  Memorial services for Jerome R. "Jerry" Lawler, age 44, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, 10801 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Painesville. The Rev. Peter McCurdy will be officiating.
  Born Sept. 9, 1965, in Painesville, he had lived in Painesville before moving to Leroy Township seven years ago.
  Mr. Lawler passed away Aug. 2, 2010, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights.
  He was a service technician for Velotta Auto Service in Kirtland.
  He enjoyed fishing and cars.
  Survivors are his wife, Robin (Gazdik) Lawler; son, Tyler; daughter, Shelby; mother, Caroline (Harold) (nee Phelps) Horton; sister, Susan Lawler McCullough; and dear cousins, Ray Phelps, John Phelps and Laura (Phelps) Dighan.
  He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Lawler.
  Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Painesville.
  Contributions may be made in care of the family.
  Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home in Painesville is entrusted with arrangements.

Marriage Notes for Kathy Lee Soposki and Anthony Eugene Hoke

 - Wedding Announcement (Courier-Standard-Enterprise, Canajoharie-Fort Plain-St. Johnsville, NY, October 16, 1973)
  Mias Kathy Lee Soposki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Metro Soposki, Van Hornesville, recently was united in marriage to Anthony Eugene Hoke, son of Mrs. Joan Hoke, Fort Plain, and Leland Hoke, Fort Plain RD 1, at the Van Hornesville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert O'Dell, pastor, officiating at the double ring ceremony.
 A recital of traditional wedding music was played by the organist Mrs. Irene Fassett, Springfield.
   The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a long white gown with full lace tiers, long straight sleeves, low neck, a Juliet cap and short veil of imported lace. She carried a bridal bouquet of pink sweetheart roses, white and lavender carnations and ivy.
  Her maid of honor was Miss Kathy Hoke, Fort Plain. Mrs. Joanne Smith, Fort Plain RD, and Miss Janell Edick, Forestport, were the bridesmaids.
  The flower girl was Wendy Mang, Richfield Springs.
   The maid of honor and flower girl wore gowns of lavender crepe with ruffled bottoms, lace necklines and cuffs. The bridesmaids chose lavender floral print with lace necklines and cuffs and ruffles at the bottom. They carried colonial style floral arrangements of pink and white carnations with lavender pompons.
  The best man was Arthur Smith. The guests being seated by Jay Smith, Jordanville, and Noel Lawrence, Fort Plain RD. The ringbearer was Kevin Smith, Richfield Springs.
  The mother of the bride wore a floor length dress with white trim and a lavender spray of roses. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in a short dress of black and white with white accessories and a corsage of white roses.
  Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Millstone Tavern, Richfield Springs.
  For her wedding trip, the bride chose a floral print dress and a corsage of pink roses and white and lavender carnations.
  The bride, a 1972 graduate of Owen D. Young Central School, is employed by Sata Transcription, Inc., Ilion.
  The bridegroom, also a 1972 graduate of Owen D. Young Central School, and is in the U.S. Navy stationed at Norfolk, Va.

  NEW HARTFORD - Kevin H. Petrie, 28, of Snowden Hill Rd. died on November 2, 1981 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
  He was born in Cooperstown. February 18, 1953, a son of Hollis and Elva Doremus Petrie. He graduated from Mt Markham High School and Oswego State College SUNY and later did post graduate work in Upper Division. Kevin was married to Gwendolyn (Wendy) Shibley in 1977. Mr. Petrie was a Social Studies Teacher at the New York Mills High School. He was a member of Christ Community Church Reformed and an active Church Elder.
  He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Kristen; a son, Timothy, his mother of Cedarville; a sister Mrs Harold (Careen) Talbot Jr., of Chittenango; also aunts; uncles and cousins.
  Funeral service Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Christ Community Church. 1414 Herkimer Rd., with the Rev. Robert N Peterson officiating. Interment in the Cedarville Cemetery.

