Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Cring, of Harrisville, parents of Roy Cring, 22 who was killed late in September, while working at the plant of the Harrisville Paper Company, will each receive 25 per. cent of their son's weekly earnings for the remainder of their lives as a result of his death. This award was granted in death court held in Carthage last Thursday by Referee James P. Richardson, of Syracuse. Mr. Cring, who was unmarried, met death when he slipped and fell between rolls of a paper machine.
His father is 68, while his mother is 62. The rate of weekly compensation was not established. The carrier in the case was given the right to request a pay roll record showing Mr. Cring's for one year upon which the rate could be established.
At the hearing a representative of the Harrisville Paper Company submitted a report, which revealed that Mr. Cring's earnings averaged $31.40 a week. The report however, did not show his earnings for one year. The rate will probably be about $30 a week. In that case the parents would receive $7.50 each per week for the rest of their lives.

His arm and then his body was drawn between the rolls before attention of other employes was attracted to turn off the power.
Cring was taken from the machine and carried to the office, where he was pronounced dead. His parents were notified and the body was removed to an undertaking establishment and later to the home.
Surviving are his parents; two brothers, Rupert and Arthur Cring; and six sisters, Mrs. Blanche Valentine, Mrs. Bertha Russell, Mrs. Edna Bones, Miss Susan and Miss Mildred Cring, and Mrs. Leta Whipple.

A-GO-AS-YOU-PLEASE-DOG
Several months ago Depot Master Byron Kring of the New York Central railroad was the owner of a large New Foundland dog, which he took occasion to present to his wife's cousin, who is a resident-of Macedonia, N.Y. The animal was placed in a baggage car and transported to his new home. No sooner had had he been released from the train than he made one bound and disappeared in the distance at a lively trot. Nothing more was seen or heard of him until yesterday afternoon, when, on coming home to dinner, Mr. Kring found his old pet lying on the doorstep.. The dog jumped up on recognizing his master and manifested his delight in a manner that suggested his happiness in getting back to his old home. The distance from Macedonia to Buffalo is 87 miles. And yet this dog has never entered a six day go-as-you-please pedestrian contest.- Death Announcement (Buffalo Evening News, Tuesday, November 2, 1920)
