  Fonda, Nov 11, Funeral services for C. Ellsworth Everson, Montgomery Terrace, Fonda, who died Monday evening following a lingering illness, were held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, at the Jackson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gerald J. Koster, pastor of the Reformed Church, officiating. Interment was made in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Bearers were James T. Bergen, Chester Austin and John Frohn, Fonda, and Charles Veeder, Fultonville. Flowers were from office employees of Soil Conservation Service, Hickory Hill neighbors, Fonda neighbors, Town of Mohawk Volunteer Fire Department and Stone Arabia Church. Attending from out of town were relatives and friends from Cobleskill, Fort Plain, Canajoharie, Fultonville, Johnstown, Nelliston and Stone Arabia. Note: Mr. Everson was the son of Levi and Elizabeth Shults Everson and was married to Mary Elizabet Lilley and Katherine Myers and is survived by one son, Stanley L Everson.

  Stanley L. Everson, 73, of Cayadutta street, Fonda, died Tuesday night in St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, where he had been a patient one day.
  He was born in the Town of Mohawk May 7, 1887, son of Ellsworth and Catherine Meyer Everson and had lived in the township most of his life. In 1908. he married Martha Frohn of Fonda. Ten years ago Mr. Everson retired from farming and they moved to the Cayadutta street home.
  He Was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stone Arabia, Fulton Lodge, 531, F. and A. M., Fonda Community Club, and Evergreen Cemetery Association. He was president of the Town of Mohawk Fire district a director of the Town of Minden Insurance company, treasurer of the Montgomery county Extension Service, director of Montgomery County 4-H Association, a member of the State and National Grange.
  Besides his wife, survivors include several cousins.
  The funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m., at the Jackson Funeral home, Fonda, with the Rev. Richard W. Reiger, pastor, of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Fort Plain, officiating. Interment will be made in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda.

  Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Everson, 78, of 13 Cayadutta Street, died shortly after midnight this morning in Johnstown Hospital, where she had been a patient two days.
  She was the widow of Stanley Everson.
  She was born Sept. 1, 1888, in the Town of Palatine, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Lenz Frohn.
  She attended the area schools and on March 11,1908, was married to Mr. Everson by Rev. Foster Stone, then pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Johnstown.
  The couple then moved to Fonda and Mr. Everson died Aug. 5, 1960. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 11, 1958.
  Mrs. Everson was a member of the Public Health Association of Montgomery County, the Parliamentary School of Fonda and Fultonville, the state and national Grange, Trinity Lutheran Church of Stone Arabia and the Ladles Aid and Missionary societies of the church.
  Survivors include a nephew, Konrad Frohn of Fonda: one niece, Mrs. R. Elisabeth Williams of Hartsdale; one grandnephew and three grandnleces.

  Mary Elizabeth Everson, 90, widow of Ellsworth Everson of Upper Prospect Street, Fonda, died yesterday afternoon at the Van Lone Nursing Home in Johnstown.
  She was born September 28, 1884, in Bloomfield, Pa., a daughter of Duane and Mary Cummings Liley.
  She received her education in the Spartenburg, Pa., schools and was graduated from Clarion, Pa., State Normal School and a business college at Butler, Pa. She taught school and was principal for many years at the Johnsonburg, Pa., High School. On August 25. 1905, she was married to Mr. Everson coming to Fonda where she has since made her home.
  She was a member of the Fonda Reformed Church. The Women's League For Service of that church and for many years taught a Sunday school class.
   Survivors are one stepson, Stanley L. Everson, Fonda, one niece and several nephews.

  Raymond Everson, 92, a former resident of 42 Wheelock street, Canajoharie, died Monday morning at the Canajoharie Nursing Home where he had been a patient several months.
  Mr Everson was born in Stone Arabia Dec. 21. 1867, son of Levi and Elizabeth Shults Everson, and had operated a farm in the Town of Root for many years before coming to Canajoharie Dec. 1, 1927. His wife, Mrs. Mary Christman Everson, died in 1942.
  Everson was a member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church, having transferred his membership from the Currytown Reformed Church.
  Survivors are one son, Clarence Everson, Cooperstown; one grand daughter, Mrs. William A. Kniskern and a great-grandson. Jeffrey Leland Kniskern, Sprakers RD; two cousins, Mrs. Bertha Getman. Palatine Bridge, and Emory Everson. Little Falls.
  The funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at the Houghtaling Funeral home with the Rev. Earl Van Leeuwen, pastor of the Canaioharie Reformed Church, officiating Burial was made in the Fort Plain cemetery.

