  CAMDEN- Richard D. Sweeting, 42, 12 Second Street, died Thursday in Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse after a long illness.
  He was born March 23, 1928 in Baldwinsville, son of Clarence and Eva Moores.
  He married the former Harriet Strail, September 21, 1963, in Virginia.
Mr. Sweeting was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Williamstown American Legion.
  Surviving besides his widow are two sons, Bradley and Douglas, and a daughter, Ellen, Camden; and two sons, Richard and Timothy, and two daughters, Nancy and Paula of Hilton, N.Y., children of a previous marriage.
  He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Terry (Barbara) Burdick, Williamstown; and a brother, Paul, Hilton.
  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Sanborn Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Mills of the United Methodist church officiating.
  Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

  Greece: Peacefully, on Saturday, September 25, 2021, after an extended illness, at age 69.
  He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda (Panarites); siblings, Tim (Tracey), Nancy (Patrick) Farrell, Paula (Bruce) Parker, Terri Bourne, David Brower, Brad (Carol), Doug and Ellen Sleeman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Jane Panarites; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends; Kookie, Mags and Rey.
  He is predeceased by his parents. Beverly Brower and Richard D. Sweeting.
  Rick was an outstanding athlete all his life and was among the inaugural group of alumni inducted into the Hilton High School Athletic Hall of Fame. As an adult, he played softball, racquetball, squash, and golf. He loved playing golf and made many good friends over the years at Brockport, Stafford, and most recently, Brook Lea Country Club.
  He had an interest in all sports and was a loyal SU and Bills fan. He enjoyed a good cigar, Negronis, Fall trips to The Point and the Whiteface Lodge, Christmastime in NYC, many family gatherings and holidays with the Lissow side of the family whom he loved very much, and anything Star Wars.
  Rick loved his pets, all of whom "chose" him, but he had a special bond with his late cats Roy and Patches. He was committed to feeding wild birds and enjoyed watching them along with other wildlife that wandered through the back yard.
  He spent much of his career in the brick industry, where he also made many good friends, and had retired from Redland Brick Company.
  A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Panarites/Sweeting Family Endowed Scholarship c/o SUNY Oswego, 215 Sheldon Hall, Oswego, NY 13126 (Check made to: Oswego College Foundation, Inc.) which is awarded to an entering student from either Hilton or Spencerport High Schools.

  Williamstown- Donald G. Ripka 77, of County Rt. 30A passed away at home on Monday Sept 20,2010. Don was born on Nov 11, 1932 in Rome, NY one of three children of the late George & Ruth Saddler Ripka. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from September 1951 to August 1955 out of Norfolk, VA. He was assigned to the USS Strickland #333, discharged as an ME 3rd Class Petty Officer. On May 19, 1956 he married the former Beverly Wiggins in Williamstown.
  Don was a welder, millwright, mechanic and accomplished woodworker. He was employed at Bristol Labs, Lamson Corp., Camden Wire, Schoeller Paper, Omega Wire, and General Electric. He retired in 1994 from Associated Maintenance of Syracuse. He was a member of the Williamstown Church of Christ and the Hastings – Gorski American Legion. Don was an avid fisherman for many years, a gardener and woodworker. Nearly all of his woodworking projects were given with love at no cost to the recipient. He had the gift of looking at a photo and building the item exactly as pictured without plans. For many years he repaired and built shelving for the Williamstown Library where his wife is currently director. His most recent gift was their circulation desk. He enjoyed 15 years of retirement with trips to Hawaii and Alaska.
  He will be remembered by his family and friends for his no nonsense practical way of looking at life, his loyalty and sincere helpfulness to anyone who needed anything. Surviving besides his wife, are a daughter; five grandchildren; a sister and a brother, and many nieces and nephews.
  Memorial services will be held 11:00 am Saturday September 25, at the Williamstown Church of Christ, Grant Rd. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4-8 pm at LaRobardiere Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, Camden, NY.   Norma J. Woodcock Crandall, 78, of Fish Creek Landing, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2017, in the house she was born in surrounded by her four loving daughters.
  Norma was born on August 2, 1938, in Fish Creek Landing, the daughter of George E. and Emma P. Ripka Woodcock. A lifelong resident of the Landing, she was a graduate of Camden Central Schools, Class of 1956, where she was a cheerleader and member of the Moonhowlers.
  On February 20, 1959, Norma was united in marriage to Arloe Crandall in the Camden United Methodist Church. A blessed union of fifty-seven years until his passing on May 15, 2016.
  Norma worked at Griffiss Air Force Base, babysat for scads of children, and also worked at the Canal View Café. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching Syracuse Basketball games with her beloved Arloe.
  Surviving are her four daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) Whalen, of Oneida, Nanette (Everett) Tobiasson, of West Turin, Rebecca (Stanley) Grose, of Ilion and Amy (Andrew) Lippert, of Carlisle, PA; 10 grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Wickham and Ryan’s father Steven Wickham, Patrick (Kate) Tobiasson, Richard and Emma Tobiasson, Victoria and Jacquelyn Hendrix, Anna, Grace, Nathaniel and Catherine Lippert; 10 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Peyton, Natalia, Jasper, Sawyer, Christen, Caleb, Mattie, Myiah and Fiona; a brother, James P. (Rose) Roney, of North Bay; a sister-in-law, Dorothy (Neil) Wood, of Bernard’s Bay; two “adopted” daughters, Debbie Seeber, and Kathy Smyth; and several nieces and nephews. Norma was predeceased
by a grandson, Christopher Wickham; a sister, Doris (Joseph) Pounds; and a brother, Leon Allen Woodcock.
  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main St., Camden. Interment will take place in McConnellsville Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

