- Frederick and Anna Meyer were buried in the cemetery on the land they had given in Herkimer and when in 1898 it was converted into a park their bodies were removed to the lot occupied by their son Michael F. in the Mohawk cemetery. The headstones are beautifully engraven by hand and the lettering speaks well for whatever member of the family executed the job. (Hatch)

Among the depositions that contain information relevant to Henrich Meyer / Henry Moyer and Christina Lederer, please see the following excerpts. I have re-arranged these so that the excerpts below are set forth in chronological order, and not in the order in which they appear in the file.
October 12, 1842
The deposition of Christina’s son and guardian, Nicholas Smith:
“… that his mother’s maiden name was Christina Leder, and [she] was first married to Mr. Myers, and at the time of her marriage with this deponent’s father, the said Frederick Smith, she was the widow of the said Myers (then commonly called Moyer).”June 13, 1843
The deposition of Peter Smith, Frederick Smith’s nephew, who boarded with his uncle in Herkimer, and went to school “during the life time of the first wife of said Frederick Smith ... the said Frederick Smith remained a widower a short time, and was again married to Christina Moyer, widow of Henry Moyer.”September 1, 1843
The deposition of Abraham G. Rosecrantz, grandson of Rev’d. Abraham Rosecrantz. A.G. Rosecrantz states “... in Seventeen hundred and Ninety one, the twentieth day of November, Frederick Smith, a widower, was married to Christina, widow of Henry Moyer.”February 14, 1844
Another deposition of Abraham G. Rosecrantz, grandson of Rev’d. Abraham Rosecrantz. A.G. Rosecrantz states that in “the original Book of Records of Marriages, Baptisms [illegible],” there is an entry in German, the English translation of which is “... on the 20th November 1791, Frederick Smith, a widower, was married to Christina, the widow of Henry Moyer.”September 26, 1854
An order by the Supreme Court affirming the appointment of Matthew Smith as Christina’s guardian, in place of his late brother Nicholas Smith. The heading of this order reads “Supreme Court in the Matter of Christina Smith, a Lunatic.” We can only wonder what was the
nature of Christina’s mental illness. We may speculate that she suffered from an age-related dementia, such as Alzheimer’s.March 16, 1855
Matthew Smith states that his brother Nicholas Smith died in June 1854, and that he, Matthew, has been appointed as Christina’s guardian. In the Rev War pension file for Nicholas Meyer, Nicholas states his brother [Henrich/Henry], a sister and their mother moved to Claverack in Columbia County. It was here that Henrich's first two children -- Johannes (John) and Maria -- were born.
