Turin, Feb. 21, At his home in this village occurred the death of George H. Cook, after several months' illness. Mr. Cook was born in Turin March 6, 1833, and nas resided here his entire life. On August 19, 1860, he married Miss Catherine A. Harrington, also of this town. In 1862 he enlisted with the Union Army and served for three years. Besides his widow he is survived by four children. Mrs. E. O. Pelman. Mrs. Fred Clark, Mrs. Homer Phillips and Miss Anna Cook; also by four brothers and one sister, Mather Cook of Utica. Harrison. Jerry and Nelson Cook and Mrs. William Dickinson of Turin. There are 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Turin, Dec. 2 — Mrs. Catherine Cook, 87, well known resident of this place died at her home in North State Street Thursdiy. She had been in poor health for several weeks.
She was a daughter of Albert and Margaret Harrington and was born in Houseville, April 21, 1845. She was united in marriage to George Cook, who passed away 12 years ago. She was a member of the M. E . Church of this place for many years. About 20 years ago they quietly celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
There survive two daughters, Mrs. Emery Pelham and Mrs. Fred Clark of this place also several grandchildren and great grand children.

The death of Miss Katie Effie Cook occurred at the state hospital, Ogdensburg, last Friday. Miss Cook was a daughter of George H. and Catharine Cook, of Turin,. She was born in Martinsburg in 1870. For the past six years she had been receiving treatment at the Ogdensburg hospital. Besides her parents there survive five sisters, Mrs. Martin R. Pellam, Lowville, Mrs. Emery G. Pellam, Mrs. Fred J. Clark, Miss Annie L. Cook, Miss Claribel Cook, Turin. The sorrowing family have the sympathy of friends in their sad bereavement. The remains were brought to Turin, Saturday, and the funeral services were held from the home of the parents of the deceased Tuesday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Thomas F. Alexander officiating. The text upon which his remarks were based was from I Chronicles, xxix:15, " Our days on the earth are as a Shadow, and there is none abiding." The hymns, "Home of the Soul" and "Some Sweet Morn," were rendered by Mrs. Thomas F. Alexander, Miss Mercedes Alexander, Henry Petrie and John R. Pritchard. The bearers were cousins of the deceased, Messrs. Edward and Leon Sliter, Martin Davis and Kent F. Dodge. Interment was made in the Turin cemetery.

Miss Anna L. Cook passed away at her home on West Main street at an early hour Friday morning, December 28th, after an illness dating from last March, the cause of death being enmia, and although attended by the best medical skill available she steadily declined until released by dtath of her suffering. She was tenderly cared for during her long illness by her devoted mother and sisters. Anna Cook was a daughter of the late George and Catherine Cook and was born in the town of Turin, October 20, 1880, and had always resided here. She waa a member and loyal supporter of the M. E. church and the various societies. She found her greatest pleasure in her home and home life and here the blow will fall with the greatest force. She is survived by her mother and two sisters, Mrs. Emery Pelham and Mrs. Fred J. Clark, both of this place, to whom the sympathy of the community is extended. Funeral Services were held at her late home Monday, December 31st, at 2 p. m., conducted by Rev. Albert Trickett, pastor of the M. E. church, assisted by Rev. Evan Evans, former pastor. Mrs. Jessalyn Evans and Mrs. Ursula Kidder sang "Some Day We'll Understand," "Crossing the Bar" and "Face to Face." The bearers were Edward Sliter, Leon Sliter, Kent R Dodge and J. Herbert Carpenter. A profusion of flowers from friends and relatives testified to the high esteem in which the deceased was held.

TURIN ... This community was shocked and saddened to learn, of the sudden death of Mrs. Homer D. Phillips, which occurred Monday afternoon, at Rome, where she and Mr. Phillips were spending the winter. Mrs. Phillips had been ill with an attack of the grip, which Thursday developed into pneumonia. Sunday her sister, Miss Anna. Cook, of this village, was called to her bedside. Everything possible was done to relieve her, but a change for the worse came Monday morning and she passed away at 3 o'clock. Clara Belle Cook was the daughter of Mrs. Catherine Cook and the late George Cook and was born near Turin, October 4, 1884. Nearly her entire life has been spent in this vicinity. June 23, 1913, she was united in marriage to Homer D. Phillips, of Rome, who survives. She is also survived by her mother. Mrs. Catherine Cook, and by three sisters. Mrs. E. G. Pellam, Mrs. Fred J. Clark and Miss Anna Cook, all of Turin. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Methodist church in Turin. She was a woman, of quiet, retiring disposition whose chief interest was in her home and the members of her family. Much sympathy is expressed for her husband and those of her family who are thus called to mourn her sudden and untamely death. Her remains were brought to Turin Tuesday and funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock nt the home of her mother, Mrs. Catherine Cook.

