  Miss Tina Marie Jordan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Jordan of Lyons Falls, was married to Timothy Roger Paczkowski. son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Paezkowski of Turin, on September 18 at St. Mary’s Church, Constableville. The Rev. Father Romuald Wolski officiated.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of ivory satin with bishop's sleeves. She carried a colonial bouquet of bronze mums and wood roses. Mrs. Jane Poste of South Colton, sister of the birde, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Rebecca Lynn Jordon and Miss Tracy L. Jordan, sisters of the bride. The attendants wore mint green dresses with forest green and rust jackets and green picture hats. They carried colonial bouquets of rust and green tinted carnations.
  The best man was Michael Paczkowski, brother of the groom. Ushers were David Freeman and David Weidrick, friends of the groom. They wore dark green tuxedos with mint green shirts and light green carnations.
  The reception was held at Timber Lodge, Glenfield, with music by Patchwork. The newlyweds left on a trip to Niagara Falls. For going away the bride wore a maroon, beige and black pant suit with matching accessories.
  Mr. Paczkowski is a 1971 graduate of South Lewis Central School and is employed by General Telephone Co. of Boonville. Mrs. Paczkowski is a 1973 graduate of South Lewis Central School and is employed at Kraft Foods, Lowville, as an office clerk. The couple now
reside at Laura Street. Lyons Falls.
  Prenuptial showers were given by the brides sisters and also Mrs. Deb Mazur and Miss Joyce Kraeger.

  CASTORLAND – Daniel M. “Elsie” Powlin, 66, of Karcher Estates, died Saturday evening, September 26, 2020, at Lewis County General Hospital.
  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Martinsburg Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to the Lewis County General Hospital for the Palliative Care Room, 7785 N. State St., Lowville, NY 13367. Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
  Mr. Powlin is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas A. and Mary Lou of Watertown; Michael G. and Donna of Brantingham; David W. of Orange Park, FL; a sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Thomas Sweet of Lowville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his good friend Rick Farrell at Karcher Estates, who helped him stay in his home. He is predeceased by his parents.
  Daniel was born on October 26, 1953 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Alexander O. and Yvonne Blade Powlin. He graduated from Lowville Academy. A marriage to Kathy Platt ended in divorce. Daniel worked as a mechanic for area businesses for several years.
  He enjoyed having a good time with his friends, and his cat, Yowser.

  Greig, NY - Shirley Blade Higby. Greig Road, passed away on
Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility where she resided since December 20, 2018.
  Born December 3, 1926, a daughter of Gifford and Arlene Blade, she is survived by her daughter Judy (Phillip) DeLong and Lyndon (Mary Ann Gaebel) Higby, and daughter-in-Law, Linda (Gaebel) Higby, wife of Burton B. Higby, eight grandchildren and many many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
  She is predeceased by her husband Dean Alfred Higby, Feb 21, 2009, a son Burton B. Higby August 15, 2006, her mother and father Arlene and Gifford Blade, and sisters Yvonne Powlin and Phyllis Garnsey.
  Born December 3, 1926, she attended Lowville and Carthage schools, graduating from Carthage High School in June, 1944.
  On June 30, 1944, Shirley married Dean Alfred Higby near Pine Camp (now Fort Drum).
  In 1952 Shirley and Dean purchased the Jordan potato farm on the Greig Road, where they raised their family and Shirley lived there for over 67 years before residing in the Lewis County Extended Care Facility.
  Both Shirley and Dean were Bus Drivers for Glenfield and the South Lewis Schools System for many, many years. Prior to bus driving, Shirley worked at Beaverite in Glenfield. She was also Tax Collector for the Town of Greig for many years. She was an avid bowler in her younger years.
  Dean and Shirley purchased a camp on Stony Lake in 1964, enjoying their camp for 45 years. Stony Lake was the connection to the Gaebel Family who also had a camp on the lake, with the Gaebel/Thesier clan. Sterling and Margaret Rose (Thesier) Gaebel became mother and father-in-laws to Lyndon and Burt, who married the Gaebel girls, through the “Lake Connection”.
  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Glenfield Fire Dept, and the Glendale Cemetery Fund.
  Calling hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Iseneker Funeral Home, 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, NY 13367 with the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the funeral home with Reverend James Jenkins officiating, followed by burial in Old Glendale Cemetery. After services, a gathering will follow at the Calvary Bilble Church fellowship hall.

