  H. Richard Getman, 72, of Gloversville, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam after a long battle with lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.
  He was born in Gloversville on April 11, 1941, the son of the late George H. and Florence (Gregory) Getman Boles, and was a lifelong resident of the Gloversville area.
  Richie is survived by his loving wife Christine (Sartin) Getman, who he married on April 24, 1989; his son Jeffrey (Tracey) Getman and three grandchildren Madeline, Hannah and Nathaniel Getman, Mt. Kisco, NY; stepchildren Beth Hay (Mark Foster) and Bradley Brink of Gloversville; and step-grandchildren Jake Palmer, Garrick Hay and Elise Foster all of Gloversville, Evan Brink of Wilmington, NC and Alexander Brink of Martinsburg, WV.
  He is also survived by sisters Joyce (Alphonso) Mancini of Fonda, Betty Ann Getman of Gloversville, Linda Sue (Edward) Hartin of Greenbank, WA and Kathryn Billie Towne (Greg Patterson) of Gloversville; brothers George H. (Janice) Getman of Gloversville and Naples, FL, Lawrence (Dorothy) Getman, James (Donna) Getman and Carl (Jacquelyn) Boles, all of Gloversville; brothers-in-law Frederick “Skip” (Barbara) Sartin and Jeff Lee Sartin (Sharon Cannizzo) both of Gloversville; many nieces and nephews, best friend Michael (Patricia) Sweeney, many wonderful friends and his feline “dogs” Mork and Mindy.
   In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepfather Carl T. Boles and his canine buddy Jack.
  Richard worked in the construction business, owned a fish market for several years, worked in the leather industry (including traveling to many foreign countries while with Wilson’s Leather) and bartended at Bleecker Fish & Game Club. His favorite times were spent with family and friends, often at his family’s camp at Mountain Lake and included hunting, fishing, golfing, snowmobling and four-wheeling.
  Richie’s family wishes to acknowledge the dedicated and loving care he received from the 4th floor nursing staff at St. Mary’s, Mountain Valley Hospice and Doctors William Mayer and Kevin Cope.
  Suggested memorial contributions are to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville or to the Brennan Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville.
  At Richie’s request, he will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at the Concordia Club, Gloversville from 12 p.m. (Noon) to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014.

  Miss Mary Ann Dence, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dence, 2 School Street and Robert Earle Stock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stock, 22 South Melcher Street were united in marriage at 2 Saturday afternoon at Immaculate Conception Church.
  The double ring ceremmony was performed by Rev. Joseph P. Lamanna. Traditional wedding music was played.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, was attired in a white nylon tulle gown with lace bodice and carried a white bible with an orchid.
  Mrs. Clara Foote, Johnstown, matron of honor, wore a pink organza street-length gown with matching headpiece and carried a colonial bouquet of aqua pom pons.
  The bride's attendants, sisters of the bridegroom, were Miss Marilyn Stock and Mrs. Shirley Van Aernam, both of Johnstown, and Mrs. Eula Ann Herrey , of Pittstown.
  Miss Stock and Mrs. Herrey wore blue flowered street-length gowns of nylone tulle, with matching head-piece, and carried colonial bouquets of yellow pom pons.
  Mrs. Van Aernam was attired in a similar gown of orchid and carried a colonial bouquet of orchid pom pons.
  Nancy Gail Van Aernam of Johnstown, niece of the bridegroom was flowergirl.
  Louis Aguileria of Johnstown was bestman. Ushers were Richard Stock Jr., of Johnstown, brother of the bridegroom and Rovert Van Aernam, of Johnstown, and Eugene Herrey, of Pittstown. The latter two are brothers-in-law of the bridegroom.
  The mother ov the bride ware a navy blue suit with white accessories and orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a silk lilac eylet dress, with white accessories and orchid corsage.
  The ceremony was followed by a reception on the lawn of the home of the bride's grandmother, Mrs. Gladys Smith, East Main Street Extention. It was attended  by 100 guests. a buffet luncheon was served.
  The bride attended schools in Perth. The bridegroom is a Johnstown High School graduate and is employed by  Aggie's Home Improvement Company, Johnstown.
  The couple left on a trip to Niagara Falls and Canada.

  Miss Josephine I. St. John, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vosteen of 117 South Market Street, was united in marriage to Marvin J. Stock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stock of 32 South Melcher Street, at a ceremony at 2 Sunday afternoon at Immaculate Conception Church. Rev. Joseph P. Lamanna, pastor, performed the single ring ceremony.
  A white carpet covered the aisle. Mrs. Agnes S-----, accompanied by John Ivanck of Johnstown, at the organ, sang "Ave Maria"
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white taffeta gown designed with a scalloped circle neckline, long pointed sleeves and a fitted bodice adorned with re-embroideery of Chantilly lace. The bouffant skirt was appliqued with lace motifs. A detachable train reembroidered with lace, fell from the shoulder line. Her bouffant veil of silk illusion was attached to a headpiece of hand-rolled rose petals and pearls and crystals. She carried a colonial bouquet of white mums.
  Mrs. Sarah Andrews, Gloversville, was matron of honor for her niece. She wore a Samaron rose and petal pink ensemble, the gown designed with a fitted brocade bodice and crepe skirt and the straight brocade coat with shoulder bows. Her. rose petal hat was trimmed with bouffant veiling. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink mums.
  Richard L. Stock, Caroga Lake RD, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Robert Van Aernam, Caroga Lake, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, was usher.
  The mother of the bride wore a turquoise and gold brocade jacket dress and hat and a corsage of white mums.
  The mother of the bridegroom wore a gold brocade dress with white mums.
  A reception for 100 was held at the American Legion Home after the ceremony with guests attending from Johnstown, Gloversville, Albany, Caroga Lake nnd Pittstown. The Callahan Combo of Johnstown provided music for dancing.
  The bride wore a pink knit outfit for a wedding trip. The couple will reside at 9 Byard Street
  Gifts were presented to attendants after rehearsal Friday night.
  Both the bride and bridegroom are June graduates of Johnstown High School.
  The bride is employed at the General Telephone Company of Upstate New York, Johnstown. The bridegroom is employed as manager at the Royce Shoe Store, Amsterdam.