  Arloe R. Crandall, 79, of 2836 Cook Road, Blossvale died Sunday May 15, 2016 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, after a brief illness. Arloe was born on April 18, 1937 in Syracuse, the son of Ralph M. and Alida M. Jones Crandall. A lifelong resident of the central New York area, he was a graduate of Central Square High School class of 1954, where he played on the football, basketball and baseball teams.  
   Following high school, he served with the U.S. Navy from July of 1954 until he was honorably discharged in 1958. On Feb. 20, 1959 he married Norma Woodcock in the Camden United Methodist Church, and they were married for 57 years.
  Arloe was a hard worker. He had been employed at Griffis Air Force Base and Serway Brothers. He also worked on his father-in-law's dairy farm. In 1965 he founded Crandall's Woodworking, and for the next 35 years he was a woodworking specialist and specialized in wood cabinets and countertops. He retired in 2000. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events and also loved to watch the SU basketball team and the New York Yankees. Despite the fact that they couldn't hear him, he was known to yell obscenities at the tv when his teams weren't playing well. He also enjoyed playing poker with his brothers and sister at family reunions and with his Saturday night cronies.
  Surviving is his loving wife Norma; four daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) Whalen of Oneida, Nanette (Everett) Tobiasson of West Turin, Rebecca (Stanley) Grose of Ilion and Amy (Andrew) Lippert of Carlisle, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Ryan (Stephanie) Wickham and Ryan's father Steven Wickham, Patrick (Kate) Tobiasson, Richard and Emma Tobiasson, Victoria and Jacquelyn Hendrix, Anna Grace, Nathaniel and Catherine Lippert; 10 great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Peyton, Natalia, Jasper, Sawyer, Christen, Caleb, Mattie, Myiah and Fiona; one sister Linda (Tom) Hitchcock of Port Byron, N.Y.; one brother, Gary (Adrienne) Crandall of Seffner, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a grandson, Christopher Wickham, and four brothers, Ralph, LeRoy, Scott and William; and five sisters, Loretta Marcley, Leta Preston, Norma Hodge, Shirley Voutsinas and Karen Voutsinas.
  Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday May 23, 2016 from the LaRobardiere Funeral Home Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden N.Y. with Rev. Paul Mathis officiating. Interment will be made in McConnellsville Cemetery. Friends are invited and may call 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.   MRS. FAE M. LOHR, 32, of 116 Hardy Ave., died yesterday in Midtown Hospital after a long illness.
  Mrs. Lohr was a native of Homer and lived in Marcellus for 10 years before moving to Syracuse in 1953. She was employed as a switchboard repairman for Western Electric Co. in Syracuse. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
  She is survived by her husband, Francis Lohr; two daughters, Miss Ruth Autman of Mexico and Miss Cynthia Lohr of Syracuse; two sons, Patrick and Michael Lohr; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph C. Rozelle of Marcellus; three brothers, Ralph of Elbridge, Durwood of Bordino, and Wendell of New York and three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Allen of Elmira, Mrs. June Winks of Brewerton, and Mrs. Eunice Carioggia of Constantia.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Norris Funeral Home, Marcellus, the Rev. Stephen Kish officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners.

