Taberg Aug. 16 - Claude Klock aged about 32, who lived in the southern part of the Town of Annsville, near the Lee line, fell down the embankment of the Fish Creek gorge a distance of nearly 50 feet at 8 o'clock last night and was instantly killed.
The fatality occurred at the farm of Charles W. Nelson, about three minutes walk from this village. Klock was seen near the edge of the gorge and Mr. Nelson started to go to him to warn him of the danger. When he reached the spot where Klock had been standing, he had disappeared. Mr. Nelson looked over the edge and saw that Klock had gone over and has hanging on some bushes about eight feet down. He was struggling to get back, Mr. Nelson told him ho hold on and rushed to the fence nearby and pulled of a long board.
Mr. Klock took hold of the board and Mr. Nelson started to pull him up, a job which was most difficult. However he was making good progress and thought he could save the mans life, when Klock in some way lost his grip on the board, fell backwards clear of the edge of the cliff and whirling to the bottom of the gorge.
