  ST JOHNSVILLE Miss Margaret Demetria Kilts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert F. Kilts, Stone Arabia, and Kermit Harold Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Weaver, were united in marriage on Thursday, April 3, at 8 in the Trinity Lutheral Church in Stone Arabia. Rev. Stanley Haverly, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony. The church was decorated with Easter flowers.
  The bride wore a gown of pale blue crepe, with navy accessories. She carried a Colonil bouquet of white carnations and sweet peas.
  Matron of honor was Mrs. Francis S. Mitchel of Arlington, Va., sister of the bride. She also wore blue crepe and carried a Colonial bouquet of yellow daffodils. LaVerne E. Weaver, brothe of the bridegroom, was the best man.
  Mrs. Adin Van Wie of Canajoharie played the traditional wedding marches. The service in the church was followed by a reception at the home of the bride's parents.
  The newlyweds left for a trip to Niagara Falls. Mrs Weaver's going-away outfit was a black suit with matching accessories. Her corsage was of sweet peas.
  The bride's mother wore a dress of grey crepe, with as corsage of pink roses and sweet peas, and the mother of the bridegroom chose a grey crepe gown, with black accessories, and her corsage was of pink roses and sweet peas.
     The young couple will reside in St. Johnsville.

  Mrs. Gail L. (Lauer) Polus, age 67, a lifelong Mohawk Valley resident, joined her husband in Heaven on Friday morning, October 14, 2016. She passed peacefully in the privacy and comfort of her home, with the love and support of her family by her bedside.
  Born on June 18, 1949, Gail was the daughter of the late Arthur and Pauline (Ennis) Lauer. She was raised and educated in Ilion, graduating from Ilion High School. On November 26, 1966, Gail was wed to Mr. Anthony Peter Polus, II, and the two shared in a blessed union of almost 47 years, until Peter’s passing on April 22, 2014. This year would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary, and their children take great comfort and joy in the fact that Peter and Gail will be reunited for that occasion, together once again.
  Gail was steadfast and dedicated to her husband, who was the founder of Fiberdyne Labs in Frankfort, a company which she spent many years with as the Human Resource Manager. Gail was previously employed by Herkimer County Board of Elections; In her younger years, Gail generously served in the snack bar and Hospital Guild of the former Herkimer Hospital and was an avid supporter of the Herkimer County Humane Society to this day. She was a longtime parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church in Ilion, where she also taught Sunday school. Peter and Gail together, as long time Republican supporters, established the Ambassador Club for the Herkimer County Republican Party.
  Through all of her endeavors, Gail never forgot the importance of family, and her number one priority was always her children and grandchildren. She loved any time spent with them, and was especially fond of travelling to Key West, Florida. She will be dearly missed by those that she leaves behind.
  Gail is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony Peter, III and Shaula Polus, and Chad and Jennifer Polus, her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Mark Mosny; all of Herkimer; and her grandchildren, Zachary Zaborek, Maxwell Polus, Zachary Polus, Nathaniel Polus, Abigail Polus, Jillian Polus, Alexis Swieton, Justin Swieton, Meara Mosny and Peter Mosny. She also leaves her sister, Gwen Conroy and Bill Gahan of Ilion; her in-laws, James and Noreen Polus and Dean and Carole Ouderkirk; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; a special friend, Mary Bass, and her beloved puppies, Sami and Mandy.
  She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Bella Polus Mosny, and her sister-in-law, Rosemarie Ouderkirk, and nephew Kelly Ouderkirk.


