ANTHONY, Dennis C. - Age 53, of Columbiaville, died, January 14, 2003 at Lapeer Regional Hospital. Dennis was born June 16, 1949 in Flint. The son of Ben and Frances Anthony (Odell). Dennis served his country in the US Army. He worked at Fisher Body and the Buick Plant until 1985 and was a member of UAW 581 and 599. He enjoyed playing the guitar, banjo and liked hunting and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Dennis is survived by his mother, Frances Anthony of Columbiaville; son, Jeff Anthony of Georgia; daughter, Tracy (Steve) Hart of Otter Lake; brothers, Ed (JoAnn) Anthony of Fostoria, Floyd (Margaret) Anthony of Columbiaville, Bill (Deb) Anthony of Columbiaville; sister, Deanna (Walter) Fischhaber of Lewiston. Special Grandpa of Steven, Madeline and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his father, Ben and son, Benny Anthony. A memorial service will be held at a later date this spring. Joe Sorell, 82 year old Yuma, Arizona and former Douglas, Wyoming resident, passed away suddenly Saturday afternoon while camping in the Big Horn Mountains.
Joseph John Sorell was born on December 31, 1932 in Buffalo, Wyoming to Claude and Susan Sorell. He grew up on a ranch near Wyarno, Wyoming where he attended country schools. He went to high school in Sheridan and graduated from Sheridan High with the class of 1951. After high school Joe attended Sheridan College for a while before joining the military. He spent three years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa, the Philippines and Japan. He received an honorary discharge in April of 1956 and returned to work on a ranch in Otter, Montana. He was married on November 3, 1956 in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Buffalo to Laura Brown and they made their home in Sheridan where Joe worked at the Sheridan Flour Mill. In January of 1957 he worked for Shell Oil and in 1959 he went to work for Amerda Petroleum as a seismographer. He was transferred to Texas with Amerda Petroleum and later back to various parts of Montana. In 1963 he took a job with Coca Cola Company doing deliveries. In 1966 Joe joined the Wyoming Highway Patrol and worked out of Laramie for 5 years before moving to Douglas where he worked for 15 years retiring in 1986 after 20 years with the patrol. In 1995 after four years of retirement he went back to work for Department of Transportation as a field agent inspecting trucking companies in Arizona. In March of 1999 he retired completely and he and Laura continued living in Yuma, Arizona and spending summers in Wyoming until his death.
He was a member St. John Neauman Catholic Church in Yuma, a past member of St. James Catholic Church in Douglas and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Joe was a Square Dance Caller for 30 years and loved being in the mountains and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Laura of Yuma; three sons, Joseph Sorell Jr. and his wife Tammy of Douglas, Steven Sorell and his wife Char, also of Douglas and Gary Sorell and his wife Kathy of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter, Holli Hillboe of Douglas; two half brothers, Joe Larralde and his wife Punky of Buffalo and Carl Sorell and his wife Minder of Tucson, Arizona; two half sisters, Cheri White of Elgin, Oklahoma and Mary Jane of Montana; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Laurie, one son Chris and one half brother Leroy Larralde.

Chris Sorell, age 13, died Dec. 30, 1980 after he strangled on a "pop-top" in the area of the Clay Street railroad bridge where he was playing. Sorell was born on July 28, 1967 in Laramie, Wyoming where he lived for four years. He moved with his family to Douglas where he lived since and attended schools here. He was active in the seventh grade band. Survivors include his mother and father, Laura and Joe Sorell of Douglas; brothers Joe, Steve and Gary of Douglas; sisters Holli Hilleboe of Council, Idaho and Laurie of Douglas; grandmothers Joan Sorell and Dale Brown; great grandmother, Kathleen Collins; and nieces Valerie Hilleboe and Tiffanie Sorell. Duane W. SCHEIB (08/16/1927 - 10/30/2014)
SCHEIB, Duane W. (Age 87) Duane was born August 16, 1927 in Ephrata to Joseph E. Scheib and Gladys L. Scheib, and passed away October 30, 2014, in Spokane Valley, WA. His early childhood years during the Depression were spent with various family members in Soap Lake, WA and Sheridan, WY. In his teenage years his family followed work to Post Falls, ID, where they lived with his cousins and other family members. Once more moving for work, his family moved to Seattle, WA, where Duane worked two jobs at a shipyard and a grocery store during high school. At 17, after graduation, Duane joined the Maritime Service before transitioning to the Merchant Marines where he drove Navy transports in Japan, Korea and China during WWII. At 19 he enlisted in the Air Force and worked heavy equipment for four years during the end of the War with his final year spent in Thule, Greenland. Following his military career, Duane worked various jobs in construction and heavy equipment prior to joining the WA State Department of Highways, where he retired 30 years later as Supervisor of State Highways for Ferry County. Never being one to not work, Duane then started Scheib's Equipment Sales in Soap Lake and worked another 25 years doing the work he loved most - buying and selling big equipment. He was preceded in death by his sister Berniece Schutz, his parents Joe and Gladys Scheib, his first wife of 25 years Harriet Scheib, his daughters Margaret Olson and Lois Scheib, and his great grandson Charlie Bray. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Judy Scheib, his sister Winona (Ken) Lee, his daughters Teresa Scheib, Pauline (Kevin) Starkey, Becky (Tim) Peterson, Debra (Cal) McKee, and son Chad (MJ) Clayton. He is also survived by many stepchildren, grandchildren and family members. At the time of his death Duane was surrounded by more than 20 family members and passed peacefully in the loving arms of his wife. A celebration in honor of the life of Duane W. Scheib will be held at noon on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata, WA, with graveside services to follow at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake.