  The death of Raymond G. Everson, father of C. C. Everson of this village, occurred Monday morning in the Canajoharie Nursing Home in that village following a heart attack. He was 92 years old.
  Mr. Everson, a retired farmer, had lived in the town of Root, Montgomery County, all of his adult life.
  He is survived by his son, and a granddaughter.
  Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at- 2 o'clock from the Houghtaling Funeral Home in Canajoharie.

  Clarence C. Everson, 75, died at his home on Pioneer street, Cooperstown, Sept. 22.
  A native of Lynk street, Town of Root, Mr. Everson was the elder son of the late Raymond and Mary Christman Everson. He received his education in the rural schools.
  On Thanksgiving Day, 1914, he was united in marriage to Ruth Dievendorf, daughter of the late  Charles and Alice Dievendorf, Currytown, who survives him. A niece, Rita Everson Kniskern, is the only other survivor.
 He had been a Cooperstown resident for many years and had been an automobile salesman before his retirement.
  Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home, Cooperstown. Interment was made Monday in the Fort Plain Cemetery. The Rev. Albert Almstadt, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Cooperstown, officiated at the funeral.

Flood Spoils His Dinner
Webster Saltsman of Wagner's Hollow, who lives on the low land near the Garoga creek, while eating dinner a few days ago. was driven from the house with his family, by the rapid rising of the water, which came pouring into the dining room windows. All of the outbuildings, consisting of hen houses and woodsheds, were washed from their foundations, causing much damage.

FRESHET NEARLY WRECKED PLACE.
FORT PLAIN, Feb. 25. - The recent rains, causing the rapid rising of streams, and the emptying of those streams of ice, came close to be extremely serious to Webster Saltsman of Wagner's Hollow, whose property stands very close to Garoga Creek.. The high water and ice carried away and damaged nearly all of the smaller buildings on his place, and name dangerously near covering the first floor of his home.

  Fort Plain, Oet. 20.—Webster Saltsman, aged 62 years, died at his home in Nelliston, Sunday morning, at 9:25 o'clock, after an illness of two years, death being due to a complication of diseases. He was born in the town of Palatine, September 23, 1862, a son of the late Jacob H. and Nancy Kilts Saltsman. In politics he was a Republican and for four years served as clerk of the town of Palatine. He was a member of Mohawk Valley lodge, No. 66, Knights of Pythias. Mr. Saltsman leaves his wife, two sons, Elgie, of Little Falls and Roy, of Deansboro; a daughter, Mrs. george Stratmoyer, of Nelliston; one Brother, Remeyn, and a grandaughter, Ila Saltsman, of Palatine. The funeral will be held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Stanley Haverly of the Lutheran church of Stone Arabia, officiating. Interment in the Fort Plain cemetery.

  Mrs. Ina Stretmoyer, 91, formerly of East Main Street, Nelliston, died late Saturday evening at Palatine Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1979.
  Born Aug. 4, 1894, in the Town of Palatine, she was a daughter of Webster and Minnie Saltsman Saltsman and was a lifetime area resident.
  On Oct. 2, 1920, she was married to George Stretmoyer, who died May 24, 1949.
  She had attended Trinity Lutheran Church of Stone Arabia.
  The only survivors are two nieces, Miss Ila Saltsman of St. Johnsville and Mrs. Ruth Anna Hubschmitt of Dolgeville; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
  Private funeral services were held at Swartz Funeral Home Inc. 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was in Fort Plain Cemetery

Elmer G. Rickard
Elmer George Rickard, well known resident of Kendall County, passed away, April 3 at the St. Charles Hospital in Aurora, at the age of 86 years.
   Mr. Rickard, long a farmer living in a beautiful home on Route 34, was born December 8, 1861, in Bristol. He is survived by three children and six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren: Harry L. Rickard, Chicago, Clara R. Quinsey, Los Angeles, California, and Bessie R. Reddock, Yorkville.
   He was a member of Raven Lodge No 303 A. F. & A. M. of Oswego, and Lorraine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, also of Oswego.
   Masonic services were conducted by Raven Lodge at the Federated Church in Yorkville, the Rev. Walter S. Henry and the Rev. Daniel Laverty Eckert officiating.
   Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, near Bristol.

