 - Obituary (Leader-Herlad, Gloversville - Johnstown, NY, Tuesday, January 4, 1977)
  OPPENHEIM — Donald Waner, 32, of St. Johnsville RD 2, was pronounced dead on arrival at Little Falls Hospital Saturday night after being stricken at a friend's home on St. Johnsville RD 1. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.
  Born May 18, 1944, in Starkville, he was the son of Edward Waner of St. Johnsville RD 1, and the late Agnes Ash Waner.
He attended schools in VanHornesville and St. Johnsville, from which he was graduated in 1963.
  For the last 10 years he resided in Oppenheim and for the last seven years had been a mechanic and bus driver for the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School.
  In addition to his father, he is survived by a step mother, Mrs. Edward Waner; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ash of Fort Plain RD 1; and one stepsister, Mrs. Marie Woods of Randall.
  A service was held at 2 this afternoon at the Swartz Funeral Home, Fort Plain, with Rev. William Davis, pastor of the St. Johnsville United Methodist Church.
  The Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School was dismissed at 11 this morning so faculty, administration, staff and students could attend the funeral.

  ST. JOHNSVILLE ... Miss Pamela Lamphere of Stone Arabia was given a bridal shower Saturday evening by Mrs. Betty Bradbury and Miss Theresa Elms at the Pizer home on Monroe Street. About 25 guests were present.
  The guest of honor was presented a corsage of white carnations by the hostesses and opened her gifts while seated under an archway decorated with white streamers and a wedding bell. Assisting her were her sisters, the Misses Dawn and Billie Sue Lamphere and The Misses Judy Wheaton and Linda Rice.
  Games were played and prizes awarded. The guest prize was won by Mrs. Carlton Rice. Refreshments were served, including a decorated shower cake. Tables and favors were decorated in a horn of plenty theme.
  Miss Lamphere will be married to Donald Waner of St. Johnsville on Oct. 21.

  The bride-to-be is a 1983 graduate of Fort Plain Centra! School and a 1987 graduate of Hartwick College, Oneonta, earning her degree in computer science. She is currently employed as a programmer/analyst with Infosearch Inc., Albany.
  Her fiance is a 1982 graduate of Fort Plain Central School and a 1985 graduate of Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Johnstown, earning his degree in natural resources and wildlife conservation. He is currntly employed as assistant water operator with the Village of Fort Plain.

  ST. JOHNSVILLE — The Esso service station on East Main street which for the past 12 1/2 years has been owned and operated by John "Butsy" Palma, justice of the peace, has been purchased by Donald Hoffman of 16 East Liberty street, who will take over Friday.
  He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hoffman, and was graduated from St. Johnsville central school in the class of 1961. He is married to the former Joanne Polinsky, and they have two children.
  Hoffman worked part-time at the station as a youth, and later became a full-time employe. He was employed for two years by the Robert C. Failing Inc. garage, and more recently has been employed by the village department of public works.

  Miss Margaret Nellis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nellis of St. Johnsville, and Brian, A. Patrei, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert. Patrei, also of St. Johnsville, were united in marriage on Aug. 18 in St. John's Reformed Church. The Rev. Ross Westhuis, pastor; performed the double ring ceremony.
  Escorted by her father, the bride wore a Juliet styled gown of nylon organza fashioned with a venise lace bodice, high neckline, long, full sleeves with lace cuffs, empire waistline and a detachable train trimmed with daisies. Her bouffant veil fell from a headpiece of the same flowers and she carried a bouquet of white daisies.
  Miss Glenna Chandler, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor in a pale pink gown of silk organza styled with a high neck line, empire waistline accented with a satin belt and full sleeves trimmed with tiny ruffles of lace. A satin bow held her bouffant veil. Miss Martha Nellis, sister of the bride; Miss Joanne Patrei, cousin of the bridegroom, and Miss Kathy Brundage were bridesmaids in aqua gowns identical to that of the maid of honor's with matching satin bow headpieces. Terra Fowler of Nelliston was,flower girl. She wore a long white gown with a hoop skirt and a headpiece of flowers and she carried a basket of pink, blue and white flowers.
  Harvey Brundage Jr. was best man and ushers were Curtis Nellis, brother of the bride; Robert Patrei, brother of the bridegroom, and Lee Arduini, Todd Hoffman, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer. Following a reception and buffet luncheon held at the Benefit Club rooms in Klock Park, the couple left on a wedding trip to Hampton Beach, N.H. They are residing in St. Johnsville.
  The bride, a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, is employed as a key punch operator by the Palatine Dyeing Co., Inc., in St. Johnsville. Mr, Patrei was graduated from St. Johnsville High; School and is employed as a construction worker.