  Dean A. Higby, 86, of Greig Road, died Saturday February 21, 2009 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville.
  Mr. Higby was a bus driver for 41 years for General Martin School and South Lewis Central School, where he also was a custodian at Greig School. With the closing of Greig School, he became the custodian at General Martin School, retiring in 1985.
  Born Feb. 6, 1923, at home in Glenfield, son of Alfred and Louise Rennie Higby, he attended Glenfield and General Martin schools.
  He married Shirley Blade on June 30, 1944, at the home of the Rev. William J. Dobbie, Martinsburg.
  He enjoyed fishing with his family, hunting, raising cows, heifers and horses and camping at Stony Lake.
  Surviving besides his wife are a son and his wife, Lyndon and Maryann, Leesburg, Fla.; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Philip DeLong, Glenfield and Port Orange, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Linda G. Higby, Mexico; a sister, Althea Patterson, Smethport, Pa., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  A son, Burton B. Higby, died Aug. 15, 2006. Two brothers, Dayton and Dorrance, also died before him.
  The funeral will be at the family's convenience at Iseneker Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce W. Chapman, retired minister, officiating.
  Spring burial will be in Old Glendale Cemetery.

  LYONS FALLS — Heleva affectionately known as "Bea" Bartelotte, 88, a long time resident of Franklin St., passed away Saturday May 12, 2012, at Lewis Co. General Hospital, Lowville, after a short illness.
  She was born in McKeever, on March 25, 1924, a daughter of Charles and Lamoine Hyers Fuller. She attended school at Gouldtown, later completing her education at Port Leyden Central School. On October 28, 1942, she married John Bartelotte of Thendara, NY. After their marriage they lived in Gouldtown, where they raised their family. Later the couple was divorced and Bea moved to her present home in Lyons Falls.
  She loved poetry, and was an accomplished writer of poems and for many years she published her poems in the Boonville Herald. Over the years she had received 25 Gold Poet awards and 43 Merit Poetry awards. Bea also wrote the lyrics for the song "His Holy Hands," which was played in every country around the world by the International Music Program.
  Bea attended Lyons Falls Bible Fellowship Church. She greatly enjoyed crafts.
  Bea was a loving mother and grandmother, with a giving heart, whether providing little gifts for birthdays, sitting with an elderly person, or providing for her family.
  She is survived by her children: Maurice J. (Mary) Bartelotte, Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeanne M. (Willie) McDougall, Gouldtown, Richard L. (Angela) Bartelotte, Port Leyden, John M. (Trisha) Bartelotte, Santa Maria, CA; seven grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Teresa, Keith, Noelle, Timothy and Brooks, six great grandchildren, one brother, Richard (Cecelia) Fuller, Lowville. A brother, Charles died as an infant.
  Her Funeral will be Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Jeffrey Ford, pastor of Lyons Falls Bible Fellowship Church will officiate. Interment will be in Wild Wood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. Visitation hours are Sunday (Today) 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lyons Falls Bible Fellowship Church.

  Miss Jeanne Bartelotte became the bride of William McDougall Saturday, Aug. 17, at 11 am in the First Congregational Church, Port Leyden.
  Performing the double ring ceremony was the Rev. Robert Penrod. Mrs. David Marmon was organist.
  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bartelotte, Lyons Falls. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Anna McDougall, Port Leyden, and the late Raymond McDougall.
  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an Empire gown of taffeta with two rows of lace in the front, and pearls and sequins trimming the high neckline and long sleeves. Her train was attachable.
  A pearl headpiece held her veil and she carried a cascade of white carnations and baby's breath.
   Mrs. Joyce McDougall, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Wayne McDougall, Oneida, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Francis Capron, Verona, and Mrs. Betty Parrish, Port Leyden, sisters of the bridegroom. Patricia McDougall, Lyons Falls, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl.
  Serving as best man was Maurice Bartelotte, brother of the bride. Ushering were Wayne McDougall, Oneida, brother of the bridegroom; Allen Houck, Boonville, and Douglas Janes, Port Leyden. The bride's brother, John Bartelotte, was ring bearer.
  Mr. McDougall is employed by S. Delia Corp., Boonville.

  LOWVILLE, NY ~ Richard C. Fuller, 93, formerly of Number Four Rd., Lowville, died peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville, where he had resided since this past April.
  Born in Lyonsdale, NY on January 30, 1926, the son of Charles W. and Lamoine (Hyers) Fuller, he received his early education at Gouldtown Country School, his secondary education at Port Leyden High School and received his GED from Lowville Academy.
He married Cecelia J. Markum on April 30, 1944 at St. Martin’s Rectory in Port Leyden. Mrs. Fuller died on September 30th of this year.
  A World War II veteran, Mr. Fuller entered the US Navy on March 23, 1944 and served as a Motor Machinist’s Mate 2nd class and served until being honorably discharged on February 3, 1946.
  Richard began his working career at the Gould Paper Company in Lyons Falls including the upper A&B Mill before WWII, the big mill after the war, and eventually as a supervisor in their hardwood plant, known as the Hepburn Mill.
  Following his many years working at Gould, he and his wife purchased and operated Bieche’s Hotel in Petries Corners and later renamed it Dick and Cel’s Grill which they continued to run for many years. Dick and his wife later worked as stewards of The Rap-Shaw Club at Stillwater Reservoir for ten years before retiring.
  Richard was a communicant of and former “greeter” at St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan, and was a life member of the Beaver River Memorial Post 1663 American Legion in Croghan, the Lowville VFW, and the NRA.
  Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, and in particular, going on fishing trips with his wife to Canada. He was also a well-known trapper during his life.
  He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Julie Fuller, of Lowville, and Bruce E. and Nora Fuller, of Marysville, Washington; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, and two daughters-in-law, Nancy Fuller, of Pennellville, NY and Sharon Fuller, of Castorland.
  In addition to his loving wife, Cecelia, of 75 years, he was predeceased by three sons, Charles J. Fuller who died in 2013, Terry J. Fuller, who died in 2010, and Thomas M. Fuller, who died in 1984, and his sister, Heleva Bartelotte.
  Dick’s funeral services will be held on Friday, October 25, beginning with a 9:45 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred, Pastor, officiating.
  Interment with military honors will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, October 24th, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