  William J. Saltsman. 84. died at his home in Nelliston Friday noon following a heart attack. He had suffered from a heart condition for some time.
  He was born in the Town of Palatine, September 12, 1867. son of Harrison and Matilda Katherine Shults Saltsman. Mr. Saltsman was  a retired weaver, having been employed by the Palatine Dyeing company of St. Johnsville.
  He was a member of the Old Palatine church. Mr. Saltsman had been a resident of Nelliston for the past 17 years.
  The survivors are his wife. Mrs. Ada Mowrey Saltsman; two daughters, Mrs. Morris Kling, Canajoharie; and Mrs. William Kelsey, Hamburg: two sons. Harrison Saltsman, Starkville and Alton Saltsman, Nelliston; one sister, Mrs. Viola Nellis, Schenectady; three step-sisters, Mrs, Lulu Merkel, Mrs. Arthur Shults, and Mrs. Manly Shults all of Fort Plain; one step-brother Everett Saltsman, Fort Plain; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
  Services were held Tuesday afgternoon at 2 at the Swartz Funeral Home, with Rev. Stanley Harvey officiating. Burial was made in Fort Plain cemetery.

  Mrs. Irene Saltsman, 75, Casselberry, Fla., died in Florida Hospital, South Orlando, Friday morning after a long illness.
  Born Feb. 8, 1905, in Benson Mines, she was the daughter of Joseph and Agnes DeCosse King.
   She and her late husband, Harrison Saltsman, lived in Starkville until his death July 6, 1969.
 She attended St. Augustine Catholic Church in Casselberry and was a member of the Augies Elders Senior Citizens.
  Survivors include four sons, Roland Trance with whom she lived, James and Herbert Trance, Albany, and Joseph Trance, Mechanicville; a daughter, Mrs. Caroline D' Arcangeiis, Fort Plain; a brother, Oscar King Clayton; a sister, Mrs. Laura Marsala, Watertown; 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
   Service s were held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home Inc., and at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. John Roos celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.
  Burial was made in Fort Plain Cemetery.
 The Rosary was recited Monday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

  Mrs. Voilla Nellis, 100, widow of Daniel Nellis, formerly of Main street. Fort Plain, died Sunday in a Utica Hospital following a short illness.
  Born October 21, 1870, in the Town of Palatine, she was a daughter of Harrison and Matilda Catherine Shults Saltsman. She was married to Mr Nellis August 9, 1893, and they resided in Schenectady until his death in 1927 Three years later she returned to Fort Plain, where she had since resided.
  Mrs Nellis was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a member of the Dorcas-LCW of the church.
  Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Aleda M Weaver, Johnstown, a grandson, CWO Terrill Weaver, Eatontown, N. J.; six great grandchildren, two half sisters. Mrs Manly Shults and Mrs Arthur Shults, both of Fort Plain, and several nieces and nephews.

was born in Ephratah. The Nellis family was one of the earliest Palatine German families to settle in the Mohawk valley.

  Watervliet ... John v. Anderson died yesterday in his home of Fifteenth street. He was 70 years old, and a native of the old village of West Troy. He was a veteran of the civil war and the oldest member of Laurel Lodge I. O.O. F. Mr. Anderson was also a member of the North Reformed Church. The funeral will take place Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Bortle and Scott's imdertaking rooms. Interment will be in Albany Rural cemetery. Mrs. Anderson died a short time ago.

  Camden ... The wife of Theodore H. Norton died yesterday morning of consumption at the residence of her father, Robert Noxon. Mrs. Norton was a most amiable young lady and a general favorite among her many friends who deeply mourn her death. This is Mr. Norton's second affliction of this nature, and sympathy for him is widespread and heart felt. Mrs. Norton leaves one child, a little girl about a year old. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at Mr. Noxon's residence.

  Theodore Hibbard Norton died at six o’clock Saturday evening at his home in Oneonta. He had been a patient and uncomplaining sufferer for many years, although he had been confined to his home but a short time.
  Mr. Norton was born in this village April 7, 1854, the youngest child of Orson and Melissa Hibbard Norton. He was educated in the schools of Camden, Clinton and Cazenovia. After leaving school he spent a year in the west and upon returning entered the employ of W. T. Stevens, later becoming a member of the firm of Stevens & Norton. In 1902 he moved to Oneonta and later spent a few years in California, returning to Oneonta about a years since. Mr. Norton was a Christian man and his demise will be regretted by the many friends he won in Camden and Oneonta. He was a member of the I.O.O.F., the Masons and the Royal Arch Masons.
  Mr. Norton is survived by his widow and one sister, Mrs. W. T. Stevens of this village; by four daughters, Mrs. Mabel Van Order of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mrs. Inez Morrell of Fairport; Mrs. Irene Cox of Washington, D.C., and Miss Eleanor Norton of Oneonta, and by two sons, Lloyd Norton of Utica, now with his company of National Guards in camp, and Rollie Norton of Rochester.
  The funeral was held from his late home at 7:20 o’clock Monday evening. The body was brought to this village Tuesday afternoon for burial in Forest Park cemetery. Services were conducted at the grave by Rev. C. S. MacDowell, pastor of the Congregational church.