  CANASTOTA - Jill F. Yorton, 54, of 5738 Old County Road, Canastota, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Oneida Healthcare following a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
  She was born on June 26, 1962, in Hamilton, a daughter of Raymond and Beverly (Loomis) Frank.
  Jill has lived in the Peterboro area most of her life, graduating from Morrisville Eaton Central School. She later graduated from SUNY Cortland with a bachelor's degree.
  She worked as the secretary to the Dean of Liberal Arts at Morrisville State College for over 20 years, retiring in 2010, due to her health. Several years ago, Morrisville State College created the "Jill Yorton Award" which is a $250 award to be used for books, to one deserving Morrisville-Eaton High School graduate entering their freshman year at Morrisville State College as a liberal arts, journalism or social science major.
  Jill was an excellent typist, and has done typing for many people over the years. When she was younger, she enjoyed horseback riding, and in her later years enjoyed watching television game shows.
  She was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church.
  Surviving are: her companion, Arnold Johnson II; one son, Gregory B. Yorton and Michelle Mathis of Rome; one daughter, Hillary A. Yorton and her fiancé, Christopher Graham, of Munnsville; her mother, Beverly Frank of Peterboro; one brother and sister-in-law, R. Barry and Susan Frank of Peterboro; one sister and brother-in-law, Rae Anne and Karl Cook of Peterboro; two grandchildren, Greyson Graham and Arya Mathis; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jill was predeceased by her father, Raymond Frank.

   Mr, Schmidtmann is an Electronic technician, third class, serving in the U.S. Navy stationed in Norfolk, Va. Following a trip to Cape Cod, the newlyweds will reside in Norfolk.

  Nancy Klock June 1, 1997
  Mrs. Nancy A. Klock, 47, of Route 10, Ames, died Sunday at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home after a long illness.
  Born Dec. 3, 1949 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Clyde and Catherine Becker Saltsman. She graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1968 and was the former manager of McDonald's Restaurant in Palatine Bridge for eight years. She was a lifelong area resident.
  Mrs. Klock was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Stone Arabia and was also a member of the Ames Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
   She married John D. Klock on Oct. 11, 1969.
  In addition to her husband and father, survivors include a daughter, Michele A. Folmsbee of Sprakers; two brothers, Alton C. Saltsman of Raleigh, N.C., and Robert M. Saltsman of Stone Arabia; one grandson; two nieces, two nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
   Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with the Rev. Alvin Burnworth officiating. Burial will follow in Ames Cemetery.
  Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.   The Ames Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marriage Notes for Nancy Ann Saltsman and John Donald Klock

 - Wedding Announcement (Amsterdam Recorder, NY, Thursday, October 16, 1969)
  The marriage of Miss Nancy Ann Saltsman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Saltsman, Fort Plain RD 2, to John Donald Klock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Klock, Fort Plain RD 1, took place Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Canajoharie, the Rev. Theodore
Hammer officiating.
   The church was decorated with vases of white gladioli, carnations and pompons on the altar and white satin markers on the pews.
   Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Lovina Hinkle, Fonda, at the organ and the soloist was William Lamphere, Fort Plain.
   The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown with an Empire waist of Chantilly lace, skirt of chiffon organza trimmed with bands of lace dotted with sequins and a detachable chapel length train. A double crown of crystals and pearls held her veil of English illusion and she carried a cascade bouquet of white pompons and ivy.
   The bridal attendants were Miss Kathy Horwood, Canajoharie, cousin of the bride, maid of honor, the Misses Shirley and Marie Klock, Fort Plain, sisters of the bridegroom, bridesmaids, and Miss Deborah Saltsman, Fort Johnson, cousin of the bride, flower girl.
   The maid of honor wore a long gown of violet chiffon with matching headpiece and veil and carried a cascade bouquet of violet and white pompons while the bridesmaids were similarly dressed in orchid and white pompons. The flower girl wore a long white gown with lace bodice and linen skirt and a bow headpiece with a veil and carried a basket of white, orchid and violet pompons.
   Alton Saltsman, Fort Plain, brother of the bride, was best man and Robert Saltsman, also a brother of the bride, and Robert Downes, cousin of the bridegroom, both of Fort Plain, seerved as ushers.  The
ringbearer was William Klock, brother of the bridegroom.
   For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Saltsman chose a coat and dress ensemble of mint green linen with which she wore a mint green whimsey and a corsage of yellow pompons. The mother of the bridegroom wore an aqua crepe dress, matching hat and a corsage of white pompons.
   Following a reception in Klock Park, St. Johnsville, the couple left on a wedding trip to Pennsylvania after which they will reside at Fort Plain RD 1.
   The bride wore for going away a purple coat dress, black accessories and a white orchid corsage.
   Mrs. Klock is a graduate of Fort Plain Central School and was formerly employed by LaSalle Laboratories in Canajoharie.
   Mr. Klock, also a Fort Plain Central School graduate, is engaged in farming.

