  Flyd Allen (Casey) Jones, 54, of 51 Maywood Terrace, was found dead in bed at his home about 7:45 Sunday morning by his wife, Mrs. Marguerite A. Jones, an employee of the Holiday Inn, when she returned home from work. He had apparently died in his sleep earlier in the morning, probably of another stroke.
  Mr. Jones had been in poor health since suffering the firs stroke in October, 1967. He had for years also been afflicted with asthma.
  Surviving him, besides his wife, are five children, Floyd A. Jones Jr. of Cortland and William H. Jones, 132 So. Massey St., born of his first marriage, and Thomas A Jones, Cathy E. Jones and Cindy M. Jones, all at home, born of his second marriage; a step-son, Willard J. Bice, Lorraine; a sistere, Mrs. Joseph (Helen) LaRose, Fishers Landing, and five grandchildren.
  The funeral will be Wednesday morningat 11 at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Rev. Benoit C. Dostie, pastor of the Church of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, will officiate. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery.
  Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Mr. Jones was born in Copenhagen Oct 19, 1915, a son of the late Howard and Mae North Jones. He was educated in the public schools of Copenhagen, including the high school, after which he served in the C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corps). He served at the Harrisville camp where he was an assistant mechanic to his company, the 1289th. He also served in Idaho and at Watkins Glen until the company disbanded in 1940.
  He then moved to Watertown where he had since resided. He was employed as a truck driver for a number of firms, last working for Angelo Vespa.
  At one time he owned and operated an automobile repair garage, first at 624 State St., and later on Pearl Street.
  He married twice. On March 23, 1940 he married Miss Edna Hughes of this city, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Hughes, in this city. She died Jan. 30, 1949 in Watertown at the age of 27. He married Miss Marguerite A. Bice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ora Bice of Loraine, in Adams May 26, 1951.

  Miss Joan Elaine Burke, daughter of Melvin Burke, 32 Clyde Street and Mrs. Mildred E. Burke, 6 East Ninth Avenue, was united in marriage at 3 yesterday afternoon in St Mary's Church, to Airman l/c Charles S. Lehr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lehr, 111 Washington Street, Johnstown.
  The double ring ceremony was .performed by Rev. Edward Leroux. assistant pastor. Traditional wedding music was played by the organist.
  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore ballerina length gown of nylon acetate lace encrusted with sequins. A lace overskirt formed a Redlngote effect over a pleated nylon underskirt Her fingertip illusion veil was attached to a tiara of seed pearls and she carried a cascade of white carnations and streamers.
  Miss Frances Stefic waa maid of honor. She was attired in a powder blue ballerina length gown with nylon acetate lace bodice with lace overskirt over a taffeta underskirt. She wore a rhinestone tiara and carried a cascade of pink carnations.
  The bride's mother wore a pastel blue nylon dress with white accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a pale blue and white dress with white accessories Both wore matching corsages of white  Carnations.
  Robert Lehr, bridegroom's brother, served as best man.
  A reception for some 80 guests was held on the lawn of the bride's Aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sprung, S Prospect Street Johnstown.
  The bridal couple cut a 5-tier wedding cake trimmed with a bride's bouquet and music box which played a wedding march.
  The couple left on a tour of the New England States. On their return, Mr. and Mrs. Lehr will reside in Kittery. Me. For traveling, the bride were a white sheath cotton dress with matching bolero jacket and white accessories, and white carnation corsage.
  Guests were present from Van Hornesville, Scotia, Vermont. Fonda, Johnstown and Gloversville.
  The bride Is a 1S0S graduate of Gloversville High School. The bridegroom, a graduate of Johnstown High School, Is stationed at Peace Airforce Base, Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
  The bride was guest of two variety showers. One was given at her mother's house, by her mother, the other by her aunt, Mrs. Harold Sprung.

  Mr. Cady W. "Pete" Staley, 63, of Bulls Head Road, Town of Florida, died suddenly on Monday, July 25, 2011 at his home.
   Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 25, 1947 he was the son of the late Cady Staley and Wretha Burke. A lifelong area resident, Pete was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. In 1966 at the age of 18 he went to work as a Union Iron Worker which was his passion. He was a member of Local #12 and worked at various companies including AB Steel, Cardona and Sons and DA Collins. He retired in 2002 after a long career, a continued to work privately. Also in 1966 he joined the National Guard, Serving in Company A, 3rd BN, 1st Infantry for several years until he was honorably discharged. He was also the proprietor of Pete's Restaurant in Minaville, NY. Although Pete had a strong work ethic, he also enjoyed socializing with friends, gardening and relaxing in his hammock under the tree in his yard with his dogs. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
  He was predeceased in death his parents; step father, Fred Hirschfield; and his "second" mother, Melva D. Rose.
   Survivors include his children, Billy Staley of Saratoga, NY and Connie Ziskin and her husband David of Amsterdam, NY; four brothers, Albert Staley and his wife Liz of Town of Florida, Mike Staley of Perth, NY, Frank Staley and his wife Emily of Town of Florida, and Steve Staley of Johnstown, NY; five grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Hastings, Tommy Ziskin, Mia and Aidan Staley; his former wife, Nancy (Frey) Mattas; two very special buddies, Lucas and Brianna Coon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
  Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 4 until 7p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY.
  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10a.m. at the Chuctanunda Cemetery in Minaville, NY.
  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA or to the charity of one's choice.

