Richard GUNNIP dies at 56; deputy sheriff for 17 years
Services for Richard J. Gunnip, 56, of 110 Herriman St., who died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital, will be at 8:15 a.m. Thursday at John C. Tindall Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. today (Oct. 27) and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Mr. Gunnip was a life resident of Syracuse. He retired in 1986 after 17 years as a deputy with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department. Mr. Gunnip was a communicant of St. Lucy's Church and a member of the National Rifle Association. An Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Gunnip was a member of the Tipperary Hill Post 1361, American Legion. Surviving are two sons, Timothy and Ricky, both of Syracuse; two daughters, Doris BOWLES and Virginia HOOSOCK, both of Syracuse; six brothers, Robert of North Syracuse, Francis of Jordan and Charles Gunnip of Cazenovia, Gerald Gunnip and John Horrigan, both of Chittenango [NY] and William Gunnip of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Barbara Jean McDERMOTT of Chittenango, Dorothy PERRY of Columbus, Ohio, and Mary FREDETTE of Syracuse; and six grandchildren.

Mohawk, N.Y. — Peter John Moschetto, Sr., age 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2012, in his home, after an extended illness. He had his loving family at his side.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1946, in Ilion, son of the late William and Marguerite Stickles Moschetto. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Herkimer High School.
Mr. Moschetto was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He enlisted on Aug. 31, 1965; he served in the infantry and was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 1960; the Vietnam Service Medal; the National Defense Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was honorably discharged on May 31, 1968, attaining the rank of private first class.
He and his wife, the former Linda Conroy, have resided in Mohawk since 1980 coming from Herkimer.
Pete had a strong love for the outdoors. In his leisure time, he enjoyed both hunting and fishing. To all who knew him, he was a proud man. He was especially proud of his military service and the country that he served. To his family, he was always there for them in good times or bad; he was the strength that bonded them together. He will be truly missed.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Linda; one son, Peter Moschetto, Jr. and his wife, Karli, of East Granby, Conn.; four daughters, Cindy Cirillo and her husband, Peter, of East Herkimer, Melissa Moschetto, of Mohawk, Jennifer Lord, of Richfield Springs, and Christina Bawolak and her husband, William, of Richfield Springs; a sister, Elizabeth Bender and her husband, Tony, of Central Bridge; and eleven cherished grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Moschetto, in 1993.
Calling hours for Mr. Moschetto will be on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. Funeral service will take place on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with the Reverend Harry Teuchert officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mohawk Cemetery II, Vickerman Hill Road,town of German Flats.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the William Michael Moschetto Scholarship Fund, c/o First Source Federal Credit Union, 510 West State Street, Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Janice L. (Schuyler) Johnson, age 76, of Ladysmith, WI died Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. She was born on September 29th, 1941 at Utica, New York & during her teen years, the family moved to the Chetek area. On October 20th, 1990, she was married to John Johnson at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, son: Jeff Turner, granddaughter: Robin Robertson, great grandson: Isaac Parker, brother: Earl Schuyler & daughter-in-law: Deb Turner. She is survived by her husband: John, son: John Turner, Jr., daughters: Judy (Tom) Ebler, Jackie Turner & Tracy Turner, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sisters: Sharon (Frank) Bauer & Sally Schuyler, sister-in-law: Terry Schuyler, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Funeral Services will be (were) held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26th at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church in the Town of Maple Grove, rural Dallas, with Rev. Heather Kistner officiating & interment following in the Otter Creek Cemetery in the Town of Otter Creek, rural Wheeler, WI. John H. Turner, Sr., 73 of Chetek passed away at his residence Wednesday, June 18, 2014 with his loving family by his side. John was born October 22, 1940 in Columbus Junction, Iowa the son of Esther (Swedensky) and William Turner.
September 8, 1978 John married Mary L. Davis in Barron, WI. John was a member of the Eagles Club in Muscatine, Iowa. He loved to hunt, fish and watch western movies. He also enjoyed his quality time with the grandchildren and his family while having cook-outs and visiting the casino to play the slot machines.
John is survived by his beloved wife Mary, children; John (Debbie) Turner of Wilson, Judy (Tom) Ebler of Chetek, Jackie Robinson of Ladysmith, Jack Davis of Chetek, Louise (Jerome) Call of Ladysmith, Earl (Missy) Turner of Muscatine, Iowa. Further survived by 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, one sister, Rose Bishop and one brother George Turner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeff Turner, granddaughter, Robin Robinson, great-grandson, Isaac Parker, brother, Charlie Turner, sisters, Dolly Thorton, Frances Wilson and Alice Pidgeon.
A Memorial Service will be held at Judy Ebler's home at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 28, 2014. 2274 2 3/4 Avenue, Chetek, WI.

Mrs. Pauline J. Sereday, 39, of Argyle Road, Town of Frankfort, on Saturday, December 31, 1977.
She was bom July 29, 1938 in Utica a daughter of Leonard Schuyler and the late Pauline Weber Schuyler. Pauline graduated from Proctor High School and was married to Donald A Sereday in Utica on Feburary 2, 1957.
For ten years she was employed ae a secretary in the underwriting Dept. of the Utical Mutual Insurance Co. She was a member of West Schuyler Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sereday is survived by her husband and father, one daughter, Pauline Sereday and one brother, Wayne Schuyler of Rome, N.Y.
Funeral service on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the John S Freidel Funeral Homes Inc. Court at York Sts. with the Rev. Paul Creco officiating. Burial in the spring in Mt. Morris Cemetery, Canastota, N.Y. Calling hours at the funeral home Sunday 7-9 and Monday 2-4 and 7-9.

