Jordanville News - A happy event of the past week was the marriage of Catherine Owens and Gordon Hoke on Wednesday night, May 29 at the Methodist parsonage in Mohawk. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Jordan of Starkville were the attendants. The new Mrs. Hoke is a fourth grade teacher at Ilion Central School. The couple took a brief trip to Niagara Falls, Letchworth Park and Watkins Glen and are now living in their new home here.

MOHAWK - Miss Davida Ann Owens became the bride of Hall Templeton Christman at 7 p. m. Friday in the Mohawk Reformed Church. The Rev. James William Benes performed the double ring candlelight ceremony. Mrs. Wallace Burke, Columbia Center, and Theron Thompson, Geneseo, provided traditional music.
A reception follewed in the church parlors.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Quayle, 78 West Main St Mr. Cristman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marx Q. Cristman, Ilion RD 1.
Mrs. Gordon E. Hoke, Jordanville, was matron of honor for her sister, and Miss Ann Marie Rumble, Medina, attended as maid of honor.
Scott F. Cristman, Ilion, was best man. He is the bridegroom's brother. Niles Oliver, Rochester, and Richard J. Aulerich, Lansing, Mich., the bridegroom's brother-in-law ushered.
Following a wedding trip the couple will make their home in Rochester.
The bride was graduated from the State University College at Genseo. She will be on the faculty of the Spencerport School System in the fall. Mr. Cristman was graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology, School of Photography. He will continue studies there in the fall and also be associated with Carhart Inc., Rochester.- Divorced in Nevada, 22 Mar, 1984.

ILION, N.Y.
Robert E. Jacquays, 64, of Ilion, passed away peacefully, March 22, 2012, at his residence, with his loving family by his side.
He was born August 8, 1947, in Herkimer, the son of the late Nelson and Virginia Geer Jacquays and attended Mohawk schools. Robert served in the United State Navy overseas during the Vietnam War. He was employed with Costello Paving Company, Schuyler.
Robert was a proud member of the V.F.W. Post 502 Ilion/Frankfort and the American Legion Post 25, Mohawk. He had a great love for the outdoors, especially for fishing, camping, and boating. Robert enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a die hard Syracuse Orangemen Basketball Fan.
He is survived by his companion, Jackie Rogers; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Mike Gray, of West Winfield, and Carol Jacquays and Scott Lawrence, of Ilion; his siblings and their spouses, Eleanor and Bill Parslow, of Mohawk, Georgiann Jacquays, of Mohawk, Jeanine Jacquays (Joyce), of Ilion, Tom Jacquays (Connie), of Herkimer, and David and Jane Jacquays, of Ilion; his grandchildren, Michael and Megan Gray, Corina and Alyssa Lawrence; Jackie's children, Wendy Rogers, of Cassville, Ross and Jen Rogers, of Bridgewater, and Buddy and Kelly Rogers, of Brookfield; Jackie's grandchildren, Corey, Makayla, Kaleb, Dayton and Kaylee; his special friends, Tim and Kathy, and Dana and Erik; and his former wife, Diana Keeler Snell. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Roger Jacquays; his brother, Angelo "Tiny" Jacquays; and his sister, Geraldine Winter.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Applegate, Day and Enea Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Town of Frankfort, Ilion, on March 25, 2012, from 12-2 PM and 4-6 PM. Members of the V.F.W. Post 502, Ilion/Frankfort will be gathering at the funeral home for a 1 PM service. Robert's funeral will occur immediately following the calling hours at 6 PM Sunday, in the chapel of the funeral home. Internment will take place later at the convenience of the family in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest with his parents.

Marriage Notes for Roberta Mang and David Mergenthaler

Ilion—Miss Roberta Mang and David L. Mergenthaler were married at 1, Sept. 5 in the North Columbia Church parsonage with the Rev. James Dickinson performing the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Ernest Weil was the organist.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Mang. Her husband is the son of Fred Mergenthaler, Ilion, RD, and Mrs. Grace Mergenthaler, 150 Otsego St.
The couple was attended by Mrs. James Schultz, the bride's sister, and Larry A. Sickler, Frankfort, the bride's brother-in-law.
A reception was held in the Columbia Center Town Hail. After a trip through
New England, The newlyweds will live at 124 Otsego St.
The bride is employed by the Duofold Co., Mohawk. Her husband is with the Hiteman Leather Co., West Winfield.

ILION • LITCHFIELD - Daniel Lee Mergenthaler, 21, formerly of RD #1, Silver St.. currently resided at 93 Aspen Ledges, Ridgefield, Conn., died Wednesday, May
25,1988, as a result of being hit by a truck while bicycling with friends.
He was born March 27, 1967, in Ilion, a son of David and Roberta Mang Mergenthaler, Sr. Most of hislife was spent attending Ilion and Mt. Markham Schools. He graduated from Mount Markham in 1985. Wrestling was the love of his life, with a well established wrestling career he broke many "Valley" and Central New York records. He was also a major factor in Mt. Markhara's football victories at the Syracuse Dome. He was outstanding best defensive play at the Dome. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he graduated "Honor Man" from the 3rd Bn. Parris Island, S.C. He also received numerous Meritorious Mast andgraduating top student from the Marines Advanced Armored Tracked Vehicles School in Kentucky. He was Honorably discharged from the Marines on November 16. 1987. He then started his carpentry apprenticeship in Conn, with Carlson Builders. He was a member of the North Columbia United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his parents. David, Sr. and Roberta, of Litchfield; a sister, Shelley and her husband. Mike Cole, of Cedarville; a brother, David, Jr.. and his wife. Colette Mergenthaler, of Buffalo. NY; a niece. Kaylia Janeen Mergenthaler, of Buffalo; a nephew, Mike David Cole, of Cedarville; grandparents. William and Gertrude Mang, of Columbia Center, Ilion, Frederick Mergenthaler, Sr., of Ilion, and Grace Cave, of Ilion: a great-grandmother. Esther Mang, of Richfield Springs; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10.00 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home. Inc. 115 Court St.. Herkimer with the Rev. Mario Gazzilli officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedarville Cemetery. Calling hours Saturday 7-9 p.m.. and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
