- Obituary (Find A Grave / Yakima Herald Republic, Yakima, WA June 7-8, 2016)
Rosemary Cyr peacefully passed from this life into eternity on June 4, 2016. Rosemary Margaret Bondurant was born April 28, 1927 in Rapelje, Montana to Wallace (131316736 ?) and Goldie Bondurant (Peterson - 99407700 ?). She was the second born of 8 children. At a very young age the family moved to Hocquiam, Washington, where she lived until the age of 16 when the family moved to Yakima, Washington.
At the age of 20, Rosemary met and married her husband, Fred Cyr. They were married 60 years and had 6 children. Rosemary owned and operated Cyr Jewelry Manufacturing with her sons Fred and Carl. She created and carved charms of wildlife animals out of wax and cast them into gold and silver. Oil painting, poetry writing and singing, and playing the guitar were some of Rosemary’s many talents and interests. She loved working in her flower and rock garden, and always seemed to have a project she was working on. Mom wasn’t afraid to voice her opinion on any subject matter. Sometimes we appreciated her input and sometimes we didn’t, but she always made you think. Most importantly, Mom was a loving and supportive mother and we are going to miss her tremendously. Alzheimer’s disease whittled away at her little by little, and finally took her from us. Even though, right to the end, she could tell us she loved us. We miss you Mom, and will love you forever more!
Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Sr; parents, Wallace Bondurant and Goldie Peterson; brothers, Warren Roberts, Wallace Jr, and Lee and Bill Bondurant; sisters, Nikki Menconi, Dorothy Emerton, and son-in-law, Don Smith.
Her children are Theresa Smith (Don) of Seattle, Susan Abel (Rick), Fred Cyr Jr, (Karen), Carl Cyr (Veta), Don Cyr (Tina) of Yakima, and Roy (Shelley) of Selah. Rosemary has 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
We would like to thank Cedar Hills for the care they gave Mom the past 5 years and Cottage in the Meadow for caring for Mom the last few days of her life. You made her last few days the best they could be. We are very grateful.
Funeral Services will be held at Langevin El Paraiso Funeral Home, 1010 W. Yakima Ave., Yakima, WA, on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
- Obituary (Find A Grave)
YAKIMA - Fred Joseph Cyr, Sr., 88, a lifelong Yakima resident, passed away peacefully at Landmark Care Center on Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Fred was born August 6, 1922 to Edmond and Josephine Cyr. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines and the Fiji Islands. Dad said the scariest part of his service to our country was his trip home after the war on a Navy ship as they sailed through a typhoon. He said that he'd make it through the war but wasn't so sure he'd survive the trip home on that ship.
When Fred returned home he met and later married Rosemary Bondurant, his wife of 63 years. Together they have six children. Mom and Dad were the best parents. They love us unconditionally and we love them the same in return.
Fred was a gentle, quiet man with a big heart. Many a time he would come to our rescue. We all knew we could count on Dad and he would be there for us without fail. He was also full of good advice. When any of us encountered a problem, Dad would do his best to guide us in the right direction. He loved his family. When the family would get together and recall happy memories Dad would sit there and laugh till he cried, tears rolling down his cheeks.
In his younger days, Fred enjoyed fishing and bird hunting. In his later years his hobby turned toward carpentry and he always had a home improvement project going on. Fred also had a great appreciation of music and he enjoyed playing his guitar and organ.
Fred worked 35 plus years at Boise Cascade as a log scaler and scale operator and retired in 1986.
Fred is survived by his wife, Rosemary Cyr of Yakima, his children, Theresa Smith of Seattle, Susan (Richard) Abel, Fred (Karen) Cyr, Jr., Carl (Veta) Cyr, Donald (Tina) Cyr, all of Yakima, and Roy (Shelley) Cyr of Selah; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, his four siblings Walt (Ruth) Cyr, Earl Cyr, Louise Sisk, Lorraine Morgan, all of Yakima and his longtime best friend Walt Beam of Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edmond and Josephine Cyr, sister Vi Hecox, and his son-in-law Don Smith.
The family wants to express their thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff at Landmark Care Center who took such great care of Dad for the past 1 1/2 years.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday March 18, 2011, at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday March 19, 2011, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at West Hills Memorial Park at a later date.
