In the passing of Chauncey Caple.whose death ocourred at his home on Thursday evening, Feb. 24, 1916, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Frankfort has gone to his reward. For many long months the deceased has been in ill health and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Caple was born in in Columbia, this county and would have been 83 years of age had he lived until March 10. When a young man he married Ann Carver at Stafford, Onondaga County. For a time they lived in Tully, going from there to Richfield Springs. More than 50 years ago they came to Frankfort, where they have since resided. Mrs. Caple died about 10 years ago. Mr. Caple learned both the machinist and carpenter trades and was an expert in both vocations. For many years he worked in the Gates match factory. After that factory's removal to Oswego about 22 years ago, Mr. Caple opened a shop on his own premises on Litchfield street, where he did all kinds of general repair work, at which he was very skillful. For the last four years the infirmities of age coupled with a weak heart, have made him almost helpless. He was the last of his lamily, a younger brother and sister having both passed away within a few years. He is survived by three daughters, Miss Viola Caple, Mrs. Charles Birch and Mrs. Kester Appley and by three grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the home on Litchfield street at 2 p. m . Sunday. Rev. W. M. Caldwell will officiate.

  N. VIOLA CAPLE.
Member of First Graduating Class of Union School and Good Teacher.
The death of N. Viola Caple, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chuancey S. Caple, ocurred at her home on Litchfield street at 4:30 Friday, May 5th, following an illness of four months. The deceased was born in Frankfort, Feb. 8, 1864, and had always resided here with her parents, for whom she faithfully cared in their declining years. She was a graduate of the Franfort schools, being a member of the first graduating class of the Frankfort Union School, and later attended the Cortland Normal until called home by her mother's illness. For many years she taught in the schools of this village and the adjoining districts, and was regarded as an exceptionally fine teacher, beloved by her pupils and highly regarded by their parents. She became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in her girlhood and lived a beautiful Christian life, filled with unselfish service for others. Of a very reserved, and Quiet nature her many splendid qualities were unknown except to those whose privilege it was to know her. In the last year disease had fastened upon her and in January she was obliged to give up her school, work. In February she submitted to an operation at the Ilion Hospital which afforded temporary relief, and hopes were entertained of her ultimate recovery, but for a number of weeks she had been growing steadily weaker, the end coming peacefully as she slept. She suffered much during her illness, and received the constant and loving care of her sisters, Mrs. Charles E. Birch and Mrs. Kester Appley, who are the only survivors, her father passing away about two months ago.
The funeral was largely attended from the home of her sister, Mrs. Charles Birch, Monday afternoon. The Rev. C. E. Miller officiated, speaking most comforting words from the text "And God shall wipe away all tears; there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former; things have passed away. " The floral tributes were beautiful and was a profusion of individual offerings. The bearers were the two brothers-in-law, Charles Birch and Kester Appley and two cousins, Edward Caple from Mohawk and Harry Doyle from Cortland. Interment was made in Oak View Cemetery.