  Mr. Harold A. Dence Jr., 60, of West Montgomery Street, Johnstown, died Saturday, Jan. 26, at home after being stricken. He was born on July 2, 1941 in Johnstown, the son of Harold A. and Jessie VanAernam
Dence.
  Mr. Dence was an avid hunter, fisherman and bingo player. He was employed as a leather worker at Johnstown Leather until his retirement.
  Survivors include his wife, Linda Jeans Dence, whom he married on July 8, 1963; three sons, John, Roger and Robert Dence, all of Johnstown; one sister, Mary Quinones of Gloversville; his mother, Jessie Dence of Gloversville; six grandchildren; four  reatgrandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
  He was predeceased by one son, Harold A. Dence, who died in 1999. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215
E. Main St., Johnstown, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

  Linda L. Dence, age 64, of Johnstown, passed away on Friday October 24, 2008, at Albany Medical Center, after a long illness.
   Linda was born November 11, 1943, in Broadalbin to the late Ralph Jeans and Cora Mead Jeans.
   She was employed at local glove companies the former Johnstown Knitting Mill, and she was last employed as a Home Health Aide until she retired due to illness.
   Mrs. Dence was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Full Gospel Assembly, Johnstown and was also a member of the Improved Order of Red Men degree of Pocahontas.
   On July 8, 1963 she was united in marriage to Harold A. Dence Jr. and he passed away on January 26, 2002.
   Survivors include three sons John (Denise) Dence of Gloversville, Roger Dence of Johnstown, and Robert (Patty) Dence of Johnstown; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
   In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son Harold A Dence, a granddaughter Natashia Chaimouratov, and a great granddaughter Kaycee Anderson
   Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
   Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 11 until 1 prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
   Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to the charity of one's choice.

Walters, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Walters, also of Gloversville, Rev. Milton Lavery officiated at the ceremony held in the North Main Street Methodist Church.
  Escorted by her father, the bride was attended by Miss Sandra Skiff, maid of honor; Mrs. Betty Ellis and Miss Vicki Kucel, bridesmaids. Richard Walters served as best man for his brother. Ushers were Donald Ellis and Frank Bowman. A reception for 150 guests was held at the Fellowship hall of the church.
   The bride, a graduate of Gloversville high school, is employed at the Fulton County Laboratory. The bridegroom served four years in the U.S. Navy and is presently employed at Freher and Jung Plumbing Co.
  Following a wedding trip to Bar Harbor, Me., the couple is residing at 409 North Main street, Gloversville.

  PERRY—Pvt. Leslie Adams, this community's first grandfather to be inducted, has received an honorable discharge from the army. He served nearly eight months with the medical corps at Brigham, Utah.
  Adams' grandson, Richard Janas, was one year old Mar. 20. The child's father, Pvt. Albert Janas of Rochester, is stationed at Fort Bragg, N. C. The family plans to move to Rochester and will reside at 417 Broadway. Adams will be employed in defense work.

  ROCHESTER - Richard D. ''Dick'' Janas, 60, of Red Spruce Lane, Rochester, died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 16, 2002)[sic] in Strong Memorial Hospital.
   He was born March 31, 1942, in Warsaw, N.Y., the son of the late Albert Janas and Geraldine Janas Powers.
   He was involved in the amusement business and took care of the outdoor amusements for the Lucy-Desi Days and the city Gus Macker basketball tournament, as well as the Cattaraugus County and Warren County fairs. He was past president of the Outdoor Amusement Business Association and was given the Holmes McBride Award in 1997 by North Carolina Association of Fairs.
   Dick's efforts were always put forth to better all in the outdoor amusement industry and this concern was the driving force of his peers choosing him to lead them in their endeavors. He considered the others in the amusement business his extended family. He was very generous in his efforts to raise money for charity, especially the Outdoor Amusement Business Association Scholarship Auction, held in North Carolina. A highlight for Dick and his wife, Ann, was traveling to Rome and hearing Mass offered by Pope John Paul II.
   He is survived by his wife, Ann Janas, of Rochester; a son, Marc Janas; and a daughter, Karen Tuttle, both of Rochester; five grandchildren: Zachary, Hannah and Noah Janas, and Colby and Lindsay Tuttle, all of Rochester; a sister, Mary Jean Lawrence of Rochester; a brother, Les ''Corky'' Powers of Burgaw, N.C.; and a stepmother, Josephine Janas of Rochester.
   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepfather, Eddy Powers; and his maternal grandparents, Les and Jessie Adams.
    The funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 W. Ridge Road, Greece, N.Y. Interment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
   Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Bartolomeo and Perotto Funeral Home Inc., 1411 Vintage Lane, Rochester.
