  Donald J. Capece
  Donald J. Capece, 77, of Highland Terrace, Fort Plain, died Saturday afternoon, February 17, at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.
  He was born in St. Johnsville, New York on September 21, 1929, the son of Patsy Capece and Anna Gamula Capece. He attended St. Johnsville schools.
   Mr. Capece worked most recently at Torrington Construction Company in Troy, N.Y. Previously to that, he worked at Green Island Construction Company, Cherry Burrow Company and at Beech-Nut Company. He was very proud to have been the first chef at the former Capece's Restaurant in St. Johnsville.
  Formerly of Lassellsville, Mr. Capece resided in Fort Plain for the last seven years.
   He served in the United States Army during World War II with the rank of Private First Class.
  Mr. Capece was a member of B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge No. 2621 of Canajoharie/Fort Plain and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 853 of Canajoharie. He was a past member of the Concordia Club and was on the club's entertainment committee.
   On August 8, 1953 he was married to Shirley Monk at his parents' home in Lassellsville.
   He was predeceased by his brothers, Dominick and Louis R. Capece; and his sister, Philomena Moroetti.
   Survivors include his wife, Shirley Capece of Fort Plain; daughters, LeighAnna and her husband David Smith of Fort Plain, N.Y. and Loleita Eschler of Mayfield, N.Y.; brother, Joseph Capece of Little Falls, N.Y. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He had 5 grandchildren, Amanda Mormile, Kaci Clemons, Zachary and Kayla Eschler and Alexis Smith; and 3 great-grandchildren, Keagan Clemons, Owen and Evan Mormile; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
   A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Canajoharie/Fort Plain B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge No. 2621 in Nelliston, New York with Scott Baldwin officiating.
  Arrangements have been entrusted to Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain.
   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, N.Y. or Fort Plain Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 374, Fort Plain, N.Y. 13339.

  Mr. Frank J. Young, age 75, of County Highway 309, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
   He was born December 18, 1931 in the town of Johnstown, the son of the late Frank and Sarah Grant Young. Affectionately known as the "Mayor of Bleecker," Frank was the owner and operator of Frank Young Used Cars and Parts for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Bleecker Fish and Game Club and an honorary member of the Meco Fire Department. He was a former member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge and Fulton County Brothers of the Brush. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, and fishing at Black Lake.
   Frank is survived by his wife, Marlene E. Woodcock Young; also by three children, Teresa L. Jones (Fred) of Nelliston, Mark A. Young Sr. (Brenda) of Bleecker and Cinda J. Spraker (Edward) of Bleecker; a brother, Clayton Young of Bleecker; a sister, Leona Ricci of Gloversville; eight grandchildren, Jolene Dunn (Jeffrey), Mark Young Jr., Edward Spraker III, Amber Jones, Alisha Young, Richard Young (Jenn), James Young (Magon) and Joanna Christman (John); four great-grandchildren, Cody Young, James Young Jr., Brittney Young and Lyndsay Dawson; his pet dog, Zeus; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Young and Frank Young Jr.; and several brothers and sisters.
   It was Frank's request that there be no calling hours or services. A Celebration of His Life will take place at a future date to be announced. Arrangements are by Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078; or to the Albany Medical Center Foundation, 43 New Scotland Ave; Albany, NY 12208.

  A double wedding took place at the parsonage of the Bleecker Street Church of Christ at 8 Saturday night when Marlene Woodcock of 20 Western Boulevard was married to Frank J, Young of Bleecker Stage, and Miss Wlnnifred Buyce waa wed to Walter A. Paul of RD. Rev Lawrence Haddaway performed the ceremonies.
  Mrs. Young wore a charcoal and pink suit and orchid corsage and Mrs. Paul a mauve and pink suit with gray accessories and an orchid corsage.
  The newlywcds left on a trip to Niagara Falls.
  The Youngs will reside with the bridegrooms parents and the Pauls at 10 Lincoln Street.

