31346. Shirley Belle Rightmeier

 - GFG - I
 - Obituary (Find A Grave / The Idaho Statesman, Thursday, June 28, 2012))
On Monday, June 25th, surrounded by her three children, our loving mother, Shirley B. Rightmeier Scott passed through the veil where many waited to greet her on the other side.
She was born March 7, 1928 in Mankato, Kansas to Leonard and Emily Ferguson-Rightmeier. She was the oldest of four children.
Being a native of Kansas, she grew up in Belleville, where she enjoyed music and playing the organ. She participated in many concerts and played for the glee club choir and performed duets with her sister. When she exhausted all the piano and organ teachers in Belleville, she took summer courses for the organ at Kansas State College. She loved to play the organ on chimes at Christmas because they could be heard all throughout the town square.
Yet she called herself a tomboy. She was a star forward on the basketball team in high school and a cheerleader. She also was a Red Cross swimming instructor at the Belleville city swimming pool during the summer for several years.
She met her lifelong love in high school and on August 31, 1947, a year after graduating, she married Clyde A. Scott in the Belleville Presbyterian Church. They moved from Belleville to Hays to Pratt, Kansas to Moscow to Lewiston to Parma, Idaho and then on to Boise where she has lived ever since.
She played the organ for the Presbyterian Church in almost every city she lived! She so enjoyed the big pipe organs that she could pull out all the stops and fill the sanctuary with music! She served many years as organist for both the Southminster Presbyterian Church on Overland, and Coventry Presbyterian Church on Five Mile while working and raising her three children.
Her three children survive her: David, Dan (Marti) Scott, and Sherry Scheets, all of Boise; nine grandchildren: Jared (Lisa), Stephen, and Patrick (Mary Catherine) Scott; Jeremy LaFleur, Amber LaFleur, Andrew Scheets, and Chelsea (Casey) Sparling, all of Boise, Richard (Rebecca) Scott, of Ashburn, VA, and Nichole (Aaron) Adams, of Moscow; a sister, Marylou (Bob) Feasel, of Ontario, OR; a niece and three nephews; and 11 great-grandchildren: Kiana, Kaden, Grant, Caleb, Carter, Zack, Jayden-Lynn, Bennett, Henry, Cooper and Savannah.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; her brother, Larry; her sister, Mona Lynne; a grandson, Matthew Scott; and a great-grandson, Kaleb LaFleur.
We would like to thank all those who helped care for Mom at Boise Health & Rehab over these past many years. Your kind and loving service is so deeply appreciated.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012 at the LDS Chapel located at 3700 S. Maple Grove in Boise. A viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.

 - Obituary (Find A Grave)
  Larry Franzen  April 5, 1956 – February 13, 2012
Surrounded by family and friends at his home in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Larry Franzen, 55, died of lung graft failure on Feb. 13, 2012.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Izaak Walton League Lodge, nestled along the Wabash Trace Nature Trail that Larry, an avid bicyclist, loved. Friends gathered from 1:30 to 4 p.m. to share Larry stories.
A memorial service was held on February 25 in Jacksonville Beach, FL, where Larry's family and friends, including members of his Mayo Clinic "transplant family", said farewell.
A memorial was also held on March 3 in Kansas City, MO, where many of Larry's friends live.
He had gone through a double-lung transplant twice and had about four years more than he would have thanks to scientific and medical brilliance, an incredible support system, and sheer will to live.
Larry left an indelible mark on all who knew him. More people are organ donors because of him. Some vowed to care better for their lungs because of him, and many who were touched by his courage can face and handle more than they thought they could because of Larry.
On his Facebook page, he listed his political views as "the voice of reason." Indeed he was. He was a voracious researcher, a skill he applied in a variety of professions, from an early career at Central Surveys to the banking industry, including 10 years at Commerce Bank, which took him to Kansas City and St. Louis. He also worked for Raddon Financial Group from 1997 to 2008, when the diagnosis of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in 2008 forced an early retirement.
He died the way he lived, gracefully, courageously and with a last laugh. In the obituary information he'd provided before his death, Larry wrote of himself in the third person, "He was a member of Mensa, the high IQ society, until he decided it wasn't very smart to pay someone $25 a year to tell you that you are smart."
A gifted writer, he kept his friends and family up-to-date about the insidious twists of his disease on Care Pages, presenting his prognosis matter-of-factly and with an optimism that he almost certainly didn't always feel, but offered as solace to those who read it so their own tears would not spill for him just yet. Self-pity was not in his repertory for life.
In his final years, he showed the rest of us how to live, how to fight death with everything we've got, and how to do it with smiles on our faces. "If there is any fun to be had going through this process, I am going to find it," he once wrote.
The son of Glenn and Martha (Whigham) Franzen, Larry was born April 5, 1956 at Hand Community Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa. He was a 1974 graduate of Shenandoah High School, earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO in 1983, and completed postgraduate work in performance management at Leicester University, Leicester, England.
On April 16, 1994, he married Heather Smith in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. They divorced in 2002, but Heather remained true, trusted and loyal friend.
On Dec. 4, 2010, he married Stephanie Coke in Key West, Florida. Their love grew stronger through his two surgeries, and she put her life on hold to focus her attention on caring for Larry to the very end of his life. She was a loving, attentive and devoted wife.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Coke-Franzen of Hollywood, FL; his brother Jeff (Michelle) of Waverly, IA, and nieces Jessica of Evanston, IL, and Bethany of Cedar Falls, IA; his brother Greg (Janet), nephew Max and niece Emma of Kansas City, MO; and his brother Keith (Meg) and nieces Glenn and Mira of Northbrook, IL; and a large, eclectic group of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father in December 1999 and his mother in November 2008.
Donations are suggested to the Walter Hill Foundation at Gabriel House of Care in Jacksonville, Fla., or the Wabash Trace Nature Trail in Shenandoah, Iowa.
