The death of Mrs. Alvin D. Richardson occurred Wednesday afternoon, March 23rd, at her home near Pray Hill after an illness of over a year. Prior to this she had seemed in the midst of health and happiness, but was attacked by a complication of diseases and in spite of the efforts of the most skillful physicians and the most careful and tender nursing of loved ones, whose hearts have been torn by this great sorrow, she sweetly closed her eyes to the cares and sufferings of this life and entered into the glories of the life beyond. Melinda Smith Richardson was born in Shell's Bush, near Herkimer, the daughter of Melchert and Elizabeth Harter Smith, and on September 27, 1883, was united in marriage to Alvin D. Richardson of this place, where the remainder of her life has been spent and where she had a wide circle of friends. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Richfield Springs. She was a devoted wife and mother and cared most for her home life. The funeral was held at the home on Saturday at 2 o'clock, the Rev. David C. Davies officiating. Interment was made in the family plot in Lake View Cemetery. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides the sorrowing husband, one daughter, Mrs. Wilfred L. Pierce, and one son, Claude Morgan Richardson. Also one brother, Morgan Smith of Herkimer, and four sisters, Miss Louise M. Smith of Herkimer, Mrs. Walter A. Smith of Henderson and Mrs. E.
