Johannes Saltsman

 - Newspaper Article (Enterprise and News, Saint Johnsville, NY, Wednesday, August 16, 1933)
  SALTSMAN
  ...
In looking through Col. Jacob Klock's regiment we found Henry [Saltsman], Henry  Jr., George and John, no doubt t h e father and three sons, for family tradition tells us that the twins Geo. and Henry, Jr. went to war and never returned. They probably fill some lonely place on a battle field. It seems they started life and closed it together.
John was engaged in and wounded at the battle of Orlskany. His son Peter I. Saltsman served in the war of 1812.
We have been told that there has been a Saltsman or Saltsman descendant in every war America has ever engaged in. And to bring it right up to date we still have a Saltsman in the army, Burdete Saltsman, son of Myron is at present at Sacketts Harbor. We may justly feel proud of the loyalty our family has shown
We hope that some time we will be able to trace these daughters and son Peter, but at present I have found nothing. The one son we do know about is John who married Elizabeth Getman. For those interested let me state that this Elizabeth is a daugher of Capt. Christian Getman and his wife Anna Eve Tlmmerman Markle Getman who was scalped by the Indians.
John and Elizabeth Getman Saltsman had four children:
Peter I., Martha, Daniel and Fanny. Of Marta I have learned nothing, but today we see here many descendants of Peter I, We hope some of Daniel and Fanny. With a bit of good fortune perhaps Martha too is represented.
...
(Getman records indicate that the Elizabeth Getman listed was a daughter of Frederick Getman and Anne Eve Frank. Christian's daughter Ann Elizabeth died as a youth, and was an entirely different generation.)
