ROBERT M. MEYERS DIED SUDDENLY
Former Ilion Business Man Achieved Prominence in the Paper Business.
Little Falls, Oct. 26.—The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle says: "Shortly after entering his place of business at No. 29 Exchange street, yesterday afternoon, Robert M. Myers, senior member of the paper firm of Robert M. Myers & Co., was stricken with heart disease. Death came in a few minutes. Drs. Edward G. Nugent and W. A. Keegan were called, but could do nothing. Coroner Klelndlenst was notified and learned that Mr. Myers had been under treatment for heart trouble for more than a year. He will give a certificate. Mr. Myers was a man of considerable prominence in the paper business in this country and also was well known in banking circles. He was born at Fort Herkimer, Herkimer County. January 14, 1843. When the Civil War broke out he enlisted. He served in the United States navy as surgeon's steward in charge on the Wyandotte. In the last year of the war, the surgeon of the Wyandotte was transferred and Mr. Myers was chosen to take up his duties. That he filled the post acceptably was shown when the Wyandotte entered New Tork Harbor at the year's close, the inspector of the port complimenting Mr. Myers on the ship's condition.
"Soon after peace was declared Mr. Myers was made deputy collector of internal revenue for the twentieth district New York. Later he entered
business in Ilion."