  BLEECKER - Allen Woodcock Sr., 36, of Lily Lake Road, died at 8 last night at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, where he was a patient six weeks. He had been in ill health since October.
  He was born July 9, 1939, at Gloversville, the son of Raymond and Violet Woodcock. He resided most of his life in this area attending Gloversville schools. He served a brief tour of duty with the Army.
  Mr. Woodcock was employed by various firms in the Glove Cities before his illness. He last was employed by Frank Young's used auto parts business at Bleecker.
  He married the former Susan Baird, who survives, in 1964. Other survivors include three sons, Allen Woodcock Jr., Steven Woodcock and Michael Woodcock, all at home. Three sisters, Mrs. Marlene Young, Mrs. Marilyn Pettit and Mrs Loretta Cook, all of Bleecker; three half sisters, Mrs. Irene Chamberlain of Meco, Mrs. Helen Romaine and Mrs. Betty Van Skiver, both of Gloversville; one half brother, Clarence Richards of Gloversville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
 - Funeral Announcement (Leader-Herlad, Gloversville - Johnstown, NY, Saturday, February 28, 1976)
  A service for Allen Woodcock Sr. was held at 11 this morning at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home with Rev. Henry K. Johnson, pastor of St. James Lutheran Church, officiating.
  Bearers were Richard Baird, Michael Baird, Thomas Baird, Clarence Richards Jr., Frank Van Skiver and Clayton Young.
   Members of the Moose Lodge conducted a ritual last night at the funeral home.
  The body was placed in the Fern Dale Cemetery vault to await spring burial.

  Miss Barbara J. Sartin, daughter of Mrs. Raymond Sartin Sr. of 22 Cottage Street and the late Mr. Sartin, was united in marriage to Fred A. Rulison of the Marine Corps, son of Mrs. Elna Rulison of 3 Van Wyck Street and Victor Rulison of 4034 West Clinton Street, Johnstown, at a ceremony at 2 Saturday afternoon at the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Rev. Ronald W. Hawkins, pastor, officiated at the double ring ceremony.
  The altar was decorated with white carnations and pompons. Mrs. Carolyn Maxon, organist, played, "The Wedding Prayer" and "I Love Your Truly."
  The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Raymond Sartin Jr. of Gloversville.
  Her Chantilly lace and silk organza gown, worn over taffeta, was designed with a scalloped neckline, fitted bodice, long, pointed sleves with lace applique trim at the points. The gown had a bouffant skirt with triple tiers at the front hemline and an all-tiered back ending in a chapel-length train. A matching bow headpiece held her tiered bouffant veil of English illusion. She carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations.
  Miss Shirley Sartin of Gloversville was maid of honor for her sister in a lemon peel chiffon sheath gown designed with an Empire waist and a peau de sole watteau back. She wore a matching floral cluster headpiece with veiling and carried a cascade bouquet of yellow carnations.
  Theodore Weidermann of Gloversville, half-brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride's brother, Raymond, and the best man served as ushers.
  The mother of the bride wore a fiesta-colored chantilly lace sheath dress with puffed sleeves and a cranberry-colored whimsey and accessories. The mother of the bridegroom wore a fiesta sheath dress reembroidered with Alencon lace with matching scalloped edging at the length sleeves. She wore a silver-colored whimsey and accessories. Both wore corsages of yellow roses.
  A reception for 50 was held after the ceremony at the Magic Lantern Restaurant, 160 West Fulton Street, decorated in pink and white. Guests were from Gloversville, Johnstown, Meco, Plattsburgh, Dolgeville and Ansterdam.
  The bride attended Gloversville High School. She is employed as a nurses aide at
Hime's Care Center. The bridegroom attended Johnstown High School and is serving in the Marines, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif. The bride will reside at 235 South Main Street.

  Miss Sandra Gardner of Johnstown, sister of the bridegroom, was maid of honor.  Jack Rulison of Gloversville, brother of the bride, was best man.
  A reception was held at the Magic Lantern after the ceremony.
  The bride is employed at the Johnstown Knitting Mill. The bridegroom has been employed at the Fulton County Embossing Company in Johnstown. The couple is residing at 404 West Clinton Street, Johnstown.

  The death Saturday morning of Robert J. Gardner-Jr., 3 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Gardner Sr., 404 West Clinton Street, has been attributed to virus pneumonia.
   George L. Tripp doctor of  chiropractic, a Fulton County coroner, this morning reported the cause of death as determined by an autopsy.
  The infant was pronounced dead on arriva about 8 Saturday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after being rushed ther by ambulance  from his home.
  He was born at Littauer Hospital July 10.
  Survivors besides his parents, are the maternal grandparents, Victor Rulison of Johnstown and Mrs. Elna Rulison of Gloversville; paternal grandparents, John H. Gardner of Johnstown and Mrs. Blanche Gardner of Schenectady; paternal greatgrandmother, Mrs. Emma Rachmyre of Johnstown; aunts, uncles and cousins.
  A service was held at 11 this morning at the A. G. Cole Funeral Home with Rev. Walter S. Reasoner of Gloversville, a retired Methodist minister, officiating.
  Burial was In Fern Dale Cemetery.