  Burton G. Handy of Buena Park, Calif., died on Oct. 10 at home with his family by his side.
  Born Feb. 5, 1933, son of Emmett and Grace Miller Handy, in Mayfield. He grew up in Johnstown and was a graduate of Johnstown High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
  He is survived by: his wife, Margaret Nellis Handy, whom he married on Feb. 5, 1955; sons, David, Robert, Toby and John; daughters, Deborah, Leslie and Ruth; brothers, Robert Handy, of Johnstown, Earnest Handy, of Lyles, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
  He was predeceased by: a son, Dean Charles; and brother, Emmett Handy.
  A memorial service was held on Oct. 22 at the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.

  Michael "Mikey" Gerhartz of Palatine Bridge passed away early Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Albany Medical Center. He was 48.
  Born on May 23, 1965 in Little Falls, NY he was the son of David and Maggie Mayton Gerhartz. Mikey lived in Palatine Bridge and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia. He attended and graduated from Canajoharie Central School and was employed for WW Custom Clad for 25 years.
  Mikey loved bird watching, playing Scrabble and Uno, doing puzzles, going for rides, investigating and putting together the family tree, making rubber band bracelets, and was an avid fisherman. Mikey was an avid reader of abandoned houses, haunted houses and ghosts. He also enjoyed playing on his iPad, computer and watching T.V.
  Survivors include his parents, Dave and Maggie Gerhartz; one sister, Michele Brand and her husband Floyd and their daughters, Heather and Jessie of Gloversville, NY; one brother, Wayne Gerhartz and his wife Amy of Long Lake, NY. He is also survived by his extended family of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11a.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. Zachary Labagh presiding. Burial will follow in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours will be held this evening (Friday) from 4 until 7p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mikey's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 238, Palatine Bridge, NY 13428.

Mrs. Douglas was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Freysbush. She was a
member of St. John's Ladies Aid. She was a foster parent for the Montgomery
County Social Services Department.
She was a member of the Advisory Council of the Fulmont Neighborhood Center in
Fort Plain and an honorary member of the Fulmont Development Agency in Fonda.
She was a past member of the Fort Plain Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary and was a
former dispatcher for Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Services.
Clayton Douglas, whom she married Sept. 26, 1934, died May 11, 1979.
Survivors include two daughters, Veda M. Douglas of Fort Plain and Virginia M.
Herringshaw of Herkimer; two sons, Roger L. Douglas and Carl F. Douglas of Fort
Plain; two sisters, De Etta Helmer of Little Falls and Irene March of Florida;
17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Douglas, who died April 7, 1986.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Gray-Houghtaling &
Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth
Dingman officiating.
Spring burial will be in Freysbush Cemetery.

  ST. JOHNSVILLE—In a pretty church wedding Miss Dorothy Rockefeller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Rockefeller of the Dutchtown section of the Town of Minden, became the bride yesterday morning of Clayton Douglas, son of Howard Douglas, who also lives in Dutchtown. The ceremony was performed at 10 by Rev. George H. Kling, pastor of the church.
  The attending couple was Miss Isabelle Rockefeller, a sister of the bride, and Homer Douglas, a brother of the bridegroom. The bride wore a becoming gown of Eleanor blue silk, and carried cerise gladiolus. Her attendant wore blue crepe and carried a bouquet of salmon gladiolus. The ceremony was performed before relatives and close friends of the contracting couple.
  The young people left immediately for a trip through the western part of the state, including South Dayton and Niagara Falls, and will also travel in Canada. After November 1 they will reside on a farm about two miles north of Palatine Bridge, in the Stone Arabia section.
  Mrs. Douglas is a popular young lady, who attended the Fort Plain High school. She has been employed in the Luxuray silk mill at Fort Plain. Mr. Douglas has been employed for some time on the Arthur Leneker farm, at Fort Willet on the Dutchtown road, west of Fort Plain.
  The bride has been the guest of honor at three showers. One was at the home of Mr. Douglas' father, a second was given by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Pearl Carpenter, Fort Plain, and a third, at the Rockefeller home, by the bride's aunt, Mrs. William Swartz of this village and the bride's sister. Miss Isabelle Rockefeller.
  The one given by Mrs. Schwartz and Miss Rockefeller was held Monday night. Nearly 100 guests were in attendance, and the guests of honor recieved many useful gifts.