  LOWVILLE, NY ~ Cecelia J. Fuller, 93, of Number Four Rd., Lowville, NY, died peacefully in the presence of her family on Monday, September 30, 2019, at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville, where she had resided since this past April.
  Born November 22, 1925 in Highmarket, in the Town of Leyden, NY, a daughter of John J. and Anna (Kersnausky) Markunas (also known by last name of Markum), and was graduated from Lyons Falls High School.
  She married Richard C. Fuller on April 30, 1944 in St. Martin’s Rectory in Port Leyden, and together, raised their family of five children.
  In addition to being a mother and homemaker, she and her husband owned and operated Bieche’s Hotel in Petries Corner which later they renamed Dick and Cel’s Grill for many years, and later, she worked with her husband as stewards of The Rap-Shaw Club at Stillwater Reservoir for ten years before retiring.
  Cecelia was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan, and was a member of the Beaver River Memorial Post 1663 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
  Throughout her life, she enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping, particularly in the Southern Tier, and fishing trips to Canada. Cecelia was also an incredibly great cook and will be especially remembered for putting on game feeds at their hotel.
  In addition to her loving husband, Richard “Dick” of 75 years, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Julie Fuller, of Lowville, and Bruce E. and Nora Fuller, of Marysville, Washington; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; and her sister, Anna Kofman, of Poughkeepsie, NY, and two daughters-in-law, Nancy Fuller, of Pennellville, NY and Sharon Fuller, of Castorland.
  She was predeceased by three sons, Charles J. Fuller who died in 2013, Terry J. Fuller, who died in 2010, and Thomas E. Fuller, who died in 1984, and eight brothers, Charles, Joseph, Leo, Anthony, Stanley, John, Edward and Francis Markum.
  Cecelia’s funeral services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019, beginning with a 9:45 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred, Pastor, officiating.

Joan was a native of Gouldtown, NY, and resided in Pitcher Hill on Wilbert Drive for 58 years. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Minnie Bartlett. Joan worked as a secretary at Donahue Dodge in the 1970s and was a member of the Salina Civic Seniors. She enjoyed her duties as a loving wife and mother. Joan was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale.
  Joan is survived by her husband of 60 years, Louis Emore; two daughters, Lou Ann (Kenneth) Hurlbert of Truxton and Sharon Miller of Mattydale; a son, David (Michelle) Emore of Cicero; a sister, Barbara Scouten of Port Leyden, NY; a brother, Robert Bartlett of Leland, NC; her seven grandchildren, Adam, Adrienne, David, Ashley, Eric, Daniee and Taylor; and a great-grandson, Dominic.   Louis H. Emore, 86, of North Syracuse, died Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital. A native of Syracuse, Louis grew up on the Northside where he graduated from St. John the Baptist School. He resided in the Pitcher Hill area for over 60 years and was the son of the late Vetal L. and Edna M. (Burkey) Emore. Louis was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War in the Military Intelligence. He retired in 1986 after over 37 years as a cutter grinder at New Process Gear in East Syracuse. Louis was the Past Commander in 1969-70 of the Mattydale VFW Post #3146 and past member of the American Legion Post #1832 in Mattydale. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing and was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church.
  He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Joan, in 2012. Louis is survived by two daughters: Lou Ann (Kenneth) Hurlbert of Truxton, and Sharon Miller of Mattydale; his son: David (Michelle) Emore of Cicero; seven grandchildren: Adam, Adrienne, David, Ashley, Eric, Daniee, and Taylor; four great grandchildren: Dominic, Elaina, Savannah, and Gianna.

