  VAUGHNSVILLE — Joseph C. Schwartz, 75, died at 4:30 a.m. April 8, 2008, at his residence.
  He was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Spencerville to Chester and Addie Simpson Schwartz who preceded him in death. On June 25, 1982, he married Beverly Jane Pitney, who survives.
  Mr. Schwartz owned and operated Quality Buffing and the Broadway Inn. both in Spencerville. and retired as a truck driver from Northwest Truck Leasing, after 15 years. He was a member of Vaughnsville United Methodist Church. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, Spencdrville. He was a member of the Western Ohio Fish & Game Club and of the Long Lake Fishermen’s Association, Colon, Mich. He had attended Spencerville-Jennings School. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing hunting playing cards and horseshoe games.
  Survivors also include four sons Marvin Schwartz of St. Marys, Michael (Margaret) Schwartz of Spencerville, David (Jill) Utrup of Brookville, and Edward (Sherry) Wilson of Fremont; a daughter Patricia (Ben Huddelston) Hensley, of St. Marys; three brothers, Bernard (Mary) Schwartz of Chipley, Fla., Gerald Schwartz of Debeque, Colo., and Raymond (Jean) Schwartz of Wapakoneta; a sister Linda (Vernon) Bruse of Debeque, Colo.; a special nephew and nice Russell Pitney and Lori (Bob) Brubaker; 16 grandchildren, Michael, Anita Jo, Brittany, Brian, Alyssa, Tiffany, Dawn, David, Michael, Jarrod, Jason, Samantha, Sage, Brandon, Parker and Hayley; two great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law Doug Pitney; and two sisters-in-law Lila (Don) Deerhake, and Carol Pitney.
  Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home Columbus Grove. Pastor Don Hague will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Ottawa River Cemetery, Rimer with military rites.
  Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice or Vaughnsville Unitea Mehodist Church.

  Shirley A. Schwartz Meister, 84, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully at 5:35 AM Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Otterbein-St. Marys.
  She was born May 16, 1934, in Lima, to the late Frederick and Amelia Leona Zimmerman Frysinger.
  On September 7, 1952, she married Joseph "Joe" Schwartz, who is deceased. On June 27, 1981, she married Harold Meister, who is deceased.
  Shirley is survived by her three children; Marvin Schwartz of St. Marys; Michael (Margaret ) Schwartz of Delphos and Patricia (Paul Mack) Hensley of Mendon; her six grandchildren; Michael (Latisha Liming) Schwartz; Anita (Brandon) Schaffer; Brittany Schwartz; Brian (Ashley Harner) Hensley and Tiffany Schwartz and her six great-grandchildren and her German Shepherd "Neely".
  She was preceded in death by five brothers; Harold and Robert Mohler, Donald, Georgie Gene, Marvin and Dean Frysinger and her granddaughter Dawn Schwartz and daughter-in-law Pamela Schwartz.
  She enjoyed spending time with her family and always made sure every holiday was celebrated. She especially loved gardening and her flowers and was always busy around her home.
  She had attended Buckland School and had worked as a Bartender and waitress at Ernies Tavern and The Chalet in Wapakoneta and also had worked in the Deli Dept. at Chief's in St. Marys.
  Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Rev. Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckland Cemetery.

  Beverly Jane Schwartz, 74, died at 11:05 a.m. March 10, 2013, at Parkview Continuing Care, Fremont.
  She was born June 25, 1938, in Vaughnsville to Howard R. and Marguerite M. Dunlap Pitney, who preceded her in death. She married Ed Wilson, who preceded her in death. She then married Joseph Schwartz, who preceded her in death.
  Mrs. Schwartz worked for Dr. Will Moody's Medical Practice, formerly of Vaughnsville, after which she went to work at St. Rita's Medical Center for more than 30 years, from which she retired. She was a member of the Vaughnsville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed very much spending her summers on Long Lake in Michigan. Her nephews and nieces were always special to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
   Survivors include two sons, David Utrup, of Vaughnsville, and Edward (Sherry) Wilson, of Fremont; two stepsons, Michael (Margaret) Schwartz, of Delphos, and Marvin Schwartz, of St. Marys; a stepdaughter, Patricia Hensley, of Spencerville; a brother, Douglas "Doug" Pitney of Vaughnsville; three sisters-in-law, Lila Deerhake, of Columbus Grove, Carol Pitney, of Columbus Grove, and Linda Bruce, of Colorado; a special aunt and friend, Creatora Beam, of Tennessee; and nine grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jimmie L., Robert S., Gary Dean and Danny Ray "Butch" Pitney.
  Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Tom Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Ottawa River Cemetery, Rimer.