  MOHAWK-Rodena F. "Dee" Sauer, age 67 of Church Street, Mohawk, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, March 18, 2011 in Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare after a long illness. She had the love and comfort of her family by her side at the time of her passing.
   She was born in Mohawk on June 15, 1943 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Spencer and Dallas (Petrie) Sauer and graduated with the Mohawk High School “Class of 1961” and was a lifelong Mohawk resident. Rodena was employed with the Polish Community Home in Herkimer for 17 years and was very active with coordinating events there, especially those involving children. She was of the Methodist Faith.
   For several years, Rodena served on the board of directors with the Herkimer Fairground Association and was very active with the Herkimer County Food Coalition. She enjoyed traveling with her best friend, Fran, playing bingo and most importantly spending time with her cherished family, especially her grandchildren. Rodena will be sorely missed by all the lives that she touched.
   Survivors include her devoted family; four children: Kimberly Kolar and husband Keith of Mohawk, Mark Hunt and wife Kim of North Dakota, Paul Hunt of Mohawk, and Renee Bayer and husband Randy of Ilion; a sister: Jean Barney of Whitesboro; a sister in law: Karen Sauer of Mohawk; her cherished grandchildren: Kelly, Ashley, Jimmy, Raisa, Jonathan and Shaun; three adored great grandchildren: Deanna, Dana and Alesha; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and John Sauer.
   The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. Rodena’s funeral will commence at 10 am on Wednesday, March 23rd from the chapel of the funeral home with Deacon Joseph DeLorenzo officiating. She will be laid to rest, later in the spring, in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.
   Please omit floral offerings. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Herkimer County Humane Society or to the Herkimer County Food Coalition; envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home. The family offers their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and entire staff at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, New Hartford, especially the Intensive Care Unit for their kindness and compassion.

 - Wedding Announcement (Evening Telegram, Herkimer, NY, Monday, July 3, 1961)
  MOHAWK—In a church decorated with summer flowers. Miss Rodena Frances Sauer and Leslie Edward Hunt were married in a single ring ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Harry Kemp, pastor, in Paines Hollw Methodist Church.
  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Sauer, Mohawk RD 1, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hunt. Sr., Mohawk RD 1.
  Traditional wedding music was played by Miss Mildred Mehring, pianist.
  The bride, escorted by her father, chose a gown of ivory brocade satin with a scoop neckline, long sleeves ending in bridal points, and a floor-length bouffant skirt. Her finger-tip veil of illusion was edged with Chantilly lace and fell from a crown of pearls and iridescent sequins. She carried a bouqet of white carnations and mums with white satin streamers.
   Miss Jean Sauers, sister of the bride, maid of honor, wore a yellow silk organza ballerina- length dress and carrid a colonial bouquet of yellow mums.
  Miss Jean Hunt, sister bridegroom, bridesmaids, were attired in pale green ballerina-length gowns of taffeta and nylon. They also carried colonial bouquets of yellow mums.
   Metro Soposki. Van Hornesville, was the best man, and John Sauer, brother, of the bride, and William Hunt, Jr., brother of the bridegroom, were the ushers.
  Following the ceremony, a reception was held on the lawn of the bride’s parents' home.
  The new matron graduated last week from the Mohawk Central School. The bridegroom attended Mohawk schools and is affiliated with the Palatine Dye Co., St. Johnsville.
  Pre-nuptials were given by Mrs. Helen Smith and Mrs. Betty Smith.
  Out-of-town guests were from Cleveland, Ohio., Buffalo, and Valley towns.

  Ernest M. Gay
  RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Ernest "Ernie" M. Gay, 73, of Dugan Road, Richfield Springs, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at St. Elizabeths Medical Center.
  Survivors include his wife, Doris; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and her husband, Don Urtz, of Richfield Springs and Karen and her husband, Bill Schorer, of Millers Mills; one son, David Gay of Herkimer; four grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Winifred Dunham; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and several very close friends.
  He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Lloyd; sister, Verna Pickersgill; and one brother-in-law, Richard Dunham.
  Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the Richfield Springs Bible Church, 17 Church St., with the Rev. Roger Smith officiating. Calling hours will be held Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion.
  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered in Ernie's name to the Cedarville Ambulance Corps or the Richfield Springs Bible Church. Donation envelopes are available at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion.
