Augustinus Hess

 - AKA: Augustus
 - Served as a soldier of Conrad Franks company of Milita. This company consisted of adult males from German Flatts, South of the Mohawk River.
 - Participated in the Battle of Oriskany
 - "In the Revolution he served in Col. Bellingers Regiment, was with the illustrious Herkimer at Oriskany where he was taken prisoner but escaped the same day. He was a pensioner after the war." (Hatch)
 - "Augustinus II inherited and lived on lands south of Columbia Center, the farm now the home of Mrs Rose Miller. He and his wife and Mary Hess were buried in a private burying ground near their home. But recently their headstones with the few others remaining of nearly a hundred then in all were removed to the Columbia Cemetery." (Hatch)