  Sandra L. Seaman, 83, of Grand Junction, CO, formerly of Wapakoneta, died November 7, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand Junction, CO. She was born March 4, 1937, in Lima, OH, the daughter of Carl C. and Helen J. (Spornhauer) Seaman, who preceded her in death.
  Survivors include children, Randy Schwartyz, De Beque, CO; Clifton Schwartz, De Beque, CO; Cheryl Miller, De Beque, CO; Pamela Beach, Grand Junction, CO; Carol Sue Schwartz, De Beque, CO, and Alicia Schwartz, Grand Junction, CO; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; half brother, Michael P. (Judy) Emehiser, Lima, and half sister, Laura Emehiser, McConnellsburg, PA.
   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Carl J. Seaman.
  Sandra worked as a security guard at Occidental Petroleum Co., De Beque, CO. Prior, she had worked at Wapakoneta Manor. She enjoyed reading, watching baseball and football, playing bingo, and caring for her cat and dog. Sandra also enjoyed playing card games with her children, and hearing about other people’s trips and adventures.
  A memorial service is planned at a later date. Burial is to be in the Fairmount Cemetery, near Uniopolis, OH.

 Sybil Jean Schwartz,71, died at 5:30 a.m. Sept. 17, 2009, at her residence.
  She was born April 2, 1938, in’ Williamsport, Ky. to Herbert and Jettie Marie Burchett Pack, who preceded her in death. On June 10, 1960, she married Raymond M Schwartz who survives in Wapakoneta.
  Mrs Schwartz was a homemaker. She was a member of Cridersville Independent Baptist Church, Cridersville. She was a 1957 graduate of Meade Memorial School, Williamsport, Ky. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and traveling.
  Survivors also include a son Terrence R. “Terry” (Pam) Schwartz, of Wapakoneta; a daughter Theresa D. Miller, of Wapakoneta; four grandchildren, Dawn M. Miller, Ethan M. Miller, Alexis N. Schwartz and Morgan E. Schwartz; three step-grandchildren, Ryan A. Miller, Jeff A. Miller and Renae H. Seffemick; six siblings, Clarence (Ann) Pack, of Boonscamp, Ky., Mary (Bernard) Schwartz, of Chipley, Fla. Sarah (Seldon) DeLong, of VanLear, Ky., Don Pack, of Ohio, Janet Sue (Alvin) Morris, of Marianna, Fla., and Edna Pack Walters, of Williamsport, Ky.; and two sisters-in-law, Allene Pack, of Vaughnsville, Joyce Pack, of Wilhamsport, Ky.
  She was preceded in death by three siblings, Herbert Jr., Hobert and Virgie Mae Pack.
  Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Cridersville Independent Baptist Church, Cridersville Pastor Ed. Wireman will officiate. Burial will be in Vaughnsville Cemetery, Vaughnsville.

  The young couple went on a honeymoon trip to the Smokey mountains. They will make their home at Route 6 Wapakoneta.

  Robert, 71, 3601 St. Rt. 703, Celina, died at 1:07 p.m., at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
  He was a son to Chester H. and Addie M. (Simpson) Schwartz. On Jan 18, 1964, he married Carla Sue Wagner, who survives.
  Also surviving are two sons, Richard (Jonadel), St. Henry, and Brian (Beverly), Mendon; three brothers, Raymond, Wapakoneta, Gerald, Debeck, CO, and Bernard (Mary), Chipley; a sister, Linda (Vernon) Bruce, Debeck; and three grandchildren.
  Deceased are a brother, Joe; and a grandson.
  He was a retired truck driver and served in the Ohio National Guard.
  Funeral services will be Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, with Rev. Robert Ellis, officiating.

  Wilbur N. "Bill" Squires, age 68, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away suddenly on Oct. 19, 2004.
  He was born on Aug. 29, 1936 in Detroit to the late Wilbur E. and Pauline R. Squires.
  Bill graduated from Marysville High School in 1955, lived and worked in the area until moving to the Phoenix area in 1972.
  He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Bessie L (Garlick) Squires; daughter, Betsy (Roger) Pickerill; sons, Mark (Marcy) Squires, Scott (Karman) Squires, Todd (Heather) Squires, all of the Phoenix area; three sisters, Judy (Don) Steele of Marysville, Bonnie (Roger) Craig of Yale and Patricia (William) Bevan of the United Kingdom; 11 dear grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
  Memorial services were held at the Lundberg Mortuary White Rose Chapel, Glendale, AZ.


