A DOUBLE WEDDING
It Occurred at the horne of the Brides in Busti Wednesday.
A very large company of relatives and friends met at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Frank of Busti Wednesday evening to celebrate the marriage of their two daughters, the eldest, Anna A., being united to Willis T. Card of Panama, and the second, Fannie, to M. Vinton Howard of Busti. Rev. B, S. Borland of Busti was the officiating clergyman, and
the sight wss a novel one to most of those present. An elegant repast followed the ceremony. The presents were many and valuable. The happy couples will shortly begin housekeeping.

Sugar Grove, July 19.—The funeral service for Mrs. Alba Stevens Loomis were held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Martha Woodard, Wednesday Rev. W. E. Bassett of the Methodist Episcopal church fficiating.Mrs. B. P. Schut sang two selections, After and Just Beyond, with Mrs. Ida Dalrymple at the organ. Rev. Mr. Bassett read appropriate scriptur and chose as his text, Romans 1:10. He spoke of her untiring faith and trust in God. Mrs. Loomis was born in Busti, Sept. 25, 1845 and was married to Thomas Loomis, Sept. 12, 1862. She spent most of her life on the Loomis farm on Stilson Hill, until only a few years ago she moved to Sugar Grove. During her early life she united with the United Bretheren church on Stilwon Hill and upon moving to Sugar Grove, trahsfered her membeship to the Methodist church of that place. She is survived by seven children, Mrs. Frank Dalrymple, Mrs. Martha Woodard, Charles Loomis and Albert Loomis of Sugar Grove. Mrs. Anna Petrie of Jamestown and Alice Baccus of Spring Creek, and George Loomis of Pittsfield, Pa.; also a brother Walter SDtevens of Jamestown and two sisters, Mrs. Electa Canfield of Cleveland, O., and Mrs. Elizabeth Ayling of Rochester, N.Y. She had twenty six grandchildrenand thirteen great grandchildren.
The bearers were her sons, Albert, George and Charles and her sons in law, Frank Dalrymple, Clyde Baccus and William Petrie. Interment in Cherry Hill cemetery, Sugar Grove.

Friday morning this community was saddened by the news of the death of a former townsman, Nelson Stevens, at his home in Kendall, Thursday, January 16, of pneumonia. Mr. Stevens was a native of this town, where he had spent the greater part of his life, variously employed as farmer, schoolmaster and bookkeeper, and where in all his intercourse he has proven himself a reliable, obliging, efficient gentleman and a staunch and unquestioned friend, a man whose death is a genuine and irreparable loss. Funeral service were held at his late home Sunday afternoon, followed by burial at Palmyra Monday. He is survived by his wife, Emma Harter Stevens, four children, Mrs Edith Cress of Nyack; Mina, Fred and Marhlon of Kendall, and two sisters, Mrs. Andrew Miller and Martha Stevens of Columbia, all of whom have the sympathy of many friends,

- CARPENTER, HORACE M., was born in Herkimer, Herkimer County, N.Y., February 16, 1838. He was educated in the district schools, and came to this county in 1860. He is a general and dairy farmer. November 14, 1878, he married Eliza Rener, of this town, by whom he had two children: Florence and Harry. Mr. Carpenter's father, Samuel Carpenter, was born in Herkimer, in 1810. He was educated in the schools of the day, and was also a farmer. He married Caroline Stevens of that county, by whom he had three children: Horace M., as above, Stephen, and Almira. He died January 7, 1888, and his wife, April 7, 1892. His grandfather, Stephen Carpenter, was born in Rhode Island. He married, and in 1788 came to Herkimer county with an ox team, and drove two cows and some sheep. Mrs. Carpenter's father, Frederick Rener, was born in Switzerland July 6, 1830, and came to the United States when a young man, locating in this county. He married Susanna Bechthept, of this county, formerly of Germany, by whom he had ten children: Eliza, as above, Philip, Susie, George, Theresa, Louisa, Kate, Millie, who died in infancy, Frederick, and Charles. Mr. Carpenter's great-grandfather, Frederick Stevens, was killed in the battle of Oriskany. The ancestry of the family is English, Swiss and German. (p. 329)- Obituary (Find A Grave)
ONEIDA, Oct 2-- Horace M. Carpenter, aged 79 years, died last night at his home at Higginsville, after a short illness. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Clarence C. Williams of Utica; one son, Harry S. Carpenter of Higginsville, and one brother, Sylvester Carpenter of Nebraska. Funeral services will be held from his late home on Thursday at 2:30 o'clock,.
