 - Obituary (Schenectady Gazette, New York, Friday, March 1, 1940)
Vrooman Swart, 58, of 39 Barrett street, a lifelong resident of Schenectady and vicinity, died yesterday afternoon, possibly the victim of a fall on ice.
Mr. Swart was found dead at the entrance of his garage stall in the rear of 250 Union street. He was discovered face down on the ground by another garage renter, Arthur Longfelder of 4 Union street, who called Dr. Elizabeth V. R. Gillette. She pronounced Mr. Swart dead.
An investigation conducted by Dr. Emll J. Senn. coroner; Detective Sergeant Bert Weatherwax and Acting Detective Sergeant Joseph Foley. Indicated Mr. Swart had just stepped out of his automobile and was about to unlock the stair when he was either stricken or slipped on ice.
Dr. Senn said there was a possibility that death might have been indirectly caused by a natural condition and withheld a verdict ponding a more thorogh investigation.
Mr. Swart's face and head struck the garage door in the fall and then the conrcrete driveway which slightly inclines upward toward the garage.
Mr Swart was born in Glenville, a son of the late Catherine Vrooman and Clarence R. Swart and for many years worked in Schenectady and vicinity as a carpenter and interior decorator. He was unmarried.

 - Newspaper Article (Daily Leader, Gloversville, NY, Monday, October 12, 1896)
Willard Bemis and William Rudd of this city have been talking down an old house located on Mr. Bemis' farm, about two and one-half miles east of this city. The house was at one time used as an Indian trading store, which was kept by one John Bell, nearly two hundred years ago. The house is quite well preserved, and is being taken down with care, as Mr. Bemis expects to use a part of the building in the construction of his new barn at No. 176 North Main street, this city. The house is built with a double fireplace, and the kitchen is a large rambling old room, measuring 17 by 20 feet. It was a story and a half structure, the upper part being used as a store room and contained several old spinning wheels, looms and reels nearly as old as the house. Some of these have been preserved and are considered quite valuable by their owners.