Anthony Peter Paulus II

  Anthony Peter Polus, II, 70, a long time Herkimer resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, with his loving family by his side.
  Born in Syracuse, NY on January 15, 1944, Peter was the son of the late Anthony Peter and Mary (Branck) Polus. He was a graduate of Herkimer High School and furthered his education by attending Syracuse University and graduating with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. On November 26, 1966, Peter was united in marriage to the former Gail Lauer with whom he shared a wonderful and loving relationship filled with great affection and admiration.
  Peter began his working career with General Electric in Shemya, Alaska. Later in his 50 year career he was the founder of ADS of Mohawk, Petroleum Systems and was a Manufacturer Representative for Peter Polus Company (PPC). Peter's ambitions were to be a manufacturer and keep his children close to him by providing employment for each of them and in 1992 he founded Fiberdyne Labs of Frankfort. He currently held the position of Chairman of the Board for Fiberdyne Labs. The patriarch of his family, Peter loved and protected his family unconditionally and anytime he was surrounded by his family was precious time.
  During his childhood years he loved to speed skate and took part in skating competitions and barrel jumping on ABC's Wide World of Sports and was a member of the AAU Swimming Team. He loved to travel, especially to Key West with his wife and enjoyed playing tennis and chess, practicing Systema and Aikido and skiing with his grandchildren. Peter also had a gift for writing and was the author of 2 books, The Legend of Beardslee Castle and Gage Carson. He was very fond of animals and was a huge supporter of the Humane Society. A large Republican supporter, he established the Ambassador Club for the Republican Party for Herkimer County and at one time held the position of Trustee for the Village of Herkimer. He was also Town Judge for the Town of Herkimer for 16 years. Peter was the past president of the Herkimer County Magistrates Association and was a member of the Herkimer Elk's Lodge. Although he had many professional accomplishments, his greatest passion and strongest loyalties belonged with his family, who will miss him dearly.
  He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Gail; his children, Anthony and Shaula Polus, III, Chad and Jennifer Polus and Heather and Mark Mosny all of Herkimer. He also leaves his grandchildren, Zachary Zaborek, Maxwell Polus, Zachary, Nathaniel, Abigail and Jillian Polus, Alexis and Justin Swieton, and Meara and Peter Mosny; his brother, James Polus and his wife Noreen of New Hampshire; his in-laws, Dean Ouderkirk, Gwen Conroy and Bill Gahan, and many nieces and nephews. Peter had a special place in his heart for animals and also leaves behind his canine friends, Sami and Mandy.
  He was predeceased by a sister, Rosemarie Ouderkirk and a granddaughter, Bella Polus Mosny.
  Procession will then follow to Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer where Peter will be laid to rest.

  Ilion - Miss Gwen Lauer and Anthony Peter Polus were married at 2 Nov. 26 in the Frist Prespyterian Church with the Rev. Maurice Mitchell  performing their double ring ceremony. Miss Pauline Hartlieb was the organist and Robert Selwood Jr. the vocalist.
  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lauer Jr., McGowan Road. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Polus, 121 Second Ave., Herkimer.
   The bride was given in marriage by her father and attended by Miss Betsy Fuerstein. Miss Gwen Lauer, who served as flower girl, is the bride's sister.
   Vincent James Polus the Herkimer, the bridegroom's brother-in-law, ushered with mer. (sic)
   A reception followed in the Palmer House, Herkimer.
   Mr. Polus is a senior in the School of Engineering at Syracuse University and is employed by the Carrier Corp., Syracuse. He and Mrs. Polus will reside at 2810 James St., Syracuse.

  The attendants were Miss Pauline Matis, St. Johnsville. and Ralph Carbone, Fort Plain.
  The bride was graduated from the St Johnsville Central School and is employed in the office of the Palatine Dyeing Company, Inc . St. Johnsville. The bridegroom. was graduated from the Fort Plain Central School, served four years in the Air Force, and is employed by the New York State Telephone Company in Syracuse.

