Hiik; William Lathers, Jr., Nellis P. Smith, Roy Goodale and Leo Maneini.