Marriage Notes for Wilbur Norman Squires and Bessie Lorena Garlick

  In a Jan. 23 ceremony performed at the Free Methodist church, Marysville, Miss Bessie L. Garlick, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Jesse Garlick of Ravenswood road, became the bride of Wilbur N. Squires, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur E. Squires of St. Clair.
  The bride was given in marriage by her father, who escorted her to an altar decorated by bouquets of white gladioli, white pompons and baby blue tinted mums. Rev. Koerner, pastor of Flint Free Methodist church, performed the marriage rites.
   A white gown of Chantilly lace over taffeta was worn by bride. It was styled with a floor-length front and a trailing chapel train. Featured was a fitted bodice of matching lace, a scoop neckline and long tapered sleeves. The only jewelry worn by the bride was a gold chain. Her bouquet was a cascade of white roses and feathered carnations.
   Mrs. Erwin Balhoff, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She was attired in a ballerina-length gown of peacock blue with a full skirt of nylon organdy and bodice of matching satin.
  Bridesmaids were Miss Betty Garlick, sister of the bride, and Miss Judy Squires, sister of thr bridegroom. they wore gowns identical to the matron of honor's and carried colonial bouquets of yellow roses, yellow carnations and yellow pompons.
  Serving as best man was Ervin Balhoff, brother-in-law of the bride. Ushers were Clayton Smith, brother of the bridegroom, and Edward Finn, Port Huron.
   The bride's mother wore a navy blue gown with accessories of the same color. Her bouquet was red roses with feathered carnations and stephanotis.
  A navy blue crepe sheath with white accessories was worn the bridegroom's mother. She also carried a bouquet of red roses, feather carnations and stephanotis.
  Following the ceremony, a reception for 200 guests was held the church parlors. The new Mrs. Squires chose white wool sheath dress for wedding trip to Niagara Falls. She wore a white orchid corsage. The couple will make their home at 5299 Gratiot road, St. Clair, upon returning from' their honey moon.

  Sharon Lee Hamilton, age 76, of Mendon, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
  Born June 7, 1945, in Celina, Sharon was a daughter of the late Loyd Russel & Dora Katherine (Krick) Simpson.
  Sharon and Jim Hamilton were married on May 23, 1964, and he survives along with their two daughters: Kristina (Jake) Boroff and Kelly (Niel) Loll, all of Mendon. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Nathan, Evan, Avery and Meagan Boroff and Bella, Sophie and Ceci Loll.
  Sharon is survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Danny Trisel of Van Wert, Dan Hamilton, Bill (Barb) Hamilton and Ken Hamilton, all of Mendon, Suzanne Sharpe of Spencerville, and Esther Hamilton and Kathy Hamilton of Coldwater.
  She was preceded in death by her sister, Vickie L. Trisel, parents-in-law: John and Nellie (Hunsaker) Hamilton, and brothers-in-law: Gary Hamilton and Donnie Hamilton.
  Sharon graduated as Salutatorian of the 1963 Class of Mendon-Union High School. She worked as a cook at Mendon-Union Schools and later Parkway Schools, for a total of 26 years.
  A woman of faith, Sharon was a loving mother, devoted to her family and the Lord. She made certain her children and grandchildren knew Jesus. Sharon was an active member of the Mendon First Church of God, where she served on the church council and taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was also very involved in the outreach ministries of the church.
  Community activities Sharon participated in were MURA (The Mendon-Union Recreation Association) and local variety shows. Working outdoors with her many flowers was one of Sharon's favorite activities. She also enjoyed making jewelry and trying new recipes. She loved her pets and all animals, and was known to take in and help injured animals.
  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 23, at the Mendon First Church of God, with her son-in-law, Pastor Jake Boroff, officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
  Calling Hours are 2:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 22, and from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 23, at Mendon First Church of God.

  Vickie L.Trisel, 69, of Van Wert, passed away at 6:16 a.m., Thursday after an eight-month battle with colon cancer.
  She was born on February 11, 1950, in Celina, the daughter of the late Loyd and Dora (Krick) Simpson. On November 12, 1966, she married Danny L. Trisel who survives.
  Other survivors include her children, Tracy (Stephanie) Trisel of Van Wert and Teresa DuCheney of Middle Point; a sister, Sharon (Jim) Hamilton of Mendon; five grandchildren, Dirk DuCheney, Danyelle (Austin) Eutsler, Drew (Bailey Ripke) DuCheney, Spencer (Bailey Stegaman) Trisel, and Davis Schwartz; three great-grandchildren, Tatum and Tyce DuCheney, Novaleigh Eutsler, and a great-grandson due in May.
  Vickie was a 1968 graduate of Mendon-Union High School and a member of the Mendon First Church of God. She had worked at the Times-Bulletin for 25 years and at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Van Wert for five years. Vickie was a great fan of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She enjoyed caring for her flowers and sewing.
  There will be private services at the convenience of the family