  Area Boy Dies in Crash, 2 Others Suffer Injuries
  A 14-year-old Fort Plain area boy was killed and two others injured, one of whom was hospitalized, after all three were ejected in a 1-car crash at 9:55 last night on Route 10 near Getman Cemetery, Town of Ephratah.
  Dead is David Sulwikowski of Gray Road, Fort Plain RD 2, of a fractured skull and extensive brain damage. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Milan Kovar, a Fulton County coroner, who listed the death as accidental. The boy was a passenger in a car being driven by Hiram R. Moore, 21, of Johnstown RD 2.
  Moore was treated at and released from Johnstown Hospital for chest and lower leg-foot injuries. A second passenger Kenneth F. Ponte, 15, no address given, was listed in fair condition this morning at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, with contusions and bruises to the entire body.
  According to the Fulton County sheriff's department report, Moore was traveling west on Route 10 when his car failed to negotiate a turn. He lost control of the auto which crossed into the eastbound lane, slid approximately 200 feet, came back into the westbound lane, went over onto its side, skidded another 53 feet before hitting a ditch. The vehicle came to rest about 35 feet from the westbound lane facing east.
  The driver was cited for driving while intoxicated, improper plates, operation of a motor vehicle without insurance and having an unregistered car. He is being held in the Fulton County Jail in lieu of $300 bail. He will appear in town court later.
  Investigating were Deputy Thomas J. Bochenek and Sgt. F.F. Gable. They were assisted by Under sheriff Robert Wandel and Deputies Robert Walsh, Ralph Preston, Thomas Daggett, Mark Fettinger, the Ephratah volunteer fire
department and Montgomery County Deputy William Hanrahan.
  Sulwikowski was born July 19, 1961, in Jamaica, Queens. He was the son of Mrs. Beverly Dodson White of Fort Plain RD 2 and Raymond Sulwikowski, no address given.
  He was an eighth grade pupil at Fort Plain Central School and prior to that had attended Oppenheim-Ephratah School.
  Besides his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Ronald White; two sisters, Tracey and Lori Sulwikowski; three brothers, Daniel Sulwikowski, Janson White, and Matthew White, all at home; maternal grandparents, Mrs. Annette Dodson of Fort Plain and Harold Dodson of Little Falls.

 - Wedding Announcement (Leader Herald, Gloversville and Johnstown, NY, Wednesday, April 21, 1945)
  NELLISTON—Miss Marilyn Esther Dygert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rozelle Dygert of Nelliston and Willis Donald Day son of. Mr. and Mrs. Harry F. Day of Fort Plain were married Saturday afternoon at a candlelight at the Reformed church In Fort Plain.
  The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Chester C. Chilton in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. Mrs. Gladys Kling sang "I Love You Truly," "At Dawning," "Because," before the serivce.
  The bride, who was given in marriage by her father was attired in a gown of white silk marquisette over satin, with a shirred bodice, sweetheart neckline, and a peplum of Venetian lace applique. Her scalloped veil was attached with a crown of white beads. She carried a bouquet of white roses with sweet pea streamers and a orchid center removable for going away wear. The maid of honor was Miss Norma Coppi who wore a gown of yellow marquisette with a ruffled yoke and skirt, and carried a bouquet of talisman roses.
  The bridesmaids were Miss Wilma Day twin sister of the groom, and Miss Doris Dygert cousin of the bride. They were attired in gowns of orchid and green marquisette, and carried bouquets of yellow and talisman roses, The best man was Robert C. Dygert brother of the bride and Robert Stockwell and Gordon Stafford were the ushers. Mrs. Day presented her attendants with gold lockets, while the best man and ushers received tie sets from the bridegroom.
  The mother of the bride, wore a navy blue silk dress with navy and white accessories and the mother of the bridegroom wore a aqua silk dress with black accessories. Both wore orchid corsages. After the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors.
  Later the young couple left on a wedding trip with the bride dressed in a aqua wool coat over a suit of beige gabardine. Her accessories were aqua and brown with orchid corsage.
  Both the bride and bridegroom are graduates of Fort Plain High School and are employed at the Beech-Nut Packing Co. They will reside in Nelliston.
  Mrs. Day waa honored at pre-nuptuals events given by Miss Bertha Oeser of Sprakers and Mrs. Loris Ehle and daughter of Palatine Bridge.
  Out of town guest at the wedding was from Rochester, Norwich, Mohawk, Little Falls, Amsterdam, Croton on Hudson, St. Johnsville, Fonda. Johnstown and Cherry Valley.