  JOHNSTOWN — Jack Daniel Rulison, age 3 months, of 25 S. William St. was found dead about 9 a.m. yesterday at 322 W. Montgomery St.
  The infant and his mother, Sally Rulison, were reportedly visiting friends at that address. The Johnstown Police Department was summoned as was the Johnstown Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Death was reportedly caused by asphyxiation.
  Survivors besides his mother, are his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elna Rulison of Gloversville; his maternal grandfather, Victor Rulison of Johnstown; aunts, uncles and cousins.
  A prayer service will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Cole Funeral Home. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Burial will be at a later date in Ferndale Cemetery.

  Fred A. Rulison, age 72, of Hagaman, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at River Ridge Living Center, Amsterdam after a long illness.
  He was born in Amsterdam, a son of the late Arthur M. Rulison and Gertrude Fennell Rulison.
  Mr. Rulison received his education in Gloversville and then Lowell Tech, studying Leather Technology.
  Fred worked in the family leather tanning business, F. Rulison & Sons with his grandfather and father, and developed a resort property in Speculator. Upon his father’s death, he purchased the tannery and ran it. After it was closed Fred’s entrepreneurial spirit branched out and he put together many business land development deals from the local area to Maine and Panama.
  He was a member of the A.O.P.A. and loved to play cards in his spare time.
  Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ruehle Rulison, whom he married in 1954; three daughters, Patricia Lynn Boyst of Michigan, Valerie Ann Hamilton of Mahopac, Putnam Co., Lisa Lee Sartin of Greenfield, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Arthur J. Rulison of Montana, and John P. Rulison of Johnstown; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
  A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. from the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams officiating
  Friends and family may call on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
  Spring interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

  The double ring ceremony was performed by Jack R. Farquhar, Town Justice of Ephratah, at his home on Mud Road. Miss Lucy Christman of Ephratah, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor.
  Warren Rulison Jr. of Fultonville, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.
  Immediately after the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.
  The bride is a 1970 graduate of Johnstown High School and attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College. The bridegroom attended Estee Junior High School in Gloversville.
  The couple will reside temporarily at the home of the bride's parents.

  Miss Diane Lee Kraft, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Kraft, Church Street, and David E. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry C. Smith, Center Street, were married last Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Henry K. Johnson.
  Wedding music was played by the organist, Mrs. Harold Settle, and the soloists were Mrs. William Rider and Herbert Kraft, an uncle of the bride.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a full-length gown of peau de soie with fitted bodice of chantilly lace that featured a scalloped neckline. The long sleeves ended in bridal points at the wrists. A detachable chapel length train of peau de soie was attached to the straight skirt. Her matching pi ll box held a veil of silk illusion and she carried a cascade bouquet of yellow daisies.
  Miss Lynda Herdman, Arlington, Va., was the maid of honor, and the bridesmaids were Miss Margaret LaCoppola and Miss Pamela Smith, a sister of the bridegroom. Their full length gowns were of jade chiffon over jonquil taffeta, with empire waistline and elbow length sleeves, trimmed with yellow flowers. Their nylon veils were held by a bow of jade chiffon over jonquil taffeta.
  Donald Hoffman, St Johnsville, was the best man and the ushers were Gary Swartz, and George Haney, Rockville, Md., brother-in-law of the bridegroom.
  The bride's mother wore a pink crepe dress with matching accessories and an orchid corsage. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a gown of aqua color with matching accessories and an orchid corsage.
  Following the ceremony, a reception attended by 200 was held at the Benefit Club at Klock Park.
  The bride was graduated from St Johnsville Central School, class of 1963, and the Morrisville State Agricultural and Technical College. She is employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Albany. The bridegroom was graduated in 1961 from St Johnsville Central School and Utica College. He is employed by Univac in Utica,
   Upon their return from a wedding trip to the New England states, they will reside in Utica.