 - Wedding Announcement (Leader-Herlad, Gloversville - Johnstown, NY, Wednesday, October 23, 1974)
  Miss Virginia L. Hoffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hoffman of East Main Street Extension, Johnstown RD, and Robert M. Saltsman of Fort Plain RD 2, son of Clyde Saltsman of Sharon Springs and the late Catherine Saltsman, were united in marriage at 1 Saturday afternoon in the Salem United Methodist Church, Stone Arabia.
  Rev. Gerald Boyer, uncle of the bridegroom and pastor of the Cooperstown Methodist Church, performed the double ring ceremony in a setting of white pompons, vases of gladioli and family pews marked with white bows. Organist Mrs. Lovina Hinkle of Fonda played traditional wedding music and accompanied soloist Miss Phyllis Vedder of Glen who sang "Sunrise, Sunset," "More,""Til" and "The Lord's Prayer."
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full length gown of white angel mist draped over taffeta. It had a circle neckline adorned with scalloped venise lace and a ruffle of
Chantilly lace accented with clusters of pearls. The semi-Empire waist was accented with lace appliques and the gown had a fitted bodice, and long Chantilly lace sleeves ending with a deep ruffle. Her A-line skirt with deep ruffle at the hemline terminated in a cathedral length train. She wore a matching fingertip mantilla. She carried white miniature carnations and pink sweetheart roses in cascade style.
  The matron of honor, Mrs. Rosemary Denmark, sister-inlaw of the bride, of Johnstown, wore a full length regal purple and orchid gown of velvet and georgette. The velvet bodice with fitted lines was adorned with matching venise lace and long puffed sleeves. A lace cummerbund adroned the fitted waist.
  The georgette skirt had a deep ruffle at the hemline and she wore a velvet Dior bow and bouffant veil to match. She carried a colonial bouquet of miniature carnations, daisies and tinted orchids.
  The attendants, Mrs. Nancy Klock of Little Falls, sister of the bridegroom and Mrs. Cheryl Brothers of Fort Johnson wore gowns similar to the matron of honor's, and they carried similar bouquets tinted in green and pink, respectively, matching the colors of their gowns.
  Michele Klock of Little Falls, niece of the bridegroom, the flower girl, carried a flower basket of miniature carnations and daisies tinted blue. Her gown was similar to those worn by the attendants, only in blue.
   Alton Saltsman of Libertyyille, Ill., a brother of the bridegroom, was the best man. Ushers were John Klock of Little Falls, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Mark Saltsman of Fort Plain, cousin of the bridegroom.
  The mother of the bride wore a full-length aqua gown with a matching Dior bow. Her accessories were silver and she wore white cymbidium orchids. The stepmother of the bridegroom, Mrs. Doris Saltsman, wore an apricot colored full length gown with beige accessories and white cymbidium orchids.
  A wedding reception for 125 at Klock's Park in St. Johnsville followed the ceremony. Music was provided by the Black Velvets. Guests attended from Johnstown, Gloversville, Fort Plain, Sharon Springs, Libertyville, Ill., Saratoga, Middletown, Northville, Ames and Randall.
  For the wedding trip to the Pocono region of Pennsylvania, the bride chose a light blue dress with matching coat, brown accessories and a corsage of white miniature carnations and pink sweetheart roses.
  The attendants were presented gifts at the rehearsal party at the bridegroom's father's home in Sharon Springs Friday night.
  The bride was honored at a shower on Sept. 7 at the home of Mrs Denmark, 202 Burton Street. Hostesses were Mrs. Denmark, Mrs. Brothers and Mrs. Gerard Hunold. Another shower was given for the bride on Sept. 14 at the Salem United Methodist Church in Stone Arabia. Hostesses were Mrs. Eleanor Saltsman, Mrs. Laverna Saltsman, Mrs. Doris Saltsman, Mrs. Mildred Bollen and Mrs. Nancy Klock. A luncheon was given for the bride on Oct. 9 at the Stuft Shirt.
   The bride is a 1971 Johnstown High School graduate and is employed by Knox Gelatine Inc. in Johnstown. The bridegroom is a 1971 graduate of Fort Plain Central School and is a farm
worker.
  The couple will reside in Stone Arabia.