  Mrs. Catherine Elizabeth (Hannah) Cunningham, wife of William B. Cunningham, died Wednesday at her home, No. 1101 State street, Schenectady, after an illness of six weeks with heart complications. The funeral will take place at the house at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Clayton J. Potter of the First Reformed church, of Schenectady, officiating. Interment will be in Vale cemetery in that city.
  Mrs. Cunningham was born at Paris, Ill., the daughter of James and Caroline (Vrooman) Hannah, but came to Schenectady when three years of age. Her mother was a member of one of the oldest of its families. In 1882 she was married to William B. Cunningham. She was a member of the State Street Presbyterian church in that city. Mrs. Cunningham is survived by her husband and four children, Caroline Vrooman Cunningham, Mrs. Clifford Van Dyke and Leonard, of Schenectady, and Prof. James Hannah Cunningham, of Pasadena, Cal. She also leaves a brother, A. A. Hannah of Paris, Ill., and a sister, Mrs. J. W. McMullen, of  Schenectady. Mrs. Cunningham is a cousin of Mrs. John H. Wilkie. of this city.

  William B. Cunningham died at 12:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 1101 State street, from thombosis, after being ill since Saturday noon. A doctor was called at that time and Mr. Cunningham was brought out of the trouble, but yesterday morning he was seized with another spell, from which he did not rally. He was born in this city on the Maxon estate. Van Vranken avenue, February 29, 1840, and had lived in this city and vicinity all his life. About 15 years ago he retired from business. He was for a number of years in the hardware business with Clark Witbeck and in the grocery business at Lafayette street and Terrace place. Mr. Cunningham was married in 1882 to Catherine E. Hannah of this city. She died a year ago in October, Surviving him are two sons, James H. of Los Angeles, Califronia, and Leonard of this city; two daughters, Mrs. C S. Van Dyke and Caroline Cunningham of this city, and two brothers. Major and Hayes Cunningham, also both of Schenectady. The deceased was a member of the State Street Presbyterian Church. The funeral arrangements have not vet been completed.

  John H. Quackenbush, who died last evening at the Troy Hospital, was one of Lansingburgh's best known and most highly esteemed residents. He had been ill but two weeks. Mr. Quackenbush was born in Troy sixty-six years ago, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Quackenbush. His father for may years conducted a tea store on Congress Street. It was there that Mr. Quackenbush, the younger, learned his trade of salesman. When his father retired from business the tea store was disposed of and the son came to Lansingburgh, where he opened a fruit and vegitable store. Seventeen years ago he began the selling of groceries. He conducted a grocery store on Second Avenue at the time of his death. Mr. Quackenbush was a generous supporter of the First Methodist Church, of which he had been  a member since he became a resident of Lansingburgh. He lived at 675 Fourth Avenue, whence the funeral will be held. The survivors are his wife, who was Miss Mary C. Ritchie; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Hannah; two sons, George, who was associated with him in business, and William of Seattle, Wash., and a sister, Mrs. Ida M. Smityh of Leominster, Mass.

  Two women, residents of Bethesda Home, Troy, died within a few hours of each other yesterday. Mrs. Mary C. Quackenbush died in Leonard Hospital where she was taken after a fall last week in which she suffered a fractured hip. Miss Elisabeth Nash died at the home after two weeks' illness,
   Mrs. Quackenbush, formerly Miss Mary C. Richie, was born in Troy In 1858. She is survived by two stepsons, George F. Quackenbush of Troy and William Quackenbush of Seattle, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Ida Hannah of Troy. The funeral will be at 3 p. m. tomorrow tn Bethesda Home with the Rer. Leigh Diefendorf of St. Mark's Methodist Church officiating. Burial win be in Albany Rural Cemetery.
  Miss Nash was born at Sand Lake In 1863 and formerly lived in Watervliet. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, North Troy. Several brothers survive. The funeral will be. from the home at 2 p. m. Saturday. Burial will be at Sand Lake