At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter Bowman, Sunday, December 20, occurred the death of Mrs. Cornelia Cook Freeman. Mrs. Freeman was a daughter of Bernard and Amanda De Boin Cook and was born in Turin, January 31, 1835. April 9 1857, she was united in marriage to William Freeman by the Rev. Isaac Hall. To this union was born three children, Annie, Mary, and Hattie who died in infancy. In early life she was a member of the Methodist church, but later became an Episcopalian, of which church she was amember at the time of her death. She was home-loving and very devoted, to her family. For several years she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Bowman, where she was very kindly cared for. She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. George Norton, of Watson, and Mrs. Walter Bowman, of this place; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; five brothers, George and Jerry Cook, of Turin; Mather Cook of Utica; Harrison Cook, of this town, Nelson Cook, of Housevllle; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Dickinson, of Turin, and a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bowman, Tuesday, December 22, at 2 o'clock, Rev. Charles M. Smith, of Turin, officiating; interment in Sand's cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Freeman Bowman, 77, died Monday evening at 8:30 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ingersoll, Turin. Mrs. Bowman has been in failing health the past several months and died of heart trouble and complications. She was born January 19, 1860, in the town of Turin, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Freeman. She spent her earlier years in this vicinity teaching school. She was married twice. Her first husband, Fred Lokay, died December 20, 1903. Her second husband, Walter Bowman with whom she made her home in Greig, died October 9, 1922. For the past six years she has lived in Turin. She was a member of the Turin Methodist Episcopal church Home Missionary Society and the Ladie’s Aid Society. She is survived by one stepdaughter Mrs. Matie Bowman, at Lowville; two nieces, Mrs. Eugene Ingersoll, Turin, and Mrs. Leroy Fashel, Watson, and one nephew, Herschel Norton, Watson, and a number of grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ingersoll, Turin. Rev. A. A. Lawrence, Natural Bridge, a former pastor of the Turin M. E. church, will officiate.

Lowvllle Oct. 10.--Walter M. Bowman, aged 68 years, died last night at his home in Greig after an Illness of six weeks of dropsy and heart trouble.
Mr. Bowman was born in the town of Montague in 1863. He was twice married, his first wife being Jennie Fawcett of Copenhagen. By the first marriage there was one daughter, now Mrs. Ray Simmons of Lowville. Seventeen years ago he married Mary Lokay of Houseville, who survives with Mrs. Simmons and one sister, Mrs. Ida Sackett of New Boston.
Mr. Bowman had been a resident of Greig for 17 years, being a farmer. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 from the Methodist Episcopal church in Greig, with burial at Old Martinsburg.

Turin, May 26.—Jeremiah Cook, 91, a Civil War veteran and well known resident of this town, died at the home of his grandson, Robert J. Cook, Thursday noon. Death was due to Infirmities of old age, which took an acute turn May 16. Mr. Cook was born in Turin, April 23, 1837, son of Barnard and Amanda DeBoyce Cook, and one of 13 children, but one now living. His wife, Amelia Harrington, died several years ago. Mr. Cook was a soldier during the Civil War for two years, participating in the Bolivar Heights battle, the siege of Washington and several other battles.
He is survived by two sons, George Cook, Turin, and Bert Cook, Carthage. There are also six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Harrison Cook, Turin.

Vernon Center, Dec. 21 — Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at the convenience of the family for Mather J. Cook, who died here yesterday. Mr. Cook was born in Houseville, Jefferson county, in 1842, a son of Barnard and Amanda Boyce Cook.
He went to Utica a in 1865 and married Alice B. Cashwell. He was a carpenter. He enlisted in Company E, second New York Heavy Artillery, in the civil war and was wounded during the battle of Cold Harbor, Virginia.
Surviving besides his widow are three daughters, Mrs. Hattie Rowlands of Utica; Mrs. W. J, Russell of Vernon Center, and Mrs. John H. Dancy of Schenectady; three brothers, Jeremiah, Harrison and Nelson Cook, all of Turin, Lewis county.