   Miss Marion Scott, Fort Plain, maid of honor, wore a yellow nylon street length gown with a small veil caught to a yellow cap. She carried a Colonial bouquet of blue carnations. Miss Beatrice Cook, Fort Plain, sister of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a blue floor length nylon gown with matching hat and carried a colonial bouquet of yellow and white carnations.
  Carl Douglas. Fort Plain R.D. 3. brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ronald Cook,  cousin of the bride, and Walter Cook, brother of the bride, were ushers.
  The bride's mother chose a navy blue suit with black accessories. The bridegroom's mother
selected a blue lace dress with black accessories. They wore corsages of pink and white carnations.
  A reception for 250 guests was held at the church.
  The bride chose a blue nylon dress with black accessories and a corsage of white carnations for traveling.
  The bride is a graduate of East Springfield Central School and she is employed in the Palatine Dyeing Co., Inc., St. Johnsville. The bridegroom attended Fort Plain Central School and is also employed by the Palatine Dyeing Co.
  They will make their home in Freysbush.

  The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white taffeta with a rounded neckline designed with beads and a full skirt which fell in folds. Her shoulder length nylon net veil fell from a bridal cap of white beads and she carried a cascade bouquet of white roses and a white orchid.
  Miss Linda Getman, Herkimer, niece of the bridegroom, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of pink taffeta with a matching queen's crown attached to a face veil. She carried a colonial style bouquet of aqua carnations.
   Miss Sherry Sanders, Fort Plain RD 2, and Miss Linda Crews, Fort Plain RD 3 were bridesmaids and were attired like the honor attendant only in aqua and blue. They carried colonial bouquets of light pink carnations.
  Albert Herrlngshaw, Herkimer RD 1, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Roger Douglas, Fort Plain, brother of the bride, and Charles Herringshaw, Herkimer, brother of the bridegroom.
  For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Douglas selected a dress of steel gray lace over taffeta with matching accessories and wore a corsage of miniature white carnations. The bridegroom's mother chose a dress of light blue with white accessories and a corsage of miniature pink carnations.
  A reception in the church parlors was attended by 200 guests.
  For a wedding trip to New England, the bride wore a powder blue embroidered taffeta dress with a white hat and a white orchid corsage. Upon their return home, the couple will reside at Herkimer RD 1.
  The bride was graduated from the Fort Plain Central School. The bridegroom attended Herkimer High School and is engaged in farming.

   Irene A. Rockefeller March died Sunday, February 22, 2009, in Rockledge, Fla.
  She was born to Ida and Lester Rockefeller in Oppenheim on May 14, 1924. Husband Robert R. March preceded her in death in 1995, at which time she moved to Melborne, Fla.
  Irene leaves two daughters, Lorraine (Edwin) Bolton of Melborne, Fla., and Sandra (Shawn) New of Tavares, Fla.; and grandchildren, Shanna (Todd) Poorman, Mitch Veirs of Sanford, Kathryn (Darryl) Swain and Jeffrey Bolton of Melborne, Fla. Great-grandchildren Brooke, Joseph and Ethan will lovingly remember grandma along with her faithful buddy, Yanni.

Marriage Notes for Irene A Rockefeller and Robert Ross March

 - Wedding Announcement (Evening Recorder, Amsterdam, NY, Wednesday, September 15, 1948)
  Miss Irene Rockefeller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Rockefeller, of 17 East Liberty Street, became the bride Saturday afternoon, of Robert March, 68 Burwell Street, Little Falls, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross March, of that city. The pretty ceremony was performed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Franklin J. Schweiger, was the officiating clergyman.
  The bride wore a soldier blue street length dress, with cocoa brown accessories, and carried pink roses.
  The bridesmaid, Mrs. Isabel Smith, this village, a sister of the bride, was attired similarly to her sister, in a soldier blue street length dress. She had luggage tan accessories and red roses.
  Milton Krutz, an uncle of the bridegroom, Was best man, and the ushers were Wesley Kraft and Leland Smith, both of this place.
  The ceremony was followed by a reception at the bride's home for immediate relatives of the couple. Mr. and Mrs. March left for a short trip, and upon their return will reside for the present at the bride's home, here.
  Mr. March attended Fort Plain schools, and is employed by the Remington Arms Co., In Ilion. The bride, who attended the St Johnsville schools, is employed by the National Automotive Fibres, Inc., in Little Falls.
  The couple presented their attendants with personal gifts.
  The bride was guest of honor at a variety shower given by her sisters, Mrs. Leland Smith, this village, and Mrs. Clayton Douglas, Fort Plain.