FRANKFORT—Miss Pauline Schuyler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. Leonard Schuyler, Ferguson Rd., and Donald Sereday, Utica, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Sereday, Frankfort, were married at 11 a. m. Feb. 2 at the home of the bride’s parents by the Rev. Glenn H. Poppleton of the West Frankfort Church.
The bride wore white satin, floor-length, with a fingertip veil caught to a scalloped crown of sequins and rhinestones, and carried white gladioli and liliesof-the-valley. Her maid of honor, Miss June Rogers, Frankfort, wore a ballerina-length gown of white lace with matching hat and Carried white gladioli.
The Misses Marion Schuyler, Clayville, Dorothy Newman, Utica, and Betty Johnston, Frankfort, were bridesmaids and Miss Debert Newman, Utica, flower girl. Willard Schuyler, brother of the bride, served as best man and Frank Johnson, Frankfort, and Robert Newman Utica, ushered.
An afternoon reception was held at Club Stanek. The couple is living in Utica.

David E. Shibley, Sr., age 70, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away after a long battle with cancer on February 6, 2013, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Utica, New York on September 19, 1942, to John and Mary (Eilers) Shibley. David graduated from the Utica Free Academy and joined the United States Air Force to follow his childhood passion for aircraft. He retired from the AirForce in 1985, after 24 years but could not leave his passion behind. He decided to continue his craft with the Civil Service for another 23 years. He gave his country 47 years of service before he decided to relax and enjoy his retirement.
David was married to E. Jean Johnston on February 8, 1964 to start his family. They were married for 49 years. He was devoted to his craft, his wife and his family. He was passionate about every aspect of his life and was a wonderful husband and father.
He was survived by his mother, Mary Shibley of Utica, New York; one brother, John H. Shibley; one sister, Peggy Ayers; his wife, Jean Shibley of the home; two sons, David Shibley Jr. and wife, Diane of Napa, Ca. and Steven Shibley of Altus; two daughters, Teresa Shibley of Dunsmuir, Ca and Karen Drone and husband Dan of Roanoak, TX; 8 grandchildren, Tara Shibley, Mike Shibley, Shane Shibley, Kalen Shibley, Ryan Drone, Corbin Drove, Kerigan Drone and Daylin Jackson; and 5 great-grandchildren, Carrie White, Ethan Crawford, Jason Shibley, Christopher Shibley and Clayton Shibley. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, other family and friends. David was preceded in death by his father, John "Jack" Shibley; one sister, Theresa Marie Shibley; and one brother, Nicholas Shibley. Services have been scheduled for 12:00 noon on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Joseph Sundar Pudota officiating. Ruth A. Johnston, 71, of Bronner Road, Little Falls, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, December 20, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, with her loving family by her side.
She was born on February 28, 1945 in Herkimer, New York, a daughter of the late, Ivory and Beulah (Staring) Hutchins. Ruth grew up on her family farm on Burrell Road, Little Falls, New York. She attended Little Falls High School and graduated with the Class of 1964.
On November 27, 1965, Ruth was united in marriage to Carl P. Johnston, Jr. at the Dolgeville United Methodist Church, Dolgeville, New York. The couple shared a blessed union of 51 years where they shared a home and raised their son.
Ruth was formerly employed in housekeeping at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion, New York. She worked for 35 plus years until her retirement in 2010.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She loved her animals, farming and gardening. When she was younger, she enjoyed riding on her father's Old Ford Tractor. Most recently, her husband, Carl bought her a Ford tractor, much like that of when she was little, and Ruth loved to rake hay with it. She also liked four wheelers and all the wild animals that lived on their land. Her most precious time was that spent with her husband and son.
She is survived by her cherished husband, Carl P. Johnston, Jr; her loving son, Carl P. Johnston, III of Little Falls, N.Y. ; her beloved sister, Evelyn Knoblauch of Lockport, New York; Evelyn’s Children and Grandchildren, Phyllis (Matt) O'Byrne, Erin, Shane, Lois (Pat) McGuinness, Ashley, Ricky Schlitzer, Ann (Tom) Fonzi, Jeffrey, Joel Schlitzer, many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.
Ruth was predeceased by two infant daughters, Carla and Jennifer.
Interment will take place in the Spring of 2017, in Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham's Mills, New York, where she will be laid to rest next to her infant daughters.

The Rev. William O. Thomas, pastor, officiated at the double ring ceremony. Organist, Mrs. Gordon Darling, accompanied Mrs. Stuart Shulenburg, soloist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Miss Evelyn Hutchins, of Lockport, as maid of honor. Miss Joan Hollick and Miss Cheryl Millen, both of Little Falls, were bridesmaids.
Best man was LeRoy Johnston, Frankfort, brother of the bridegroom. Leonard Johnston, Ilion, another brother and Richard Hall, of Frankfort, ushered.
A reception at the home of the bride’s parents followed.
The bridegroom is serving with the United States Army in Massachusetts.