  Arthur D. Scouten, 64, passed away of an apparent heart attack Jan 6, 2000, in the Town of Boonville. He was born in Port Leyden Sept 20, 1935, son of Percy B., and Grace E. Webster Scouten. He graduated from Port Leyden High Class of 1953. For a short time after that he was employed at Savage Arms Co. of Utica. On Feb 7, 1953,
  Mr. Scouten was married with Barbara A. Bartelotte. Jan 1954, he began his employment of 43 yrs at the Gould Paper Co. During this time he was employed in different sections of the mill, and then was employed for several years in the Control Dept. of the paper mill, retiring from Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper Co. in 1997. He took great pride in his community, and in doing so he served as the Mayor of Port Leyden in the 1970's, and again in the early 1990's and at the present time he was a member of the Board of Trustees for the Village of Port Leyden. Mr. Scouten attended the United Methodist Church, He is a retired member of the Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper Local 560, Paper Makers Union, and was a past president of this union. He was instrumental in the founding of the present retirement benefit program and pension system for the paper mill retirees. He was a member of Elks Club #2158, a Past President and member of the So Lewis Housing Dev Corp of Port Leyden, Masonic Lodge, F & A.M., member of the Dewey Chapter O.E.S. He was a Past Patron, and Past District Deputy Lecturer of the Lewis Oneida District. He greatly enjoyed hunting, was a member of the Silver Creek Hunting Club, Moose River Fish and Game Club, and a past member of the Miller Brook Fish and Game Club. He also enjoyed golf, and was a member of the Brantingham Golf Club. For several years he was the Sexton of the Port Leyden Cemetery Assoc. His greatest pride and enjoyment in his life was his wife, Barbara, and his children, and more recently going to school events to watch his grandchildren play in sports. He had also made several hunting trips to the western United States and Canada. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, one daughter, Lyn ; one son, Alan, six granddaughters, and one grandson, one brother, Earl ; three sisters, Ann, Joni and Jean. Relatives and friends attended a service in his memory Rev. Mudge, Pastor, officiated. A spring interment will be in the Port Leyden Cemetery.

  Arthur and Barbara Bartlett Scouten of Port Leyden celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at a dinner given by their children.
  They were married February 7, 1953, at the Forest Presbyterian Church Manse, Lyons Falls, by Rev. John H. Hatt
  Arthur is a control technician at Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper and is mayor of the Village of Port Leyden. Barbara is retired from the Port Leyden Branch of the former St. Lawrence National Bank and now volunteers her time in surrounding communities.
  The Scoutens have two children, Mrs. Lyn Cyr and Alan Scouten, both of Port Leyden. The Scoutens have seven grandchildren.

  The bride wore a light blue suit with navy accessories and a corsage of pink and white carnations. Here matron of honor was Mrs. Max Evans and she wore a grey dress with dark blue accessories, and a corsage of white carnations centered with a red rose. Max Evans was best man.
  The bride is a graduate of Port Leyden Central School, class '48 and is employed as private secretary at St. Regis Paper Co., Defereit. The bridegroom was graduated from Beaver River High School in 1951 and is employed in the First National Bank, Croghan.
  Following the ceremony, the couple left on a wedding trip through the New England States

  Bertha Stewart Marmon, 54, North Babylon, L.I., native of Lyons Falls and wife of Robert Marmon, Sr., died December 20 at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer.
  The funeral was December 22 at Our Lady of Grace Church, West Babylon. Burial was in Pinelawn Cemetery, Pinelawn. Arrangements were with Claude R. Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., Babylon. LI.
  Surviving besides her husband are a son. Robert. Jr., Lyons Falls; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Carolynne) O’Neil and Lorraine Marmon. both of Antioch, Tenn., and Ann Marie Marmon, at home; her mother. Mrs. Matilda Enter, Lyons Falls; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Sturtz. Watertown, and Mrs. William (Shirley) Knapp, Binghamton, and several nieces and nephews.
  Born at Lyons Falls on May 8, 1934, a daughter of Charles and Matilda Hyers Stewart, she was graduated from Port Leyden Central High School.
  She married Robert Marmon, Sr., in June 1957 at St. Martin’s Church, Port Leyden, with Rev. Aloysius A. Isele officiating.
  At the time of her marriage, Mrs. Marmon was employed with the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co., New York City. She later was employed for several years by Chemical Bank, North Babylon. For the past five years, she had worked for Catholic Charities.

  The ushers were William L Marmon, Port Leyden, brother of the bridegroom, and Douglas Kessler, Syracuse. Richard Castellano, Utica, was ring bearer.
  A reception was held at Hotel Richard, Port Leyden after which the couple left on a trip to the Pocono mountains. They will reside in Brooklyn.
  Mrs. Marmon, a graduate of Port Leyden Central School, is employed with the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, New York.
  Mr. Marmon was graduated from Port Leyden Central school and is attending his senior year at New York Phoenix School of Design. New York City. He is also associated with the I.B.M. department of the Chemical Corn bank of New York City.
