The Hawkins Name
 - Hawkins is derived from the village of Hawkins, in the Hundred of Folkstone.
 - Osbert de Hawking, in the reign of Henry II, was an ancestor of Andrew Hawkins of Nash Court, near Fabersham, Kent, in the reign of Edward III. (He had married Joan de Nash, heiress).

Hawkins Coat of Arms:
 - In Edward III's reign, the King of Navarre declared war against France. He collected men to fight, including 300 men under the command of Rabigois of Derry, Franklyn, and Hawkins, in 1358.
 - The Coat of Arms memorialized the taking of the Castle of Mauconseil, with the saltier being the scaling ladder, the fleure de lis memorializing the service in France.  Arms: Argent, on a saltier sable, five fleurs de lis or (On a silver shield, a black saltier (cross) with 5 gold fleurs de lis thereon)  Crest: On a mount vert, a doe lodged or (A golden doe on a green mount)  Motto: Toujours Pret (Always ready)  (Note that the coat of arms awarded to Sir John Hawkins was different.)

  NEWPORT - Miss Sara Winifred Hawkins became the bride of Wayne Alan Getman ae 11 yesterday in the Newport Methodist  Church. The Rev. Russell E. Little performed the double ring ceremony, with Mrs. Dorothy Munn as the organist.
  The bride who was married on her grandmother's birthday, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Myron C. Hawkins, this village. Mr. Getman is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Richard Getman, RD 2, Richfield Springs.
  Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by Miss Melda M. Brandt, Wilmington, Del., Miss Charlotte Hawkins, the bride's sister, served as bridesmaid with Miss Marcia Getman, Richfield Springs, the bridegroom's sister. Mis Mary Beth Getman, another sister, attended as a junior maid.
  Glenn Armstorng, Richfield Springs, was best man. Ushers were Terrence Kloss, Saratoga Springs, and John Brykailo, Mohawk. Master Mark Ouimette, the bride's cousin, served as page.
  Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Masonic Temple, this village. after a trip to Canada and Expe 67, the newlyweds will make their home at RD 2 Richfield Springs.
  The new Mrs. Getman recieved her bacelor of arts degree from Vassar College and taught in the Utica School System. She is now working toward her master's degree in school psychology at Syracuse University.
  Mr. Getman served three years in the Army and is currently a student at the State University - Agricultural and Technical Institue at Cobleskill. He is also engaged in farming.

  MOHAWK – Alton (Al) E. Boepple, 83 of Spring Street, Mohawk, NY and for over 50 years of State Route 167, Little Falls, NY passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Faxton-St. Luke’s Medical Center, New Hartford.

    He was born on June 26, 1935 in West Winfield, NY the son of the late Lloyd Thomas and Mable (Worden) Boepple.  He was a graduate of Mohawk High School Class of 1953.

    On April 11, 1959 he was united in marriage to his wife of almost 60 years the former Joyce E. Getman at the Paines Hollow Methodist Church.

    For many years Mr. Boepple was the owner and operator of the family dairy farm CT Lin Farm on State Route 167, Town of Little Falls.  Following his retirement from farming he went on to work for the Town of Little Falls Highway Department for 13 years.  Retiring in 2000.

    He is survived by his wife Joyce, his daughters Cheryl Brown and her husband George, Oppenheim, Terry Hadsell and her husband David, Mohawk and Linda Boepple, Mohawk, his grandchildren Joshua Brown (Jamie), Jessie Preston (Jon), Tanya Pitcher (Adam), Kayla Hadsell and Kara Reinhardt, great grandchildren, Zoe Pitcher, Ashlyn Pitcher and Alaina Brown, sisters in law, Jean Boepple, Little Falls and Ann Boepple, Nebraska and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers Carl Boepple in 2007, Wayne Boepple in 2009, by his sister Beverly Harwick in 1997 and by his brother in law Jim Harwick in 2018.  

    Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls later in the spring of 2019.

 - Wedding Announcement (The Evening Telegram, Herkimer-Ilion, NY, Saturday, April 25, 1959)
  MOHAWK—Miss Joyce Elaine Getman daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Getman, R. D. 1, became the bride of Alton Boepple. son of Mrs. Lloyd Boepple, also of R. D. 1 and the late Mr. Boepple, at an 11 a. m. ceremony on April 11 at the Paines Hollow Methodist Church.
  Henry Opperman, pastor, performed the single ring ceremony in a setting of white gladioli and white candles. Wedding music was played by Miss Betty Lou Cone, Mohawk Central School music teacher.
  Mrs. Joanne Worden served as matron of honor, while the Misses Beverly Boepple, sister of the bridegroom, Patricia Sadlon and Patricia Coveleski were bridesmaids. Jack Bladek served as best man and Burton Boepple, Jr., Robert Boepple, a cousin of the bridegroom, and James Harwick were ushers.
  The bride, escorted by her father, wore a gown fashioned with a lace top, square neckline and long pointed sleeves. Her plain satin skirt was worn with a hoopskirt and fell into a short train. Her fingertip veil was caught to a lace cap. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses.
  The matron of honor had a gown with rose-colored taffeta underskirt and pink lace overskirt and carried’ a bouquet of pink carnations and pink roses. The bridesmaids were dressed alike in green taffeta with white lace overskirts and carried colonial bouquets of white carnations and red roses.
  A reception followed at the Paines Hollow Grange Hall. After a trip to Niagara Falls and Canada, the couple are residing at Little Falls R. D.
  The bride Is a graduate of Mohawk Central School and has been working as a laboratory technician at Ilion Hospital. He is a Mohawk Central School graduate and engaged in farming.
  Showers were given by Mrs. Francis Schwarz, Miss Beverly Beopple and Mrs. Jean Beopple; Mrs. Joanne Warden, Miss Patricia Coveleski; Mrs. Leslie Warden
aunt of the bride; Paines Hollow Grangers; staff and fellow workers of Ilion Hospital.
   Guests attended from Herkimer, Ilion, Mohawk, Little Falls, Richfield Springs.