She spent most of her life in Utica and Lowville. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church.
Mrs. Cook is survived by two daughters. Mrs. John A. Dancy, Sehenectady. and Mrs. Russell, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Henry A. Cook, of Elm street, the young man who was employed by Darling & Wood and who was badly injured about the head by a cake of ice falling on him tbe other day, died from the effect of his injuries yesterday morning. He was 26 years old, a son of Mather Cook, of Peasant street, and most of his life had been sent at Lowville and Houseville. He came here from Houseville about three years ago and had been employed by Darling & Wood for some time. April 27, 1892 (?), he married M-s. M. P. Austey. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church and popular with all who knew him. His untimely death is a severe
blow to his young wife. He leaves also three sisters, one living at Hornellsville, and the others at Utica.

Turin, Nov. 6 - Harrison Cook, 87, a well known residient of this place died Tuesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. O. W. Hill, after a lingering illness.
The deceased was born in town of Turin, June 3, 1844, his parents being Barnard and Amelia Cook. In August 1861, he enlisted in the Union Army and served until the close of the Civil War, being one of five brothers in service. All returned home at the close of the war. In 1869, he married Miss Myra E. Carpenter of Houseville, and their entire married life was spent in this vicinity. Mr. Cook passed away 12 years ago. In 1919 they celebrated their golden wedding shortly before the death of Mrs. Cook.
The deceased was a member of the M. E. Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. O. W. Hill, and htree grandchildren, Mrs. Ralph Gleason and Miles and Royal Hill, all of Turin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at tyhe M. E. Church at Turin. Interment will be made in the family plot in the local cemetery.

Mrs. Harrison Cook passed away at her home here Tuesday, afternoon, October 28, after a long period of ill health. Five years ago she suffered a severe stroke of paralysis, leaving her almost helpless. Gradually by persistent and determined effort on her part, she partially recovered her strength and was able to go about with the aid of a cane. Since that time, she has suffered several more strokes, the last one just a week before she passed away. Harriet Emyra Carpenter was the daughter of Hiram and Louisa Davis Carpenter, and was born in the town of Turin, July 1, 1850. She was united in marriage to Harrison W. Cook, October 25, 1869, at Houseville. Thus the couple passed the 50th anniversary of their marriage juat three days before her death. Mr. Cook was a farmer and for over forty years they lived in the town of Greig. About five years ago they sold their farm and came to Turin, where they bought the home where they have since resided. Mrs. Cook had been a faithful member of the M. E. church for thirty years. Kind and considerate of others, she was ever ready to help her neighbors and friends in time of sickness and trouble. She is survived by her husband, Harrison Cook, and by one daughter, Mrs. Orin W. Hill, of this place. Another daughter, Harriet, died of scarlet fever at the age of seven years. She is also survived, by two half-sisters, Mrs. D. H. Phillips and Mrs. W. E. Benton, and by two half-brothers. J. Herbert Carpenter and Royal H. Carpenter, also by three grandchildren, Royal, Miles and Myra Hill. Funeral services were held from the M. B. church Friday afternoon, Rev. Evan Evans officiating. E. R. Piitchard, W. H. Ayres, Edwin B. Higby and Henry Hill sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Rock of Ages". The bearers were J. Herbert Carpenter, Royal Carpenter, David Phillips. Kent F. Dodge, B. F. Davis and Harry Phillips; interment in
Turin cemetery.

Turin ... Nelson J. Cook passed away early Monday morning at his home in this village. Mr. Cook had suffered serious heart trouble for several years and when members of the family went to his room to call him Monday morning it was found he had peacefully passed away without waking. Nelson J. Cook was the youngest son of the late Barnard and Amanda cook and was born in Turin December 14, 1847, the youngest of a family of thirteen children. Five of his brothers were in the Civil war and all lived to come back. November 18, 1873, Mr. Cook was united in marriage to Miss Emily Sliter, of Boylston, who survives. Mr. Cook was a farmer by occupation, and always lived in the town of Turin. He was a man of genial disposition, a kind husband and father and highly regarded in the community. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Willard J. Higby; two grandchildren, Mrs. H. E. Winslow and Maynard Higby, of Utica, and by two great granddaughters; also two brothers, Jeremiah and Harrison Cook, of Turin.
