Arline R. ‘‘Becky'' Pratt, 54, of the Wellman Road, died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 18, 2001) in the home of her daughter. A lifelong area resident, she was born July 14, 1947, in Jamestown, the daughter of Ruby A. Butts Stahl and Milton E. Stahl Sr. Before her retirement for health reasons, she was employed as an assistant manager for the area Wilson Farm Stores and also for the local B.P. Service Stations. In earlier years she worked for the local movie theaters for 18 years and was well known for her work at the former Lakewood Drive Inn. She was a member of the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion Auxiliary. She will be remembered as being a mother to many children and one who loved to do crafts. Besides her mother of Ashville, she is survived by a son, Duane A. Pratt Jr. of Spring Hill, Fla.; two daughters: Becky Lynn Corcoran of Spring Hill and Candace O. Bowman of Ashville, who was her caregiver and with whom she made her home; three step-grandchildren: Joshua Bowman of Ashville, Tabatha and Kasandra, both of Kennedy. Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Duane A. ‘‘Pete'' Pratt, whom she married July 16, 1965, and who died Dec. 19, 2000; two brothers: Milton E. Jr. and Merle Stahl; and a sister, Roberta Johnson. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Ronald E. Houghton, pastor of God's Country Chapel, Clymer, will officiate. Burial will be in the Wellman Road Cemetery. Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

Milton E. Stahl Jr., 30, of Panama died Oct. 29, 1998 in Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
He was bom Aug. 29, 1948, in Jamestown, the son of Milton and Ruby Butts Stahl Sr.
A 1967 graduate of Chautauqua High School he served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1969 and was employed by Chautauqua Hardware for more than 20 years. remodeling.
He was a member ot the Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion, John W. Tiffany Post 53 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Thomas G. Stone Post 45 AmVets. He was captain of the Panama Volunteer Fire Department Fire Police and past president of the Chautauqua County Fire Police Association.
Besides his mother of Ashville, he is survived by his wife, Alesia James, whom he married Nov. 19. 1983; three sons: Timothy James, Michael Stahl and Zachery Stahl, all at home; two daughters: Kimberly Hallowell and Stephanie Stahl, both at home; two sisters: Roberta Johnson of Jamestown and Arlene Pratt of Ashville.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Merle Stahl.
The funeral was held at the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul George, pastor of Panama Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
Memorials may be made to the Panama Volunteer Fire Department or Chautauqua County Fire Police Association.

Francis Eugene Burch, 75, died of chronic lung disease on May 4, 2006 at Scripps Memorial Hospital, Encinitas. He was born in South Valley, New York on March 18, 1931.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He retired in l996, after serving 22 years as a manufacturing engineer with Rohr Industries in Chula Vista. Fran enjoyed playing golf, but his passion was his Masonic Order.
In Dec 2005, he was installed as Master of Oceanside-San Dieguito Lodge #381. His previous duties as Master were with San Dieguito Lodge #775 and Mission Bay Lodge #771. He volunteered with Scripps Hospital Encinitas and Meals on Wheels.
Fran is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris; daughter Karyn (Robert) Abramo, son Danny, and two grandchildren.
He will be inurned in Riverside National Cemetery. Fran and Doris are members of San Dieguito United Methodist Church of Encinitas. Rev. Hoffman will join with Fran's Masonic brothers to lead us in a celebration of his life on May 27 at 2pm at the Rancho Carlsbad Country Club Estates Clubhouse Ballroom, 5200 El Camino Real, Carlsbad.

Carol L. Burch, 77, of S. Center Street, Bear Lake, PA, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at Corry Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Burch was born January 5, 1932 in Bear Lake, PA, daughter of the late Carl and Claudia Kolstee Crosby.
She was raised and educated in Bear Lake, where she attended Bear Lake Grade School for eight years. She then attended Panama Central High School and graduated in 1950.
Following high school, Mrs. Burch had been employed at G.C. Murphy Co. in Corry. Following her marriage, she moved to California and worked for the J.J. Newberry Store in Covina and later worked at Midway Department Store in El Monte.
Mrs. Burch returned to Bear Lake in 1968, where her main priority was raising and caring for her family. In addition, she had been employed at Buyer's Fair store in Corry and worked there for 27 years.
She was a member of the Bear Lake United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and financial secretary. She had also served on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee of the church.
Mrs. Burch enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Burch on Oct. 13, 2001. They were married March 4, 1952 in Bear Lake.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Kent; four brothers, Lyle, Earl, Gerald and James Crosby; a granddaughter, Wanda Ross; two stepgranddaughters, Tracy Culver and Kathy Porter; and two greatgrandchildren, Shannon and Tierra Christensen.
Mrs. Burch is survived by four daughters, Patricia Ross and her husband, David of Corry, Cheryl Hardy and her husband, Ronald and Sharon Burch, all of Bear Lake and Diana Reaugh of Chandler's Valley; a son, Jeffrey Burch and his wife, Carla, of Bear Lake; and by three sisters, Mary Smith of Jamestown, NY, Carlene Le Coch of California and Ella Mae Gibbs of Ashville, NY.

PIERPONT, Ohio — Virginia M. Skurnog, 81, of Pierpont, Ohio, died Monday, March 19, 2012, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Hydetown, a daughter of Arlene G. (Trafton) and Ralph H. Sterling.
Formerly of Meadville, Mrs. Skurnog earned her GED in 1991. Mrs. Skurnog was a truck driver for Cunningham Sausage Company for many years. She was a crossing guard for the schools in Meadville and enjoyed reading and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Mrs. Skurnog is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Alvin J. Williams, and husband, John W. Skurnog; former husband, Charles L. Downing; a son, Randy S. Williams; a granddaughter, Jackie L. Williams; five sisters, Barbara Andrews, Joyce Brown, Florence Sterling, Pearl Sterling and Shirley Hale; and two brothers, Gail and Norman Sterling.
Survivors include four daughters, Sharon K. Johnson and Karen S. Williams, both of Ashtabula, Ohio, Carol R. Downing of Leesburg, Fla., and Tammy A. (Alan) Stills of Conneaut, Ohio; five sons, Carl A. (Marilyn) Williams, of Pierpont, Roger A. (Debbie) Williams of Wickliffe, Ohio, Alan L. Williams of Andover, Ohio, and Thomas R. (Abby) Whitbread and James O. (Jackie) Whitbread, both of Conneaut; four sisters, Janice I. Shaw of Albion, Norma J. Lehman of Meadville, Phyllis A. Boyle of San Diego, Calif., and Darlene R. Munshower of Meadville; three brothers, Edwin R. Sterling of West Springfield, and Merle R. Sterling and Alvin J. Sterling, both of Albion; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont.
